Wrong Book
I ordered this book but Amazon shipped me a different one.Customer Service will not return my emails to get it fixed.

Not really a guide
I have to say that I was very disappointed with this book. I was hoping for more information to be contained within the book but this is more like a book that you would give an elementary school child. The book gives only superficial information about the breed. I think that people can find more information on most online sites,i.e. Wikidpedia, etc.

I Bought It. I Read It. I Recommend It.
I thought I'd say that as the owner of a sixteen-month-old female black lab I learned a lot of useful information from this book. It doesn't waste time, and always comes straight to the point: something I tried to do with this review.

Great Summary Treatment On Owning A Labrador!
As a person who has had the distinct pleasure of sharing my house and my life with as many as six Labrador retrievers at a time over the last 20 years (I now have five), I am acutely aware of the wonder and awe associated with getting such a wonderful companion can be. yet, sadly, I am also aware of the profound ignorance many would-be labrador-people are regarding how to select, introduce, and socialize this new member of the family. In that sense, this book , along with a number of others such as Richard Wolper's "Family Dog", can provide the wary would-be initate with all of the essentails on how to successfully transform that cute little puppy into a happy, obedient, and well-integrated member of the household.

This book does offer one the expert advice one needs regarding the care and nurture of what has now become the single most popular breed in the United States, with information ranging from an impromptu history of Labrador Retrievers to such topics such as adoption options. The book also features a wealth of facts and details regarding Labrador Retrievers. It provides essential and vital information regarding nutrition, socialization, and exercise, and offers some sage advice about how to find and select a reputable breeder. In addition, it also touches on aspects of ownerships such as common illnesses and chronic problems associated with the breed. This is a book I can heartily recommend!

guide to owning a cocker spaniel
This book aritcle didnt have the informationtion that I was searching for.My Dog is not for show and Ive had her nuetered so she isnt for breeding.She is a pet for my three grandsons and I was looking for in formation on the dogs health problems, such as cataracs, hip didplacement and why do they get the gunk in the corners of their eyes and the best way to train my spaniel to obey me

Not as informative as I had hoped
After recently purchasing a cocker spaniel puppy, I was looking for a book that would give an insight to temperament, behavior, and possible health concerns of cockers.This book touched very briefly on these subjects andfocused more on details for owning a show-dog.Since our cocker is purelya house pet this information did not interest me.There was very little interms of the insight of understanding cocker spaniels and the best way oftraining your cocker.There are lots of cute pictures of all the differentcolors cockers come in, but other than that I didn't get much informationthat I was seeking from this book. ... This book gives a good overview of breed characteristics, and has the obligatory cute pictures of dal's of all ages.It doesn't go into enough depth on what kind of family this dog's personality fits best with... I gota basic understanding of the dog's requirements, but got "This dogneeds exercise to be happy", when i had hoped for something like"Be sure this dog gets to spend several hours outdoors running aroundall day" or some statement about if it's suitable for apartment livingwhere only 2 walks a day are feasible. ... The right stuff
My book just came today and I was very happy with what I've read. I enjoyreading the reviews to see how others feel about a book and I'm happy tosay it's true. This book does have the right stuff. I'm a soon to be a newdachahund owner and this book does have what I wanted and need to know. Ifyour looking for something good and some cute pictures I tell you this bookis the one. I also wanted to thank all the people that do write a review,not only with this book but with others I've bought in the passed. Good Basic book
This book gives you a lot of basic general information, not going into much detail in any subject. But touching on about every subject a new Dachshund owner should know. Look else where for advance information. Butfor a start book it is one of the best I have read.

Does this book contain recipes?
Sorry everyone, this is a question, not a review! I just purchased Dr. Pitcairn's holistic health book, and this one looks like it is a great companion to that book. However, I was disappointed by the lack of recipes in the Pitcairn book-- does this book contain recipes?

If not, can anyone recommend a good recipe book for homecooking?

Great Book!
Boy, now this is a detailed book.This covers every area of holistic care for your canine.I love that it covers aroma therapy, homeopathy and flower essences, in addition to others.These were the areas that I was most interested in.The information is very detailed, which I loved.It's so nice to have every area covered in one book instead of having to buy numerous books to find out information on various subjects.It also covers massage and TellingtonTouch which you'd usually have to buy individual books for information on these subjects.Preview the table of contents and you'll find what you're looking for.Very good book to have on hand.

Holistic Pet Care
Over the last several months I have become more interested in learning about natural healings/alternative medicine for myself. Then I got the idea to look for it also for pets animals. I found this book to be very insightfully there are so many different things that fall under holistic care. I will defiantly be reading and learning more about various holistic methods (i.e. massage therapy, aromatherapy, herbs, Bach flowers etc). When I get a new puppy sometime next year I plan to take him to a holistic vet and luckily I think I have found a wonderful clinic thats close to me and combines both holistic treatments and modern vet medicine. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in holistic opportunities for their pet.

A must for anyone with an aging dog
I'd highly recommend this wonderful book. Not only is it a valuable reference for my kindle, but an enjoyable read as well that will give you a new insight into your old canine friends. I've owned multiple dogs my entire life and I've been down the aging dog road many times before, but I've been surprised just how much I've learned from this book. I wish I'd had it years ago and I'm glad I have it now.There is much wisdom within and it's worth every penny.
