Extractions: Appendix 2: Members of DCSD As has been mentioned in this report, the establishment and the work of the Danish Committee on Scientific Dishonesty (DCSD) is based on a report of the Danish Medical Research Council (DMRC) entitled "Scientific Dishonesty and Good Scientific Practice" in March, 1992. This report was written by a working group appointed by DMRC with the current and previous chairmen of the council as members. In addition, the group comprised members from the medical faculties of the three universities, from the dental colleges of Copenhagen and Aarhus, from The Royal Danish School of Pharmacy, from the Journal of the Danish Medical Association, from the Danish Medical Society, from the Danish Central Scientific Ethical Committee and, finally, three members with special expertise. The report recommended the establishment of a Danish system of investigation in this field, consisting of two regional committees and a national committee. The report proposed that DMRC appoint two regional committees each consisting of three members and three alternates. The chairmen should have the qualifications of a member of the bench while the other two members should be health science researchers. The national committee should also have a jurisprudent as chairman and, in addition, six members with health expertise. This committee should also be appointed by DMRC which should ensure a balance of sex, age and professional expertise. In the final construction, the system was simplified in that only one committee, covering the whole country, was established.
The Danish Agricultural And Veterinary Research Council - Publications The strategy plan for the danish Agricultural and Veterinary Research Council Investigationsinto feed composition, quality and structure with respect to the http://www.forsk.dk/eng/sjvf/publ/sjvf-strategi98-02/summary.htm
Extractions: - Summary The strategy plan for the Danish Agricultural and Veterinary Research Council for the years 1998-2002 is divided into four sections. The first outlines the issues in agriculture and research where the strategy is expected to function. The second section describes both the council's "own" scientific areas of priority, as well as its involvement in intercouncil activities during the incoming strategy period. The third section discusses briefly the tools which the council intends to employ in order to fulfil the objectives of the strategy. In the fourth section there is an outline of the proposed budgeting for the strategy plan. The first section begins with a description of what is to be expected in agricultural development. There is likely to be further concentration and specialization as a result of pressure both nationally and internationally (EU and WTO) in the form of increasing emphasis on quality control and restrictions on production methods. Likewise even greater consumer interest in agricultural production methods can be expected, particularly their effects on the environment and on animal welfare. This will increase the need for research into new technology. Today's research conditions are also influenced by the widespread use of research programmes resulting in research being directed towards areas of current relevance. The national strategy for agricultural research is an essential basis for the council's choice of priority areas. For example further emphasis must be placed on basic research, and greater priority should be given to the quality and safety of agricultural products, health and welfare in animal husbandry, as well as landscape research.

Danish Women Are Losing Out In Achieving Top Executive Positions New figures from the danish Prime Minister's Department show a decreasing representationof to ensure a balance of men and woman in the composition of public http://www.eiro.eurofound.ie/1997/08/InBrief/DK9708126N.html
Extractions: Home Country: DENMARK New figures from the Danish Prime Minister's Department show a decreasing representation of women on public committees and boards . New figures reveal that a law dating from 1990, which sought to ensure a balance of men and woman in the composition of public committees and boards, has not been realised. Whereas one in three seats (29.2%) on public committees and boards was taken by woman in 1994, this ratio has actually decreased to a little over one in four seats today (26.9%). The chair of the Equal Opportunities Commission Ligestillingsrådet Ingrid Rasmussen , deplores this development saying: "it is simply wrong that there is a law which seeks to ensure a balanced composition between the sexes in operation and we find that the trend is going in the opposite direction ... The state ought to take the lead in the battle for equal opportunity." Ms Rasmussen will initiate a investigation into the matter. Anne Baastrup , the spokesperson on equal opportunity for the Peoples' Socialist Party SF ) will bring the figures to the attention of the Prime Minister

Extractions: ACES Literature and Composition Writing Sample Read the very short story, "The Blue Eyes." Isak Dinesen is the pen name of the Danish author Karen Blixen, the person on whose life the movie Out of Africa was based. Storytelling is part of Danish tradition. You've probably read some of the composed fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, and you might even have read some myths and tales from Danish mythology, stories which were told around the fire in the evening over many hundreds of years. Like the tales of Andersen, 'The Blue Eyes' is a composed fairy tale. That is, the author composed it to sound like folk tales, which arise from an oral tradition. Write a one-page response to this story for your writing sample. OPPTAG/ACES
