Independent Living Program is a specialized program for teens aged 12 to 21 located in the West Hawaii area that are primarily in permanent DHS foster care. This program is geared to one-on-one and group interventions to assist with teaching and practicing skills needed for living independently. The program can assist former foster youth up to age 21. Foster Parent Support Project provides education, support and information to foster and adoptive parents of children who are in the custody of DHS Child Welfare Services and are pre/post permanency. The Project is intended to stabilize the placements of foster children and support families interested in adopting foster children. North Hawaii Child Development Program is a family support program for families of infants and toddlers with developmental delays who live in the North Hawaii area including the communities of Waikoloa, Waimea, Kohala and Honokaa.
