Editorial Review Product Description Using research conducted in Australia, Canada, England and the United States, the contributors explore how individuals manage their paid work within firms that are struggling to survive and compete in global economies. The book discusses the tensions that arise as workers and owners struggle for personal and firm survival, two processes that are often contradictory and occasionally produce conflict. The firms in this study show how the character of the small, New Economy is changing the relationship between employers and employees in increasingly significant ways. A broadly international audience of scholars, students, human resource professionals and policymakers in business, public policy, economics and sociology will find this book of great interest. |

Editorial Review Product Description To succeed as a Microsoft Certified Professional, you have toknow a lot about networking. And résumés. And jobinterviews. (What -- you thought you only had to know about protocols,Windows NT Directory Services, and the like?) Fortunately, thanks to MCSE Career Microsoft!, your networkingwon't just be with computers but will also be with the peoplewho can help launch your career and keep it advancing toward greaterresponsibility and remuneration -- not to mention a fatter paycheck. In MCSE Career Microsoft! author, Microsoft Certified Professional, and veteran technical recruiter William C. Jeansonne lays outroadmaps for you to follow to reach the professional goal you'veset for yourself. He also shows you how toFind Web sites, newsgroups, and mailing lists where you canexchange ideas and leads with your peersPresent yourself in the best possible light in your résumé-- without getting in over your headAnticipate questions you'll be asked in interviewsFigure out what you're worth, how your salary stacks up, andhow large an increase you can expect as you add to your credentialsand expertise Plus, on the bonus CD-ROM accompanying MCSE Career Microsoft!,you get the full text of the book in searchable, HTML format aswell as Microsoft's Certification Road Map so you can figure outwhich exams you have to pass and which courses you have to take. Jeansonne does not just focus onthe Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification as thetitle of this book implies. In these pages, you'll learn about severalcareer tracks in addition to MCSE, including Microsoft CertifiedSolution Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Product Specialist(MCPS), and Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). Unfortunately, therundown on each certification is minimal. There's little informationabout what you'll need to know for the exams, and the author doesn'teven outline the tests you must pass to achieve each rating. Instead,he provides general platitudes about how great it is to hold aMicrosoft certification, interspersed with interviews with actualprofessionals. Aside from that, this book contains mostly commonsensecareer advice ("Read technical journals;" "Go to tradeshows"). If you're serious about a Microsoft certification, thisbook won't help you much.
