Archaeologists At The World Trade Center with its blend of archaeological science, pathology, entomology, environmental science http://archaeology.about.com/library/weekly/aa091901a.htm
Extractions: Sophia Perdikaris's home page On Sunday, September 16, Dr. Sophie Perdikaris of the Brooklyn College Archaeological Research Center sent a message to the FBI offering her assistance as an archaeologist for the salvage efforts at the World Trade Center disaster in New York City. The FBI is presently considering her offer, and in the meantime over 200 archaeologists from around the world have already contacted Dr. Perdikaris, volunteering time, equipment, and assistance for the project. This is not the first time that archaeologists have assisted with horrific crime scenes. The scientific methods developed by archaeologists to interpret the remains of the past are more and more frequently used in forensic situationsthose associated with the law in some form or another. Over the past decade or so, archaeologists such as Eric Stover and Clyde Snow with Physicians for Human Rights have been investigating the mass murder sites in Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia, and unlawful executions in Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras, and Mexico.

Extractions: Women Inventors ... Mary Bellis Colored cotton agriculture began around 2700 B.C. in Indo-Pakistan, Egypt and Peru. It was then common for cotton to grow in a variety of natural colors: mocha, tan, gray, and red-brown. The industrial revolution brought us industrial cotton looms. Short-fibered colored cotton was replaced by long-fibered all white cotton that processed better in the industrial looms. The natural-colored varieties grew almost extinct, until Sally Fox rediscovered a small amount of brown cotton seeds in 1982. Fox began to research creating a commercially viable long-fibered colored cotton (better for the looms of today). The invention was called FoxFibre, a strong long-fibered colored cotton.
