Rosenberg, C.N., an instructor at Bastyr University and a nutritionist in private practice in Seattle. It requires all kinds of nutrients, for example, to fight infection." Because HIV-positive patients are susceptible to opportunistic infections, it's especially important to keep the immune system as strong as possible; Rosenberg advocates proper diet, appropriate dietary supplements, and other health-supporting practices such as exercise.

When a person with active TB coughs, sneezes or spits, people nearby may breathe in the TB bacteria and become infected. Left untreated, each person with active TB will infect on average between 10 and 15 people every year.
