4-0 out of 5 stars Matthew Mead's Monster Book of Halloween
I purchased this book for my daughter who love's Halloween. She loves the book and so did I when I looked through it before wrapping it for her. The directions and pictures with the various recipes and crafts are clear and easy to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book, deceiving cover..
When i first saw this book i was hesitant to purchase it because the cover didn't really catch my eye or hint at anythng really interesting inside. When i first opened it i was very suprised to see that it was completely full of awesome ideas. Some of which i've never seen before (and i own several Hallowen decorating books). I fell in love with this book when i flipped through all the ideas and recipes and i promise you that you'll love it if you really love Halloween!

2-0 out of 5 stars Similar to First Book
Although Matthew Mead's "Monster Book of Halloween" is itself a great book on Halloween entertaining, it was a disappointment for me having already purchased Matthew's "Halloween Tricks and Treats".In fact, I felt totally ripped off to see the same recipes, pictures, and designs in his second book.

If you are buying one book for Halloween I recommend either of his books, but if you are like me and crave a constant parade of new ideas and creative crafts , buy only one as the second is basically a repeat.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great, fun book!
My 5 year old son found this at the library when the cover looked interesting to him. It's a really fun book. It's a good length for bedtime, and everything rhymes. All kinds of interesting creatures are included here from Dracula, aliens, to the headless horseman. My son particularly likes monsters, costumes, and all that so for him it's the perfect book. I suppose parts may be a little scary to younger children, but the illustrations are meant to be lively and fun. The basic story is a boy and his dog stumble onto this late night cafe where Zombies go to eat. They watch everyone coming and going until the invislbe chef chases them out. ... Read more

Product Description
There are ghosts in the cemetery near Malcolm David’s house, and they’re filling the air with their spooky OOOOOs and EEEEEs and ARRRRs. When Malcolm David dares to go looking for them late one night, he is surprised to discover that the eerie howling is actually coming from the ghosts’ empty stomachs. They’re not trying to scare anybody— they’re just hungry, and they don’t know what it is that ghosts are supposed to eat!

A satisfying read-aloud for Halloween or anytime, this book mixes playfulness and lyricism as only Newbery Honor–winning author Julius Lester could do it. His dynamic text is well matched by Geraldo Valério’s glowing, happy artwork. ... Read more

Product Description
Arriman the awful, the wizard of the North, announces a contest-the witch who performs the darkest piece of magic will be his wife. Belladonna is dying to win . . . but she's too good-hearted. Can she summon up the evil side in time to win the contest?

"If you have read all the Harry Potters and don't know how you'll survive until the next, you must try Eva Ibbotson." (Book Sense)

"A zestsful adventure, perfect for fans of 'Harry Potter'." (School Library Journal)Amazon.com Review
Arriman the Awful, Loather of Light and Wizard of the North, needs a wife. How else can he have a wizard baby to carry on the family tradition ofblighting and smiting, blasting and wuthering? The problem is, wizards canonly marry one kind of person--a witch. Arriman dreads the thought. "Agreat black crone with warts and blisters in unmentionable places fromcrashing about on her broom! You want me to sit opposite one ofthose every morning eating my cornflakes?" But a witch it must be,so Arriman holds a contest to decide which witch. The local witches are allatwitter over what spell they'll perform for the contest--all exceptBelladonna, who is, to her great shame, a white witch. She looks ratherlike the girl on the Clairol Herbal Essence bottle, with a sweet face andflowing blonde hair. "There was usually something in Belladonna'shair: A fledgling blackbird parked there by its mother while she went tohunt for worms, a baby squirrel wanting somewhere safe to eat its hazelnuts, or a butterfly who thought she was a lily or a rose."

Black spells are cast, enchantments are woven, and even Belladonna managesto do a little damage in this wonderfully clever 1979 book by Eva Ibbotson(of The Secret of Platform13). Young readers will delight in the way Ibbotson glories in theghoulish and the gory--and in her engaging characters who are kindly andfiendish all at once. Which Witch (finally reissued in the UnitedStates) begs to be read aloud, with before-bed-length chapters and lots ofopportunities for funny voices. (Ages 9 and older) --Claire Dederer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Which Witch
Some people think it's too predictable, and part of it is.but part of it isn't. Great little twist at the end. I especially liked the symphony of death and Sir Simon Montpelier.Great fun when Mother Bloodwort fails epically at magic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Which Witch by Charlie
Which witch is one of the funniest books I have ever read! There are seven witches.
Belladonna, Mother Bloodwart, Nora and Nora the shouter twins, Mabel Wrack, Mother Olimpia and old Mrs. Ethel Feedbag. Each of these terrible witches had a strange pet, all except poor Belladonna who did not have the least bit of badness in her. "I feel sorry for her". One day a handsome wizard named Arriman who lived in the smelly hills near the swamp in a vast mansion said to the seven witches of todcaster that who ever did the blackest magic would become his new wife Mrs.Canker, Queen of Todcaster.
All of the witches were spellbound and started right away on their gruesome plansto become the Queen of the town of Todcaster.
All poor Belladonna could do was watch the witches with a longing ness to become as dark and wretched as the other witches were.
Then all the hurtful sorrow drained from her heart when she met a small boy who was an orphan and the only company he had was a small worm that he had named Trevor.
When she touches the worm she has evil powers beyond belief!
Will Belladonna win Arriman!

5-0 out of 5 stars Frightfully funny!
Arriman the Awful, a wizard of great power and darkest evil, has grown bored with his life. Realizing that he needs a son to carry on the cause of darkness and evil, Arriman searches for a suitable wife. Only a witch of the darkest evil will serve, but which witch? The obvious course of action is found, a competition in evil witchcraft, with the witches in formal evening gowns!

Among the witches, though, there is one who nobody expects to win, the pretty and (most shockingly) white witch Belladonna. Alone among the witches, Belladonna has fallen in love with Arriman. When the exceedingly evil Madame Olympia, who has already married and done away with five husbands, Belladonna realizes that she must be blacker than she has ever dreamed of being if she is going to win the contest and save Arriman. But how?

This book is frightfully funny (pardon the pun)! The characters are interesting and funny; the storyline slides along keeping you glued to the pages. This is a great book, suitable for all ages. I highly recommend this book.
