75 delectable cookie recipes
I bake a lot, and I read cookbooks all the time, looking for good recipes.I went to the library to copy down a few Christmas cookie recipes, but the recipes and photos in this book looked so great I realized I had to buy it.I have NEVER before found a cookbook where I want to try every recipe in the book, but every recipe in this book scans great (usually my thought pattern is:that sounds good... wait, how much vegetable oil does this recipe call for?eewwww...)If you are looking for Christmas cookie recipes, this is the book I'd get.

The only book you will need
I have used this book time and time again, and not only for Christmas.The recipes are accurate, easy and great.The color photos really show how the recipes should look and they will!I have made more that a dozen different types of cookies from this book and each one was good if not great.The only problem I have with this book is that the ingredients are written into the directions.This makes it a little more time consuming when you are trying to get your recipes ready before the actual assemble and baking process.A minor set back for a really great book.

Holiday cookies that look great and taste good!
I've used this cookie book when making holiday cookies for family and friends for the last several years, and the results have always been a huge hit.Too often Christmas cookies look great but taste terrible - not something to worry about with this book.I particularly recommend the Cranberry-Cherry Pinwheels.They are delicious and surprisingly easy to prepare.However, be forwarned that most of the recipes in this book are also found in the new Joy of Cooking.Joy is great and much more comprehensive.I'd recommend taking a look at it before buying this book.

A must-have for holiday baking!
As the designated Christmas cookie baker in my family, I was given this book about three years ago. It's a wonderful resource for new ideas and rediscovering old favorites. I heartily recommend the snickerdoodles and the orange ginger wafers.

Fantastic Book for People of All Religions!
This is a truly wonderful cookbook and an asset to anyone who loves food, regardless of their religious affliation. I am not Jewish, but having been born and raised in New York City I grew up loving classic Jewish dishes. This book covers them all, and goes one step further by reinventing these classics into truly gourmet masterpieces.Who would have thought that kugel could be transformed into a whimsical dessert such as Double Ginger-Caramelized Pear Noodle Kugel?! With wonderful stories and illustrations interwoven throughout the recipes, this book is a must have for any food lover.

kosher for today
I especiall y like the improvisation part.Here, In Gainesville, FLthere is no kosher restaurant and kosher food is not easyto find.One ca never get a fresh kosher chicken here, only frozen.

Good...but lots of repeats from "The Gefilte Variations"
This is a very fine cookbook--Jayne Cohen writes beautifully and her recipes are innovative and excellent.However, I was quite disappointed to find that many of the recipes in the book--and even the headnotes--are just reprints of recipes from her previous cookbook, The Gefilte Variations: 200 Inspired Re-creations of Classics from the Jewish Kitchen, with Menus, Stories, and Traditions for the Holidays and Year-Round.If you already own The Gefilte Variations, you may not want to purchase this cookbook, too. ... Traditional Christmas is Wonderful
This is one of the best Christmas books I have ever found.There is a second one called Traditional Christmas Two that is also very good. They have everything from decoration crafts and ideas to gifts that you can make to recipies for those holiday meals and intertaining.I had both books and lost them in a move and did not rest until I managed to replace them.They are great!

excellent variety, something for everyone
I love this book.It has something for everybody. Even people who don't think of themselves as crafty will enjoy this book. And there are so many fun things in it that I have found something that I didn't notice beforeeverytime I look through the book.And it has different skill levels too. There are projects you can do with the kids, or if you are ambitious, thereare detailed christmas villages you can make.Even the recipes for holidaycooking are fun and easy.If you want a good all inclusive book for theholidays this is the one.Another book I would recommend for the holidaysis "Old-Fashioned Christmas Favorites".It has great traditionsand recipes that are old time favorites that may have been forgotten.

Very Nice Book
Beautiful photographs.Instructions are easy to follow and supplemented with photographs.I was disappointed that the recipes emphasize use of the microwave oven.(We have opted not to have a microwave oven). They don'tgive parallel instructions for conventional ovens.Otherwise a great book. Everything from traditional to creative new crafts.I'm glad I bought it.

Kosher cooks: Use caution when using these recipes
This is a little tiny book with only a few recipes - but won't complain because of the low price it was offered at. Kosher cooks should be aware of the fact that at least one recipe mixes dairy and meat products. So it is sort of odd that this is a non-kosher Hannukah cookbook. Another great Penny Whistle book
I have many of the Penny Whistle books, and this one is as charming as the others.There are plentiful ideas for fun Christmas-themed parties here, accompanied by--as ever--charming and whimsical illustrations and margin notes.This series never takes itself too seriously, which is part of what I'm drawn to.As usual, the book lists parties from younger ages all the way up to adult Christmas festivities, and the ideas (and recipes) are clearly explained.Lots of scope for imagination, and really fun.

Excellent holiday historical coffee table book
I first heard about this book on a PBS program and found a copy in a local bookstore.It is chock full of wonderful photographs, great recipes, and lots of historical information about Christmas from all around the state. I highly recommend this book as a holiday gift for any current or formerTennessee resident, or those that enjoy this type of book.
