Extractions: Aug. 27, 2001 Corporate scholarships could help turn flagging schools around, but parental involvement is the key ingredient to academic success, a group of Chandler parents said. "Intel Elementary? I don't have a problem with that, if the school has the resources to better educate our kids," said Mary Ronning, whose son William is a sixth-grader at Erie Elementary School. "But we need to get parents into our schools. That's critical." About 10 women, many of them members of the Erie Elementary PTO, recently gathered at the Chandler home of friend Deanna Biddle to discuss the state of education in Arizona. The meeting was the second in a series of community forums tied to the Build Your Perfect School campaign, a months-long public service project sponsored by

Special Education Inclusion TEACHING LEARNING. education Issues Series. an NEA mold of a special education class or residential institution. District (Federal District Court, arizona, 1994). In this case, http://www.weac.org/resource/june96/speced.htm
Extractions: This article was updated November 5, 2001 Inclusion remains a controversial concept in education because it relates to educational and social values, as well as to our sense of individual worth. Any discussion about inclusion should address several important questions: There are advocates on both sides of the issue. James Kauffman of the University of Virginia views inclusion as a policy driven by an unrealistic expectation that money will be saved. Furthermore, he argues that trying to force all students into the inclusion mold is just as coercive and discriminatory as trying to force all students into the mold of a special education class or residential institution. At the other end of the spectrum are those who believe that all students belong in the regular education classroom, and that "good" teachers are those who can meet the needs of all the students, regardless of what those needs may be.

We're also in the crowds that cheer for the University of Arizona NCAA championship softball and basketball teams during their home games. Many of us, however, prefer the open desert spaces and spectacular mountain views in our communities. Located within the Vail School District boundaries can be found the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park. Rated the number one university research park in the nation, it includes high tech employers Raytheon Missile Systems and IBM, along with a large number of smaller and incubator technology companies. One of our specialty schools, Vail High School, is located in the Park and provides students with the unique opportunity to be a part of this stimulating environment. We are continually improving our district in response to our changing world. Networked computers with Internet access are located in every classroom and office. Teachers post grades and attendance into a web-based program that parents can access from virtually anywhere; our military parents keep in touch with the progress of their children no matter where they are posted.
