Luma Native Housings unorthodox method of collecting data wasnt recognized by Statistics Canada though, because the workers didnt use the proper mathematical parameters to collect the information.

The CPI measures the overall rate of price change for a fixed basket of goods and services bought by households. Because it prices the same items every month, this measure of inflation or deflation reflects the cost of maintaining the same purchases over time.
