My CD collection is a broad church containing a veritable cornucopia of music in all its wondrous forms. Country and Western music is the most filthy, putrid abomination ever devised by the human psyche. The playing of, listening to or even tolerance of Country and Western music are unforgivable sins the perpetrators of which have no place in any society that strives to be civilised. I can hold my tongue no longer - I must give vent to my hatred of Country and Western. For anyone in the sublimely envious position of being unaware of what Country and Western music is, forgive me for imposing on your blissful ignorance. Country and Western music is a vile mockery of the beauty of music. Its audience is made up for the most part by southern American Good-Ol-Boys trailer-trash who listen to it in between having sex with their close relatives and parading their bizarre personality defects on 'Jerry Springer'. It is played by two groups of people: Women with absurd hairstyles and too much jewellery who would have been prostitutes only they're too ugly and Double Y males in ridiculous Stetsons, often with more than one first name (eg Billy Joe etc. Perhaps named after their grandfathers on both sides - although actually then they'd only have one first name). Country and Western is rotten, rotten music with no exceptions and no chance of redemption. (Yes I know that Johnny Cash is Alright but for the purpose of this diatribe, consider him a blues singer.)

    Extractions: Country/Western Music Association Brief History of the CWMA On Thursday evening, January 12, 1995, veteran entertainers and sound /video technicians gathered to discuss the preservation of traditional Country, Western, Rural, Novelty, Folk, Western Swing, Bluegrass, Appalachian & Mountain Music. Some of these musical styles are in jeopardy of being lost to the sounds now being promoted by the media as "Country". The group all agreed that this type of Country Music deserves preservation and promotion as a vital part of American Music History. It was also agreed that a celebration of such music should be held annually in the hopes that it would spark a renewed interest in the traditional sounds and styles of pre-1970 Rural Music. It was agreed that a group called "COUNTRY/WESTERN MUSIC ASSOCIATION" be formed to work toward this goal. It was agreed that the proposed celebration be called "The COUNTRY/WESTERN JAMBOREE". It was understood that the "C.W.M.A." would not become an entity to replace or impose itself upon any other organization! Instead it would be a promotional organization dedicated to bringing together all traditional "Rural Music" groups in the Pacific Northwest once a year to celebrate our Musical Heritage. Our goal is to encourage and promote interaction and communication among all the diverse factions of "Country Music". We desire the participation and camaraderie of entities such as: The Western Swing Society, Bluegrass Associations, Country Folk Music Associations, and any others who are dedicated to the preservation of traditional Rural Music!
