I looked through lots of books at the Bookstore and I was looking more for ideas for practice and helping kids learn new skills.This book provides learning through games, strategies and many more useful tools. I think that keeping the kids busy and learning in practice with little idle time is essential. It also gives you a plan for the year per age group. This book has given me lots of ideas.Thanks.

Psychology of Coaching
This book is a great book to discuss the pshycological aspect of coaching.The book discussed what it means to be a coach and how to deal with parents.It did have a few drills at the end of the book that were somewhat helpful but overall this book didn't have a lot of useful informationfor myself.If you want a great book for coaching, buy"The baffled Parents Guide To Coaching Youth Softball".

Great book outlining a proven method of setting up a successful program which was what I was looking for.

What every coach should know about building and maintaining a football program
Coach Allan Trimble has a 111-9 record and six consecutive Class 6A state championship titles. And his winning list goes on and on...

His book is a step by step guide on how to start and maintain asuccessfull football program.

This book covers the I-formation (power running game with a wide open passing attack) and a versatile multiple defensive system. Which, he used to win a 32-2 career playoff record and 25 consecutive playoff victories.

This book is very user friendly. Coach Trimble uses tons of pictures and diagrams. If you do not understand what he is talking about, all you have to do is look at the pictures. If you are looking for a play book, here it is. This book is great for youth to college level.

At last a structure
I have read many books on coaching. Most of them have been a collection of tips. You know, the 101 things a coach can do in coaching. Hey the detail is great but what about a framework, a compass to guide a coach during the process? Thankfully, that's what this book by L Michael Hall and Michelle Duval provides. A framework ! The models they have developed: The Matrix Model and The Axes of Change Model make it easier to navigate the process of coaching someone. What is really great too is the many coaching conversations in the book. These conversations introduce other coaching models and show you how the actual coaching session fits into the two models developed by the authors. You can read the transcript of how a session unfolds and then read a review of the session by the authors. This is a must read for anyone serious about coaching.

Maybe, The BEST book in the market about coaching!
I have been doing executive coaching for the last 7 years around latin america and as part of my development as a professional coach I have been doing an extensive research (you should see my amazon account!!!) on thepractical and theoretical literature relate to coaching; Coaching conversationsby Michael Hall and Michele Duval and executive coaching with Backbone and Heart by Mary Beth O Neill are a MUST for any person doing executive coaching fulltime. What I like the most about Coaching conversations by Hall and Duval is the frameworkgiven and the practical examples they offer. Another very nice thing about this book are the models that are presented (The axis model, the Matrix model, and the different types of conversations a coach can use on his practice. I highly advice every person who really wants to get to the HEART OF THE MATTER to read this book!!!!

Steve Ogne and Tim Roehl are long-time coaches and church planting practitioners. The authors advocate a hands-on approach to coaching that is both relational and experiential. A coach is not an advisor-teacher, as many who find themselves helping others often behave. While there is much value in the content and myriad viewpoints of the authors participating in this book, I personally take great pleasure in the fact that this book is a manifestation of someone who is a master of what she teaches.

A great place to start
If there is any such thing as a Coaching 101 class, this should be the textbook.A great book for youth and JV coaches as well as people who justwant to learn more about the game.This text offers a great overview ofnearly every aspect of football on and off the field.Not only does itcover the "Xs and Os", but also addresses strategy, gameplanning, and parental, family and community involvement with the footballprogram.Coaches working at more advanced levels of football (5A highschools, college, pro) might find this book remedial.However, I thinkfundamentals are important at any level and this text may prove to be agreat refresher for coaches and coordinators bogged down in zone blitzesand rhythm passing.My favorite parts of the book were the explanations ofthe evolution of offensive and deffensive formations.It's one thing toknow how a play works, it's another to know WHY.Other books I've readgave me the fish, this book showed me how to fish.BIG difference.

A decent read
I bought this book hoping for some simple, effective ways to implement a new press break for my team, and got it! His 1-up press break (followed by 2 and 3-up) so simple that I wondered how I hadn't thought of some of this on my own. I loved that the book was organized into the presses themselves, and also a point-by-point list of the responsibilities of each player, which makes it easier for players to learn. It also contains drills for the press breaks, which is key. My only problem was that the cost of the book didn't seem to be equivalent to the information I gained. FYI is a very comprehensive review of leadership competencies.My organization is using the book to assist its leaders with 10 understanding what competencies are; 2) what their personal strengths and opportunities are; 3) developing a plan to more effectively develop their own leadership performance.Easy to read and understand with a wealth of ideas to address developmental opportunities.We have purchased the Card Sort that goes along with the book too.

Worth the money
Although a little outdated, it's the more recent currently available. If you need something urgently, buy it. If you are just curious, wait a little for a revised edition. Independently, it is a good item and contains valuable information considering there aren't many publications like this one readily available.
