Parent Involvement - National Standards the National PTA's National Standards for Parent/family Involvement programs. DelawareThe Declaration of Parent/family Responsibilities based on http://www.pta.org/parentinvolvement/standards/state.asp
Extractions: Connecticut's General Assembly passed a law in 1997 (Public Act 97-290) which was intended to foster meaningful partnerships among schools, families, and communities to enhance student learning. It stated that ALL local and regional boards of education were required to develop, adopt, and implement written policies and procedures to encourage parent-teacher communication by September 1, 1998. The Connecticut Department of Education along with community partners including the Connecticut PTA, put together a packet to help local boards of ed comply with the law. The packet contained a sample policy, the six standards in detail, an overview of the law, and procedures and agreements that had been developed in school districts around the country, as models for communities to use.

Extractions: The meetings were routine, but that's precisely what gave them special significance. In the midst of the violence that has racked Israel and the Palestinian territories for the last month, and which has prompted thousands of Jews to cancel trips to Israel, the fact that members of the Central New Jersey Partnership 2000 Steering Committee came for annual budgeting meetings with their Israeli counterparts was seen in Arad and the Tamar region, which are linked to NJ-DEL cluster under the Jewish Agency's Partnership 2000 program, as a tremendous vote of support. "What we're saying is that life is continuing," said Stanley Stone, executive vice president of the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey. "Not to come at this time...would have sent the wrong message. We're here to spread the word that there is normalcy and that people should come." While far from the violence that has engulfed the Palestinian areas and Arab communities in the Galilee, Arad and Tamar suffer from the same general dejection that has settled over the rest of the country. Over and over again in meetings with the American group, Israeli officials stressed that they are disillusioned by the violence and the realization that there apparently is no Palestinian partner for peace, the cornerstone of the Oslo process that over the last seven years has attempted to build Israeli-Palestinian rapprochement.
