Both are in accordance with the NSW Board of Studies current History and Modern History syllabuses. A program is offered in the topics of the mandatory syllabus, which reflects the focus areas of study and enquiry questions of the syllabus. The program promotes students' interpretation, analysis and empathy by using a variety of forms, sources and perspectives. Sessions can be presented as a single topic or as combined topics. For large groups arrangements can be made for the education officer to bring the program to schools in the metropolitan area. This program focuses on the key features and requirements of the new syllabus. Emphasis is placed on the skills of interpretation, analysis and evaluation of the sources. Students are encouraged to recognise the difference between usefulness and reliability, to consider different perspectives and to present their conclusions based on evidence. Original source material includes photographs, propaganda, recruiting posters, letters, postcards, cartoons, medals, objects, newspapers, maps and magazines.

Although she had no formal or personal connection with the University, she was reassured by the confidence and gratitude of John Coolidge, then director of the Fogg Art Museum. Over the next few years, as she transferred her residence from Rhode Island to Connecticut and her personal commitment from art collecting to environmental rights concerns, she continued to donate works from her art collection or put them on deposit at the Fogg for future donation and bequest, without ever losing her passionate commitment to the value of art or her interest in museums. Extractions: Environmental Surveys and Diagnostics Environmental factors including moisture, temperature and light are among the most significant mechanisms in the deterioration of works of art. Moisture in particular, and its effect on the building fabric, is one of the most important elements in the deterioration of in-situ monuments and wall paintings. The key to the successful long term conservation of such vulnerable objects is the prevention of deterioration rather than treatment once damage has already occurred. In order to control the underlying causes of deterioration, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of the factors involved, and it is for this reason that the investigation of the environmental conditions has become a key element of preventative conservation. When moisture is encountered in historic buildings it is often described using the generic term damp . However, without a clear comprehension of the various types of moisture which are contributing to the damp the chances of successfully controlling it are low. Indeed, mis-diagnosis of moisture related problems is all too common and the implementation of incorrect control systems (such as heating, ventilation or drainage) is not only costly but can exacerbate the problem. In the worst cases, following successful diagnosis, it may be necessary to replace the new control system leading to yet further cost and delay in preventing the deterioration of the work of art. It is for this reason that where moisture related problems are suspected, an environmental survey is becoming a standard first step in tackling the problem.

Agenda 21, Chapter 40 on information for decision-making outlines the needs of improved capacities for information management to make environmental information better accessible. UNEP's Division of Environment Information and Assessment (DEIA) mandate is "to provide the world community with improved access to meaningful data and information, and to help increase the capacity of governments to use environmental information for decision-making and action planning for sustainable human development". To meet these needs UNEP/DEIA is providing assistance to developing countries and countries with economies in transition to strengthen their environmental data and information management capacities. Programme outputs will be an operational global environmental information network. The UNEP approach consists of four stages of activities (Assessment - Feasibility - Implementation - Operational) for which guidelines have been developed. Among these stages, the assessment will give the first broad overview of the environmental information situation in the country.
