Extractions: 9: Curry School of Education General Information Teacher Education Degree Programs Course Descriptions Faculty ... General Electives The five-year program leading to endorsement in health and physical education (with a possible add-on in athletic training) requires that all students transfer into the Curry School of Education for a combined B.S.Ed.-M.T. degree. This health and physical education program follows the same format as the B.A.-M.T. option, but is located entirely in the Curry School due to the specific disciplinary course offerings related to human movement sciences (e.g., anatomy, kinesiology, motor learning, and sport psychology). Health and physical education majors must take BIOL 201-202 and a lab as part of the natural science requirements. Students must take a variety of performance courses and are therefore not required to complete the foreign language courses within the humanities area (although 12 credits of humanities are required and may include foreign languages). The content major for health and physical education focuses on human movement sciences such as anatomy, health topics, kinesiology, exercise physiology, motor learning, etc. This program qualifies individuals to meet endorsement requirements to teach physical education and health K-12. The program is designed to meet all AAHPERD (NASPE) certification requirements.

The Truths Taught in the True Esoteric Schools In the schools now forming, the emphasis is upon soul awareness, [276] spiritual knowledge, and understanding of the higher forces, direct and first-hand knowledge of the spiritual Hierarchy which governs the life of our planet, a comprehension (progressively developed) of the divine nature and of the Plan which, in obedience to the will of God, is increasingly conditioning world affairs. The laws governing the individual, humanity and the kingdoms in nature are studied and the whole Science of Relations (as it is unfolded in our evolving world) becomes the practical interest of the disciple. As he establishes right relations with himself, with the world of spiritual being, in the world of human living and with all forms of divine life, the awakening of his own nature will automatically take place, his centers will become vital sources of spiritual power, and his entire constitution will swing into rhythmic activity and consequent usefulness. All this will, however, happen because of his correct adjustment to God and man, to his unfolding understanding of divine purpose and to his knowledge of the various scientific techniques and laws which condition all phenomena, man included.

Extractions: Entry into a teacher education program is achieved after you complete your undergraduate degree. Therefore, aside from meeting the general admission requirements for entry into undergraduate studies, which includes Grade 13/OAC English, no specific subjects are required. Courses in art, music or drama may be of assistance if you wish to teach elementary school. You should be sure to think about what grade levels and subjects you might want to teach. This will help you to decide what you want to study at university. What university background is required? You should try, as early as possible, to obtain some experience working with groups of children or adolescents. Volunteer to lead a youth group, teach Sunday school, coach a team, assist in a classroom, etc. This will not only help you decide if teaching is a good career choice for you, but will also give you some of the experience you will need to do it well. Suitable experience is a factor in your admission to the OISE/UT Initial Teacher Education program. Participation in extra-curricular activities in high school and university will also assist you if you want to be a teacher. Drama, music, public speaking and sports activities are particularly useful. Experience working or volunteering with exceptional children or adolescents is very valuable.

Talking Point Education Contents: Hot Topics UK Systems League Tables Features Wednesday, 18 December, 2002, 12:30 GMT The government is aiming to recruit adults without formal teaching qualifications to deliver its promise to teach foreign languages in primary schools in England. A shortage of qualified language teachers means its proposals to make language lessons available to seven-to-11 year olds will depend on using adults who are not fully qualified teachers. The strategy, which runs up to 2010, is aimed at addressing Britain's poor reputation for linguists - at the same time as the government is dropping the compulsion to study a language to GCSE level. It intends to allow youngsters in secondary schools to drop the study of a modern foreign language at the age of 14. 'No point' "I don't think there's a great deal of point in forcing people to go through the process of learning a foreign language at 14 when they really are completely switched off as I'm afraid a number of children are," the Education Secretary, Charles Clarke, said in a BBC News interview. "The people we are talking about at 14 are people who haven't got any familiarity with foreign languages at all and really aren't gaining everything from it.
