Refreshing Book!!
It was so refreshing to finally find a book that presented dinosaurs from a creation stand point!!!And how awesome that it paired the salvation message with it!!!My kids LOVED it!!!

Twaddle and completely UNscientific
If you are any kind of GOOD and DECENT parent, you will NOT get this book. It is completely fabricated, completely unscientific, and just flat out lies about the age of the earth and dinosaurs. There simply is nothing in this book worthy of your attention.

Unless you actually believe the earth is only 6,000 years old and dinosaurs walked with man. If so, then waste your money on this rubbish and consider your children blacklisted for the rest of their lives for being taught such foolishness.

Thankful for a true dinosaur book
I am so thankful for a true book about dinosaurs.Every time I read a book about dinosaurs to my boys I have to change "millions of years" to "thousands of years" so that they will know the truth.Will I teach them about the theory of evolution as they get older?Sure, but I'll be teaching them about why it is false.My only caution to parents is that there is one page depicting the flood that shows people on rocks about to be swept away and drown.It's true that did happen, but it might cause fear in some little ones.

Interesting
This book is an excellent reference for Christian parents and educators. You will enjoy it. It is hard to find books that explain the dinosaurs in a way that does not include the THEORY of evolution. As it is a THEORY, not a law I see no reason to subject MY children to things that contradict MY beliefs. Which is why I find some of these reviews incredibly silly. If you are so intent on commenting on a book that you would never choose for yourself to begin with you have serious issues. We live in America. You are free to have your beliefs and these authors (and some people looking for legitimate reviews) are free to have their beliefs. Go review a book on Darwin and evolution. For like-minded Christians who would actually choose this book for YOUR children, this is well worth the investment. I hope this helps!

This is indoctrination, NOT education
The book is total nonsense from cover to cover.Only a person totally wrapped up in young earth creationism could even conceive of giving this to their children as a serious guide to early life on this planet.It's grossly misleading and misrepresentative of basic facts.I can make many specific criticisms of the issues within the book.
One page begins with "Some scientists think that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, long before humans lived on the earth, but the Bible tells us the real story."The age of the Earth and Dinosaurs is undisputed fact, the Earth is billions of years old and the evidence to support that is overwhelming.Humans and dinosaurs could not possibly have coexisted.To claim that the literal reading of the Bible is "the real story" is basically false.Accompanied is a picture of some people farming with a couple of dinosaurs in a pen.Who can seriously believe that people kept Dinosaurs on farms?It's like a scene out of the Dinotopia books.This is shortly followed by the claim that before the original sin was committed all dinosaurs ate plants, presumably even things like the T-Rex.Generously it's claimed that "eventually some dinosaurs probably did eat meat".We know certain animals ate meat or ate plants because the teeth for each purpose are totally different, compare the teeth of a cat to those of a sheep.No Tyrannosaurs exists with teeth developed for plant eating, this is utter nonsense.

Then we move onto the concept of what part the flood has to play in all this.Apparently Noah and his family were saved and all of the other people drowned, to sum up in the words of the book "You see boys and girls, it is very important to believe God's word".Well that seems like a good way to scare a child into believing in God...or else.Then the book makes the claim that Creation Scientists have "shown" that there would have been plenty of room on the ark for all the animals.How does one demonstrate that exactly?The accompanying picture of the ark makes it look the size of a shopping mall.The book claims that "although there were many different dinosaur names there were only about fifty kinds of dinosaur".I don't even understand this, what fifty?All those "different names" represent defined species, they are all different, there may be the odd overlap here and there but there are thousands of species of dinosaurs not fifty and probably many more to discover.But anyway we are supposed to accept that Dinosaurs did indeed go on the ark which leads to ridiculous scenes of a pair Apatosaurus'squeuing up to get on board.

Further evidence for the flood is given by the fact that the flood would kill millions of animals and scatter their remains everywhere which is what we supposedly find when digging fossils today.This is a gross distortion of fossil science.Fossils are indeed scattered across the world but they are not randomly assorted as though be some massive deluge of water.Different types of fossils are grouped in different layers of rock.This rock takes thousands and millions of years to gradually accumulate trapping examples of animals and plants as time passes.Fossils are assorted by age through the rocks as you go deeper into older rock layers.More complex organisms that more closely resemble modern day organisms are in more recent rock layers, the earliest crudest forms of life are in the oldest.Also we find that you get groups of fossils, such as packs of animals and families, they aren't all mixed up in a great jumble across the globe.The fossil record is obviously not the work of a flood that washed everything around in one go over a couple of months.

So what really happened to the dinosaurs?The book puts forward several suggestions.One is that the flood destroyed all the vegetation and the dinosaurs starved to death.This is ludicrous, surely even a young earth creationist can't think this casts God in a good light as it seems spectacularly short sighted to tell Noah to take the Dinosaurs on the ark to save them knowing they'll starve afterwards.This book can't even exhibit internal logical.Another suggestion is that humans may have killed them all off, one cited example is that of George and the Dragon, so we are now expected to believe that knights were hunting dinosaurs into extinction during the middle ages.

The book is also worryingly preoccupied with the concept of sin.If you want your children to feel guilty on nearly every page this will do the trick, many pages mention it if only to drop "Sin is such a terrible thing isn't it?" at the end of a page as an afterthought but several have whole paragraphs designed to heap guilt upon the reader.It continually talks about how horrible sin is, how it ruined beautiful creation and how it is our fault, and how every time we see or think about death we should be reminded about sin.This is a patronising, miserable book trying to mislead the young reader about the very basic facts of the world and make them feel horribly guilty at the same time.No parent should give their child this, please give them something fun and genuinely informative to read.

8 year old loves series
These books are full of fun adventure and tons of intersting facts....I love when a book makes learnign fun! Wish the books were longer!! It is a quick and fun read for a 3rd grader.

A Clever Plot
I am seven years old.I think this is the 3rd best book in the series so far because it has a clever plot to save the Ankylosaurus from the pool of mud.I like it also because Jamie and Tom have to track the dinosaur.

Great Read
My Daughter LOVES these books.She is a huge Dinosaur nut along with Mummies.She has read the whole series at least 3 times each.She got these at 7 and at 9 they don't leave her side much.Bring on more!!!

An artistic eye on the evolution of birds
This book is more a work of art than science (the author even admits it). It is based on a series of wonderful artistic reconstructions of a score of avian and non - avian dinosaur and early birds. The reconstruction is often more based on the fantasy of the artist, and on his educated guessing, than on solid evidence. In some points it also fails in explicitly indicating if the feathery coat of the animal and other details of its outer look is proved by the fossil record or not.
It is a beautiful book for what can be referred as "popular science". It lacks a bit of scientific rigor.

Tremendous Artwork and Interesting Detail
This book shows in most graphic terms, for those who are visual learners, just how close theropod dinosaurs are to birds, reminding us that those birds that come to our feeders and poop on our car are actually feathered dinosaurs as well.The book gives some detail on the evolution of birds, but doesn't go into the amount of detail some of us evolutionofiles might like.I realize that we are still learning alot about the evolution of birds from theropod dinosaurs.However, the existence of feathers found on recent finds of theropod dinosaurs in China show pretty graphically that feathers evolved within this family of dinosaurs and we can speculate their purposes.

The book does detail some other evidence of bird-like behaviors that are implied from the fossil record such as nesting behaviors and flock-like, herd-like characteristics that the evidence suggests as plausible.One of the lessons from this book as well as others that talk about the evolution of birds from dinosaurs, is that we may in fact learn many behavioral characteristics of long-extinct species from their non-extinct cousins who still fly all around us as well as end up on our dinner table.

What is most striking about this book is that when you add the feathers to the projected looks of theropod dinosaurs as well as the markings you might typically find on close cousins of birds, you get a real feel for the close relationships and it helps break down the barriers of time that help us understand these dinosaurs as living creatures rather than fossils in a museum or monsters on the big screen.

My grandson was sooooo happy!
The pictures are beautiful, the writing informative.A must have for the dino lovers.

A very accurate evolutionary visual represention of detailed transition from small feathered dinosaur to primitive flying bird
As i've again written before in the above title review of this book art and science are the oldest known form of visual creativity which explores amazing imaginative fossil remains of feathered dinosaurs brought to life from a large bygone genuine reptilian dragon world that doesn't exist anymore but instead is accurate visual represention of detailed evolutionary transition from small feathered dinosaur no bigger or wider than the palm of your hand to the primitive flying bird which was and still is perhaps a descendent of modern living birds such as medium sized pelicans or tall flightless emus and ostrichs.Finally all that can prevent it from getting a five star review is it's a little bloody or gory when a dino bites or kills another prey species picture otherwise it would be perfect for a five star rating that it deserves as a resource.

Pretty pictures, little else
The reviews and description were spot-on.It's pretty much a visual feast, but the information is sparse.I would have preferred photos of bare bones (and feather imprints) to the paintings, which always include a heavy subjective element.This book is definitely geared to the layperson with no background in paleontology.Nothing wrong with that; it's just not my cup of tea. ... Fresh take on science!!!!
I am a social scientist, but not one that thinks we do "hard" science. So, I bought this book with the intention of seeing how other people do science, and I was not let down. Others are doing science in a way that is exciting and fun. That is what you are a witness to when you read this book. It offers an insight into new ways of conducting research into why dinosaurs evolved into birds, but by using a different approach then before. This is exciting stuff. The author offers a justification for this approach that does not rely upon jargon to do it either, which means we all can what it being discussed in this book. Get it and enjoy!

Working to extract an interesting thesis
As others have said, the concept of the book is thrilling--a dinosaur created with evo-devo? Cool doesn't begin to cover it.

Unfortunately, Horner seems to encounter several problems while expounding this thesis. 1) He doesn't seem to be able to control his subject matter, and so he goes on wildly odd digressions--no one really cares what kind of college bars are near his paleontological site. 2) I suspect he really wanted to write a 5,000 word "MAKE A CHICKEN INTO A DINOSAUR" entreaty, and that a lot of the rest of the text is fluff.

So--skim the fluff. The paleontology and evo-devo stuff is cool, though not as in-depth as I'd have preferred.

As a side note, it seems odd that Horner is so careful to include creationist-friendly material in the book. Surely the subject of whether or not science and religion are non-overlapping magisteria is not within the purview of his thesis?

Should have been a magazine article.
Remove all of the extraneous religion, history and biographical text and you have the makings of a decent magazine article with some intriguing ideas. It was surprising since I've thoroughly enjoyed many of Horner's other books.

For five chapters, science writing at its best
The first 5 chapters of this book exemplify science writing at its best.There is the personal, but it always relates to the science, and is interesting besides.The chapters explain what we believe we know about dinosaurs and their evolution, the kinds of evidence, even what it is like collecting fossils; the chapters also discuss how a study of embryo development can cast light on evolution.Most amazing to me (p.108) is that there is sufficient collagen protein preserved in some dinosaur fossils that you can inject them into a rabbit, thereby generate antibodies, and these antibodies recognize the corresponding chicken protein.

The last two chapters are not at the same level.Horner is interested in promoting a grand experiment: modifying embryonic chicken development so that you create a creature with the features belonging to the chicken's non-avian dinosaur ancestors.There is a lot of developmental biology which must first be mastered to accomplish this.However, at the level of detail that Horner writes, there is just not enough to say to adequately fill the 50 pages devoted to the subject.As explained I couldn't fully appreciate the concept of symmetry, and Horner did not want to go into such topics as just how staining works in tracing embryo development.

Horner himself is a delightful man, careful to give credit where it is due, willing to tell some anecdotes which do not paint him in the best light, and willing to spend $40,000 of his own money to sponsor research he believes in!However, sometimes he seems to be implicitly assuming that it is only the control genes which mutate, so that just by modifying their signals you can creat a viable creature with dinosaur characteristics.

Hello, I am a T-Rex....
What happens when Paleontology converges with Molecular Biology? Advances in molecular biology now allows us to make changes to the genetic code - the 'language of life'.Paleontology gives us glimpses of extinct animals. The authors of this book challenges the reader to consider the possibility of changing the genome of an existing embryo say that of a chicken and enticing it to 'remember' its past and develop characteristics of its ancestors - such as teeth, tail etc.And since birds are descendent from Dinosaurs, theoretically you can now go back in time step by step and slowly but surely create a Dinosaur.

It is an intriguing concept and the authors do an excellent job of asking the right questions - can we do it? should we do it? what are the benefits? What are the disadvantages? The book also covers the basic science very well and in simple terms explains the principles involved.

The title of the book is slightly misleading since we are far away from actually being able to create a Dinosaur. Many challenges still remain but the possibility of being able to do this in the next 10 to 20 years is very real. More importantly the book will give the reader a better idea of the various possibilities, that a proper understanding of the genetic code will provide humanity. ... Read more

If your kids love dinosaurs ...
If your kids love dinosaurs, then this book is perfect. My son loves dinosaurs and when I got him this book, he enjoyed it even more since he can now identify his toys within the book. It was a great way to teach him how to match and compare each of the dinosaurs.

Going to have to buy a second one!
I bought this book for my daughter when she was two, and it has been her favorite ever since. Now that she's four (and I've re-glued the spine several times), I will have to buy another. I think it's still going to be her favorite for quite a while. It's small size is so handy we take it everywhere!

Good, but some favorites missing
My two-year-old daughter loves this book, though it's not as much a favorite as others in this series (esp. animals and pets).The pictures have been no problem, and she's learning some of the names.My only complaint is that some of the better known dinosaurs aren't in here (such as the apatosaurus or ankylosaurus.)

Our 27-mo. old daughter and we like it a lot
I purchased this for our daughter when she decided that she loved dinosaurs.(We also got a couple sets of the Animal Safari "toob" and boxed dinosaurs for her to play with, and she loves those, too, but they might be too much of a choking risk if your child puts a lot in his/her mouth or plays with them unsupervised.)We're very careful about what we give her, and what we let her see (BabySongs videos or The Wiggles is pretty much the extent of her viewing) or read, and we actually like the depth and breadth of the book.Neither our daughter nor we find the pictures scary.We like it as well as the others we have from the series. ... Great Story!
I read this book to my nephews for years when they went through their dinosaur obsession stage.Now my son is four and on the same stage...dreaming about dinosaurs, talking about them day and night.The book captures the fascination that children have with dinosaurs.It's funny and creative and bound to become a classic.

Dinosaurs fall flat
We picked up "If the dinosaurs came back" because of its beautiful and clear-cut illustrations. The visual impact is very enjoyable.
However, the book falls short on its contents. "If dinosaurs came back" - yes, what if they did? In this book, their return would be very tame indeed. Dinosaurs could become buses, we learn, dinosaurs could be used as ladders, they could do timberwork in wooded areas, or people could own them like pets and take them for a stroll on a leash. But where is the dinosaur essence here? Where is the rampage, the nutsized brain, the carnivorous jaws, the giantic appetite? If dinosaurs came back, oh what happy mayhem it could be! But in this book the famed old lizards display about as much characteristics as a forgotten chair on a street corner.
Verdict: Too infantile - even for the young set (ages 3 and up). But nice pictures.

Another good book
We also used this book for our dino unit study. Very cute idea of what life would be like if dinosaurs were still alive.

Decent book for little dinosaur lovers--nothing special
For a dinosaur-loving kid (and I was one), this book should work nicely.It's got--you guessed it--heaps of dinosaurs.Plus, in this book the dinosaurs are very friendly: they make nice pets and people helpers.They become fully integrated into human society.That, for a dino-kid, is a great fantasy.However the art is quite mediocre, and the book has few of those curiosities that make a great kids' book.Instead, this is a rather unimaginative take on the dinosaurs' return.A must only for the hard-core dino-kid.

Not As Much Fun As I Hoped
I was looking for a book for a 6-year-old that explained excavation of dinosaur bones.This book covers too much material very superficially and short-changes the excavation process.

Very Amusing
I just thought this book was flat-out funny, for kids and adults.Although most of the humor is in the pictures, there's a little bit mixed in with the text as well.

Before reading this book, I didn't know that most dinosaur skeletons in museums were actually copies of real-life skeletons.But when you think about it, it makes sense.I mean, how many complete authentic T-rex skeletons are out there?Not too many.Got to have copies if you want people to see skeletons.

I kept looking for the author's last name in this book but never found it.

And you know, I always thought I'd be a paleontologist when I was a kid, and even though I don't want to be one anymore, it's still fun to read great stuff like this.

Easy/ fun to read, comprehensive, informative, & great pics

Great fun
I checked this book out from the library for my 5 year old son.He loves it!The pictures are interesting and full of details and the text is very engaging.I find my children quoting the book, such as, "I'm going to gobble you up. With much too much ketchup."Swashbuckling fun.

Great Pirate Book

An excellent book
Patrick is a boy with a vivid imagination. While at the zoo his brother talks about how much bigger dinosaurs were than anything at the zoo. Patrick sees the dinosaurs his brother describes. They are attacking the alligators at the zoo. They are waiting at the stop light on the road home. A T Rexis following them home. He is worried about just how large they are. Can it reach the second floor? He is afraid. Once at home his brother reminds him that there are no more dinosaurs. Relief.

It is a great concept that builds a little tension thru the story. This makes it rather exciting. I can read it with that kind of scary voice. Then when we remember that dinos are extinct , whew!

This is a classic book. Every kid should have a copy. I highly recommend it.

Very imaginative
Our preschool teacher recommended this book and our son, a dinosaur enthusiast, took to it immediately. Great story.

My 2 1/2 year old son loves this book
This was my son's favorite book out of a large stack we just returned to the library. I'm thrilled I just found it at a consignment sale cause he was fascinated by the pictures and the actions of the dinosaurs. There were a couple nights reading it that we had to be more sing-songy through parts of the book, but he's not yet three so it's to be expected. The imaginative play is great, as is the brotherly relationship.

A Fun and Informative Book for Kids!
I loved the Kids Meet the Presidents book, and so did my kids, so I went out and bought the Kids Meet the Dinosaurs title. The illustrations are beautiful and vibrant, which makes my kids really enjoy looking through the book and learning about these prehistoric creatures. They also love the way the dinosaurs pop right out of the page!

The information is easy to read, and it's also very interesting! My kids and I learned a ton, and we met a lot of new dinos that we hadn't even heard of! There are old favorites like T-Rex, but we also got to meet and learn about Troodon, Amargasaurus, Scutellosaurus, and lots of others!

I hope that there are lots more in this series! My kids and I love them! I recommend this book to all dino lovers out there! ... Read more

Aspirin for the work headaches
Most of our problems in the work are well associated to the other people.

The concept of dinosaur brain and the lizard logic perfectly explain why colleagues, bosses, clients, etc cost us such a hard-time, inefficiencies and countless headaches.

After reading this book, you will not only learn to survive and fight off the dinosaur brains surrounding you but also to recognize your own dinosaur brain and muzzle it to your own advantage.

Didn't dinosaurs go extinct?
This book is full of good ideas on how to deal with the Machiavellis, Himmlers, and Genghis Khans at work. Especially note worthy is how to handle anger. "The more visibly angry someone is, the less likely he or she will be able to respond rationally". Usually the person with the coolest head prevails.

Another great book by the author
Ever since I read the 'Emotional Vampires' by the same author, I bought all his books. The author offers very real and practical ways of dealing with the dinosaurs in one's life, including oneself. His secret is in recognizing human/animal nature and offers both insight and strategies for being more effective in the corporate world. The humor just makes it even more enjoyable to read.

Must Have for All Junior Paleantologists!
I bought this book as a Christmas gift and was only able to give it a quick once-through before wrapping, but it is really beautifully illustrated, colorful and the narrative is informative. It presents many of the less commonly discussed and more unusual dinosaurs. I believe it's suitable for younger children, as well as older ones up to about age eight or 10. Personally, as an adult, I wouldn't mind adding it to my own library, just for the beautiful illustrations. I loved dinosaurs when I was five and six, but had to learn their names from my collection of plastic dinosaur figurines that had the names imprinted on the bottom. We didn't have books like this to learn from when I was a kid long, long ago. If your little one loves dinos, this book will be a valuable reference added to their collection of dino data!

My kid loves this book...
Great book for ages 4-9 if your kid loves dinosaurs.Be careful with the pages though, this is a paperback and the pages will rip easily if a2yr old gets a hold of this book.

A Great Book!
I bought this for my 4 yr old daughter last year for Christmas 2006. She was almost 4. She loved it and still goes back to it, to look at. It is a great book with wonderful illustrations and very good information. I highly recommend it for ages 2 up to about 9 or so.

Charming story
This first book of Harry and the Bucket full of dinosaurs was really cute. He found a box of dinosaurs in the attic. He cleaned them and repaired them. He was moved to research the names of each dinosaur. He took very good care of them and they went everywhere with him. One day on an exciting trip with his grandma on a train he forgot them and they were left behind on the train. His gran bought him a video to take their place. But that couldn't replace them.He is inconsolable. Finally Gran takes him to the train station to check the lost and found. Harry has to prove they are his by naming them, which he does. His dinosaurs are happy to see him and they whisper to him "You are definitely our Harry, definitely!"

We got two more of the series but they didn't have the same charm. It could be they are for younger kids. My boy is 4. They were ok but never his favorites.

Great book!
This book and the series of books has been a favorite in our house for a few years now.This is my favorite of the series, it explains how Harry becomes friends with his dinosaurs and it is a really sweet story.My son carried around a bucketful of plastic dinosaurs for about a year, and he slept with them and bathes them just like in the book.The hardcover copy makes a great gift too :)

Great book!
This book is about a little boy who finds a box full of old toy dinosaurs in the attic.He carefully fixes and cleans them, puts them in a bucket, and then carries them with him wherever he goes.He knows all of their names, and he is the only one who knows that they have their own personalities.When he leaves them on a train one day, his nan tries to replace them with a video, but that won't do.He and his mother eventually find them in the lost property office at the train station, and he gets them back when he names them all.

My son just got this book as a present for his 4th birthday.He absolutely loves it and asks me to read it every day.He relates to Harry better than any other character he's read about so far, because he carries around a bucketful of cars with him wherever he goes.After we read the part where Harry's dinosaurs tell him he is definitely their Harry, he told me, "Mommy, my cars tell me the same thing."Harry is a character any little one who loves a toy can relate to.

I bought this for my 2 year old and he loves the book!We enjoy sitting down and reading all about Harry and his dinosaurs.We even have our own bucket of plastic dinosaurs that my son now carries around - just like Harry.

Not about dinosaurs, but about the introduction of their renderings
What an enjoyable, informative book!

It is so hard for me to wrap my head around never having seen a full dinosaur skeleton, or even a rendering of the creatures!But, thanks to artist Waterhouse Hawkins (as well as other artists, researches, and Queen Victoria and Prince Albert) that was all changed for the reopening of the Crystal Palace!

Waterhouse was assigned with introducing the populace to models of what researchers and scientists inferred dinosaurs would look like (from the odds and ends bones already discovered).

But, Waterhouse's accomplishments didn't stop there, and he continued to create renderings throughout his life.

This book isn't so much about dinosaurs (though there is some fascinating information on the development of what people *thought* they looked like).Instead, this book highlights Hawkins' major achievements (and set backs) and left me wondering how I'd never known about this man before.

The illustrations are wonderfully vibrants, thanks again to the wonderful Brian Selznick!

Wonderful book
I bought this book for my Grandson as a birthday gift and he loved it.The illustrations are incredible and it's a great way to introduce archeology and scence generally, to a young child.My grandson is only eight and he was thrilled with this book. I think books about science deserve the same kind of wonderful illustrations as works of fiction.

This is a wonderful and moving story and what's even better is it's true.

This book tells the story of the creative genius Waterhouse Hawkins who paints and creates life size models of dinosaurs way back in the 1800s.

It's a beautiful picture book, I highly recommend it.

God's Word really DOES offend, I guess...
I'm reading this book to my child and amazed at how, in the past, I swallowed hook/line/sinker all the ideas that were handed to me on a platter by my teachers and the media. Reading this book has made me open my Bible more and try to find out for myself just how and where these dinosaurs fit in. And right there in Genesis it says on the 6th day God created animals AND man. There are too many other references to dinosaurs in the Bible to mention right here, and I encourage you to investigate for yourself (look up dragons in the Bible, very interesting) but needless to say, it has changed my view.

Why is it easier for us to accept a theory than a fact? (Even Darwin himself didn't fully believe in his theories near the end of his life, a theory being, well, a THEORY, after all). Why not look to the best history book of all, the Bible, for any question we have about history? And please don't bash scientists. In fact, everything scientists have found supports events that happened in the Bible. (I know, you're thinking "What about fossilization?!?" Everybody has a different opinion on that! But when they found a dinosaur bone with red blood cells STILL IN IT, even the secular scientists admitted the bone couldn't be billions of years old. But THAT didn't get on the news, did it? No, because we would have to change all the school text books and secular scientists would have to admit they were wrong about something.)

The the Bible says "the Word of God will offend..." and apparently it does, especially on the issue of creation.

This Jesus-freak thinks this book is stupid.
Seriously. The Bible is truth, but it employs many different literature devices. The Genesis Creation story is a broad, undetailed generalization about the order that things came into being. It's like eight sentences long. And its order matches with the scientific evidence & fossil record. THIS BOOK IS AN INSULT to intelligent people everywhere, ESPECIALLY to intelligent Christians. It's this kind of bizzarre junk that makes believers look like idiots. I am homeschooling my kids with Christian and mainstream materials, and I wouldn't allow this garbage into my house... unless they were learning to write a rebuttal essay. While I firmly believe that that God could have created the world in this way, the evidence He left behind PROVES that He didn't. The more I study the Bible, the more I see logic, method, and flow. God can be known, understood, and trusted (which is more than I can say for many people pushing an agenda, claiming to interpret the Scripture) in a way that a child can know, understand, and trust a good parent. He left us proof of what He did and how He did it... why do people like this author ignore that?

Wow! Before Creation Scienticians discovered the facts, Bible stories were kind of boring. Sure the O.T. is full of blood and slaughter and greed and sex, but so are movies like Troy and 300, which looked good but ended up being a little tedious by the end. And while the Book of Revelations has some decent psychedelic prophecies, movies like Altered States are just as crazy sick. So if the Bible were a movie it would only be a run of the mill big budget pop corner. It might not even be certified fresh on Rotten [...]

However, you spice the Bible up with dinosaurs and you're playing a whole new ball game! Dinos perk things up right away! What an ingenious way of luring kids into an interest in the Bible. The kids will be so blinded by their interest in dinosaurs that they won't even see what hit'em! Whoever thought this one up must literally possess the cunning of a serpent.

Some of my favorite restored Bible scenes include: The Israelites riding dinosaurs out of their Egyptian bondage, Jesus riding a Triceratops into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, and Jesus and George W. Bush high-fiving while riding a pterodactyl onto an aircraft carrier. Now THAT'S religion!!

I do have a few suggestions for other books to help entice kids into reading the Bible. The authors might want to consider writing: The Cool Robots of Eden, The Wiggles of Eden, The X-Men of Eden and the Muppets of Eden, wherein thanks to the miraculous, healing powers of Jesus, Elmo's testicles finally drop.

Good purchase!
This book is nice to have not only because it is not full of unscientific jargon about evolution but because it also presents the facts about dinosaurs. My children were excited to have me read it to them. After each page, they were looking forward to finding out what was on the next one, and so was I. The only thing we did not like were the imaginary time-travelers that were integrated into the storyline. But that was minor, and they were relatively easy to ignore.

VERY EFFECTIVE BOOK
Dinosaurs of Eden, a new one - Dinosaurs for kids, Dinosaurs by design and Dinosaurs Unleashed are best books about dinosaurs. I strongly recommend these 4 books to all Christian parents and teachers. I, as parent and religious teacher can testify that kids really like these books and these books are of great help when you start to teach children about truth of God's Creation and when you confront evolutionist dogmas with evidences for biblical Creation, and extinction of dinosaurs in Global Flood. Great illustrations with Adam, Eve and dinosaurs in Eden and with dinosaurs on the Noah's ark. I hope to see more books of this sort. ... Read more

great book
this is a great book. my son LOVED it when he first got it. unfortunately the other reviews i read about it's durability didn't stand up so well. my 3 year old ripped 2 of the pop-ups the same day. nothing a little super glue couldn't fix, but i was really counting on the reviews of others as far as the durability went. but it's a wonderful book and he loves it!

The best Strickland work
My kids loved this cute story and the beautiful illustrations so much we wore out 3 copies. It went to the hospital with one child, went to show-and-tell with a couple of them. It came on vacations. We had to carry it in the car at all times and read it at bedtime every day. It's a great children's work.

Great pop-ups
The story does not have that much too it, but the pop-ups are really neat! My four year old loves it.

Berenstain Bears at their Finest
My kid loves this book; it is full of adventure, rhymes and beautiful color illustrations.

In this tale, we join the bears as they investigate a missing dinosaur bone from a popular exhibit. The tale is made extra thrilling as the museum is going to open soon and people are lined up outside. What happened to the bone is hilarious and entertaining.

Great classic Berenstain bear book!
This is a great book.I remembered it from MY childhood, and my daughter (2) loves it!This is an easier B-bear book for smaller kids to listen to, as it rhymes and is a very simple plot.Basically, a dinosaur bone disappears from the bear museum and the bears (3) search for it."There's no case too hard, no case too tough, for the bear detectives and their hound dog Snuff!"

The books that the Berenstains wrote for Beginner Books (which Dr. Seuss edited) are very different and, to me, much better than the stuff they've been cranking out since.They use much simpler vocabulary and shorter sentences, and are written in rhyme, which really helps hold my son's attention.The stories, too, are simpler, funnier and just plain more entertaining. Dinosaur Dinosaur.. great addition to kids library
This book was a great hit with my 2 year old.He loves Dinosaurs and we really enjoyed another of Kevin Lewis's book- "My Truck is Stuck", so we thought we'd buy this and give it a try.He loves it and has most of the book memorized.I would definitely recommend this book, as well as "My Truck is Stuck" for any young reader.

Both my kids ADORE this book. My daughter (3.5)LOVES Dinosaurs and this is a really fun book that uses Dinosaurs to teach young children about every day routines. It has really helped us with her understanding that there's some things she NEEDS to do every day, like brushing her teeth after she eats, or that taking a bath comes after dinner, and then it's time to go to bed.

We've had this book for about 9 months now and have read it EVERY day, TWICE a day since the day we got it... and you know what? I'm not sick of it!It's actually really fun to read, and the illustrations are GREAT.

My son (18 months) loves this book too, the "beat" of the rhymes is really fun and he just laughs and laughs.

We will be purchasing ANOTHER copy of this book soon, as ours is getting a bit worn from all the love it's gotten. We are also going to get a copy to donate to my daughter's preschool.
