i have not bought this book but I looked inside. How can you tell how "healthy a book is if it does not list fat, calories, sodium etc. contents?

So many recipes here!
So many recipes here!To many for me, but perhaps that is good.

If you use your crockpot than perhaps this is a good book for you, but as there are so many recipes, I think getting a book with less is much better.

Some of the meal were very good I must say.

Impossible to use
While this book may indeed contain over 450 recipes, good luck finding one you want. There are no chapters or other subtitles to break up the recipes. Instead, they are printed in alphabetical order by TITLE. And 90 pages of them have titles beginning with the word "Crockpot." A brief peek suggested that there may be good recipes in here, but I could not believe that I would ever find them when I was looking for a particlar type of recipe. Soups, stews, sweets, breads -- they are all in one alphabetical list.

There is no introductory material that would tell you what criteria were used to define "healthy" or "recession-busting."

This could be a good book if an editor got her hands on it, but at present it is not useful as a cookbook. The book desperately needs an index and some categorization of the recipes!

Slow cooker perfection!
Slow cooker perfection! I have to say, that while I usually like a more hands on way to cook then a crockpot or slow cooker, there are over 450 great meals that can be made in one.I had never really thought about it until glancing through this book, I mean, its just one amazing recipe after another!

I am not going to list them, it would be too hard to narrow it down, and as I have only made about half a dozen, and others in my family have made some too, I can't say which is the best, as they all turned out.

What I was amazed to learn was the vast array of different meals that can be made in a slow cooker...so if you have one of these in your kitchen, get Wilcox's book and put the book and the cooker to use!You will be happy this winter with great meals and many thanks from the family!
