This ring was founded because of the dearth of CDYT resources available using conventional search engines. A frequently asked question among teachers wanting to use drama in the classroom is "Where do I find material?" Member sites provide resources for use in Creative Drama and Youth Theatre (as the name of the ring implies) or have information about how to use drama in a classroom setting. Youth Theatre Companies with resource materials about their productions are also welcome to join the Ring. As always, it falls to those of us in the field who care about drama and drama education to create our own solutions. Please use these sites and please let us know how things are going.

In addition, many English language textbooks are related to literature, so it is useful even for English language teachers who are not specialists to have some knowledge of English and American literature. However, many teachers with a background in TESL/TEFL, linguistics, or communication rather than literature have not necessarily studied literature, and they sometimes have problems teaching literary works in the textbooks. We have compiled this web page, "Literature" (http://www.ling.lancs.ac.uk/staff/visitors/kenji/literatu.htm) for teachers who do not have much background in literature and would like to learn more and for those interested in literature for their own pleasure. Extractions: Get Yourself a Website - Without the Drama So, you're done with the free web hosts. Gone through Geocities, Angelfire, Fortune City. You're exhausted with the pop-ups and banners. You want a real site. But where to go? You look around the net, and the possibilities seem endless. 20 MB of space for only $20 a month! Wow! That's fantastic! Or is it? Way back when I bought my domain and signed up with a web host, I was the typical "the internet is so wonderful" optimist. I was thrilled to find something that sounded just about what I kind of wanted - and bam, just like that, $300 poorer and with a useless chunk of web space that wouldn't even work properly. My domain addresses wouldn't connect, my content was being warped - things weren't looking too good for me. A year later and much the wiser, I know better. My site is working, I have a lovely, helpful support team, and I now know what I want. But, that's all well and good for me - I have had the added advantage of working for a web hosting company. But what about the rest of you out there who don't have my experience, who see a world of opportunity and are about to jump into the cesspit of money loss and disappointment.

Examples of Multimedia in the Classroom Getting Started: Multimedia Resources at UVa Multimedia has many definitions depending upon whom you ask. A standard definition follows: Multimedia is any combination of text, graphic art, sound, animation, and video delivered to you by computer or other electronic means. ( Multimedia: Making it Work , Tay Vaughan, Osborne, McGraw-Hill, Berkeley, CA 1994 Multimedia can help to gain and hold attention, make points clearer, stimulate discussion, and in general, enhance the learning process, if it also includes the appropriate human elements. Multimedia is not meant to replace instructors, nor can it replace them Despite all the hype about the "new multimedia revolution", multimedia is not new. It has been used in the classroom for the last several decades in the form of overhead projectors, slide shows, filmstrips, and colored chalk. With the advent of the computer and other electronic devices, multimedia is now being used a number of ways in the classroom including PowerPoint lectures, digital slides, digital videos, case studies, newsgroups, mailing lists, MOOS, MUDS and more. Learning materials can be designed for interactive use by individual students, groups of students, and even students in different geographic locations.
