Product Description
With regard to the benefits of using multiple vehicles, the concept of formation control has been studied extensively in the literature with application to the coordination of multiple robots, unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), satellites, aircraft and spacecraft. There are many advantages of using formations of multiple vehicles, such as increased feasibility, robustness, accuracy, flexibility, cost efficiency and probability of success. The propulsion system on a spacecraft is of key importance in formation flying missions and life time of mission depends on the available fuel on the spacecraft. Furthermore, in the missions where spacecrafts are flying in close proximity the exhaust plums from the thrusters of a satellite can damage the near by spacecraft which might result in total failure to the mission. In this study a recently developed concept of Coulomb satellite equipped with hybrid propulsion system will be presented. With the combination of Equilibrium shaping technique and Coulomb satellite concepts certain formations can be produced for which minimum communication between swarm agents and maximum fuel saving (up to 80%) is possible. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Frank tells of the hardships of developing the turbine
Frank starts from his entry into the British military service. He got a patent on the turbine engine in 1930 and spent years fighting authorities while he developed the engine. The perils of early tests are detailed graphically. His engine was used in the Metior and sent to the usa in 1942 after we were in the war.GE developed a working engine in 6 months then Frank came over to help them all he could. An excellent boot about the hardships faced by a man who was clearly ahead of his time. ... Product Description
A set of the following three books:

"Developments in High-Speed Vehicle Propulsion Systems" - There have been impressive achievements in the last few years in the technologies associated with turboramjets and other combined cycle engines. The technologies of these engines, including their thermal management and integration with the vehicle, are the principal concerns of this present volume. Drawing on the expertise of international engineers and researchers in the field of high-speed vehicle propulsion systems, these articles, written by experts from the United States, Russia, Germany, Japan, Belgium, and Israel, highlight the most recent developments in the industry.

"High-Speed Flight Propulsion Systems" - Leading researchers provide a cohesive treatment of the complex issues in high-speed propulsion, as well as introductions to the current capabilities for addressing several fundamental aspects of high-speed vehicle propulsion development. Includes more than 380 references, 290 figures and tables, and 185 equations.

"Scramjet Propulsion" - Supersonic combustion ramjet (SCRJ) engine research and development begun some 40 years ago is the key to airbreathing hypersonic flight. Many unexpected complexities of SCRJ engine combustion and combustor-inlet interaction have been continuing challenges. However, valuable progress has been made in several aspects. In the next few years, it would appear that significant flight testing will take place in several countries and this should lead to further understanding of SCRJ processes in engine design for cruise and accelerator vehicle applications. ... Product Description

This book focuses on fundamental concepts in propulsion—particularly gas dynamics, turbomachinery and combustion—and theoretical and practical design aspects of aircraft engines and thermodynamic aspects and analysis. Its pedagogical format enables readers to learn concepts and problem solving and analysis techniques and then use worked examples to understand their application to practical situations in propulsion. Some exercises use thrust calculations based exclusively on military and commercial aircraft engines. The book also introduces advanced concepts on ramjets and scramjets to facilitate advanced studies in propulsion. Written for undergraduate and first-year postgraduate students in mechanical and aerospace engineering, this book is also useful for scientists and engineers working in aerospace propulsion and gas dynamics.

3-0 out of 5 stars Slow shipping!!
I'm not sure if the slow shipping is the sellers fault or not, but I ordered two books on the same day. One from this company and one from another company. They were both shipped via USPS around the same time, this company waited an extra 3 days to get it mailed. I got this book close to three weeks after I got the first one. The book was in great condition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little Investment
This book contains heaps of good information on everything from the history of Aero Engines, deep explanations
on all the components within, noise reduction etc. It also has brilliant and very detailed diagrams.
Be aware however, that this book is intended for people who already have some fundamental
knowledge in the field of physics and basic engineering.

If you are able to comprehend some complex info and want to know how the Jet Engine works, than this book is for you.
The book is a great reference if you are an existing engineer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Basic Textbook

The book provides a great foundation in jet propulsion principles and theory for aeronautical engineers. The book is well organized and well written with clear and easy to follow explanations.

This is a reader-friendly book that most people ranging from pilots to mechanical or aeronautical engineering students who require a down to earth book that teaches the fundamentals of jet engines will find interesting and informative.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jet Engines: Fundamentals of Theory, Design and Operation
Very good book, everything you need for the begining.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but spotty
After reading historical stuff on Whittle, Hooker, Skunk Works, and various other "JET" sources, I was hoping this book would give me lots of good info.

It does - but it doesn't. Spotty information. Sometimes really excellent, other times irritatingly brief and you're turning the page to find... a new topic.

Overall yes, I'd say buy it - but don't expect it to be a "great" read. It really needs some reworking to help it.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Vectored Propulsion, Supermaneuverability and Robot Aircrft"
The only book since 1990 on the most advanced technologies of super-agile fighter aircarft, manned and unmanned, which are TAILLESS, STEALTHY & FLIGHT CONTROLLED BY COMPLETE [Yaw-roll-pitch] THRUST VECTORING [TS/TFVC].
This unique book deals with the design and flight-testing-emulations of TS/TVFC subscaled flying vehicles and the development and testing of TVFC jet engine[s] or a gas turbine[s]. TVFC-based jet-engines then become the primary flight control system, with or without the 100 years old aerodynamic only conventional flight control[AOFC]. In close range engagements complete yaw-pitch-roll TVFC provides at least 64 to 1 KILL RATIO adventage over AOFC fighter aircarft. Stealth and tailless designs further increase the KILL RATIO. Many drawings, graphs and illustrations are included. Currently out of print and the book price has dramatically increased. Graviton, USA. ... Read more
