5-0 out of 5 stars Thrilling! I couldn't put it down!
I had no idea who Roberts was when I picked up his book. But good gawd I am impressed! This guy is ballsy and brash and inspiring. He belongs in my book on P.T. Barnum, "There's a Customer Born Every Minute." Iadmire him for coming out of nowhere, with nothing, and making millionswith sheer balls, hard work, and plenty of honesty. An absolutely terrificbook! Reading it feels like being at a high action boxing match orbasketball game. Riveting!

1-0 out of 5 stars Nothing that I didn't know before.
The book has its moments but it clearly hasn't told me anything new. This is basically a mainstream success story and it doesn't guide me into a new direction.Next? ... Read more

Product Description
For such a common word, strategy is often misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misapplied. Given the complex challenges facing organizations -- and entire societies -- we must grow more and better strategists. Tackling three simple yet sweeping questions, Cultivating the Strategic Mind delivers the goods: (1)What is strategy, and why aren't more leaders better strategists? (2)While strategy is as foundational as DNA within the most exemplary companies, why are so many organizations missing it altogether? (3)How can I apply strategy in palpable, pragmatic ways to the benefit of those around me? As a result of demonstrating a more Strategic Mind, leaders will employ a robust language and methodology for crafting, communicating, and implementing strategic aspirations and commitments. Contemporary business is screaming for equally creative and critical thinkers capable of leading teams and entire organizations. Blake Leath's breezy writing style, intuitive models, research-based solutions, and sticky storytelling make Cultivating the Strategic Mind a stimulating, fun, and immensely credible approach toward developing strategists for our evolving world of work. If you believe in the fundamental importance of thinking as a differentiating competency for exemplary leaders, it's time you treat yourself to the book you'll want to share with your colleagues -- the one written with you in mind and designed to guide leaders on the journey to visionary, creator, and architect of strategy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Strategic Mind creates competetive advantage and significiance
"Cultivating the Strategic Mind" is different!Useful tools, leadership principles and strategic applications, organizational leadership history, practical application guidance, thought-provoking concepts, and illuminating examples and stories permeate this book. The author's philosophy seems to be reflected even in the margins of the book--margins to the edge of the page in an effort to provide as much content as the pages will hold. This is not a "fluff filled" recitation of strategy or leadership principles--rather it is a book that holds the promise of expanding the reader's ability to find purpose, achievement, and satisfaction in life and work--it is about creating the high-performance environment that builds long term competitive advantage and personal significance. This book goes directly to my reference library for daily use--because I refer to it daily.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most executives' thinking is too shallow! This book will cause you to think differently about your business forever!
Countless organizations cannot go where they want or need to because their executives' and leaders' thinking is too shallow.Strategic thinking is hard work; it requires a level of mindfulness to do the thinking that today's complex businesses and organizations require. In the midst of our hyper-speed culture, Dr. Leath unveils a simple, clear, pragmatic approach for developing the Strategic Mind that will change how you think about and run your business or organization - forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Independent Novel Project: Mia Hamm (biography)
In my opinion this book was very good and it had a lot of good details. i also thought it was very well orgainized. my favorite part of the book was the parts were Mia would train and the go and win or lose the World cup. i also really liked the World Cup sections because it was the longest section since there were three of them. but i really like it because it showed you how coompetitive Mia was when it came to being the best. i also liked it because it showed you in a lot of detail of who Mia was as a person, like how shealot of the times passed the ball off to her teamates so they could score or how instead of the press focusing on Mia Mia wanted the press focusing on her team and how they are all amzing players. my other favorite parts in the book was that the author captured that soccer was not Mias life and how she had other important causess close to her heart besides soccer. for example every year Mia would set up a game called Garrets Game which is a game that mia and her team playedd every year and donated money to bone marrow reserach. because a bone marrow transplant went wrong for her older brother Garret and he ended up passing away at 28 leaving behind a wife and a kid. but that shows Mia is a well rounded person and she not one of thoes soccer maniacs were there whole life revolves around soccer and i really like how the author caputured that how Mia was press shy and well rounded. But over all this book was very good very detailed. i would recommend this book to people who are looking for a role model because she had a lot of people who looked up to her. i would also recommend this to people who enjoy soccer or want to get better at soccer because there is a part in the book where the authordid a section about how to become a better soccer player and i would also recommend this to people who are looking for an interesting book to read or to someone who just wants a good read about someone famous and very popular. something different that Mia did that most other girls wouldnt do to become better was that she practiced so hard and so much. while girls were playing with barbie dolls she would be playing with her soccer ball getting better. but another thing she did that most girls did not do was she played for the boys she always played on a boys team. and a lot of the times she was at the top with scoring and assists for her team and sometimes there leage. at the age of 14 mia was seen by the head coach of the national team and he thought she was exceptional and she made the team. this was all really great information in the book. I really liked this book and it was sort of challenging so i was put with a challenge which is always good.

The Green Beret in You is look at the way Green Berets live there lives through honor, integrity, and discipline. Our organization feels that American men, and men all over the world, could benefit from reading this book. The majority of American men have lost their warriorship and it is time they are reminded of the duties and responsibilities that come with being a man. The modern man has become characterized by doing the easy thing and not the right thing. This problem has become a plague on American society and our enemies all over the world know this. This book examines the mentality of men in our special operations units and the benefits of living your life as they do. 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book!!!
Once I got this book, I had trouble putting it down.I have read most of it at least twice and some parts three times.I have also purchased additional copies and have given them as gifts.I believe that there are life-lessons for all of us, especially those in the military and in public service careers.John Giduck and John Anderson are two men that have been there, done that and their life experiences can teach something to all of us.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good!
While I actually listened to the audio book instead of reading it.I agree that the book should be required reading for young men and those that have lost their way.Stop watching Dr Phil or reading books from Oprahs book club.Grow a pair, and read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Green Beret in You
This book should be read by every human being, young and old alike.... A fantastic primer for instilling and cultivating Values, Ethics and Morales to everyday behavior and interaction.

4-0 out of 5 stars America needs to look for real role models
I obtained my copy of the book from John following a seminar he taught.I was not sure what to expect, however I found the book to be a tremendous source of philosophy on what it will take to get America back on track. There are a lot of points that readers can take away and use to build themselves, their families, and our nation. The book makes it very clear that what you want out of life will not come easily - and we should not expect it to be easy. Both John and SGM Anderson have worked hard to achieve what they modestly claim to be sucess. I have purchased several copies of the book to provide to some of my friends who are at decision points in their life and might need a little bit of guidance on the introspection they are going through. As a 34 year Army Active/Reserve/National Guard Officer and currently a volunteer Sheriff's Deputy and SWAT Medic - the thoughts expressed in the book hit home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every MOM needs to read this:-)
I think every mother of a son should read this---mothers need to understand how NOT to feminize their sons. This is an excellent book in raising boys:-) I would suggest this as a shower gift to any mother expecting a son. I have read a ton of parenting books and I would put this in the top 5.And it was not written to be a parenting book:-) Excellent!!! ... Read more
