Tools can be as simple as spell check for a poor speller to an adjustable keyboard for a person with fine motor problems. BVSD's Assistive Technology team is designed to assist students in school with their academic pursuits. State Level - The Colorado Department of Education developed State Wide Assistive, Augmentative, Alternative Communication (SWAAAC) Teams. These teams are designed to assist students with disabilities in public schools with their academic pursuits. Local Level - The BVSD Assistive Tech. Team (formerly known as the BVSD SWAAAC Team) is comprised of an occupational therapist, speech language therapist, and special education teacher. We are available to visit schools to talk with teachers and parents about students in special education programs. We offer ideas, both low and high tech., to help students with the learning process.
