In 1975, Jerry Jampolsky cofounded the Center for Attitudinal Healing in Tiburon, California, where people with life-threatening illnesses practice peace of mind as an instrument of transformation. Based on the healing power of love and forgiveness, the 12 principles developed at the center, and explained in this book, embrace the idea that total giving and total acceptance are crucial to the healing process and that attitudinal healing can lead to harmony, joy, and life without fear. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Change mind on forgiveness
I have enjoyed and learned alot about love and it's meaning for all situations. I have learned to change my attitiude but I started that before reading the book. The use of a middle medication has helped me to slow down and not feel the anger or rage in my heart and mind... I am greatful to this author for helping me to change my attitude without going into counseling for assistance...

5-0 out of 5 stars This book changed my life
While reading this book, a particularly compelling passage jumped out at me. The gist of it is this: In every encounter we have with another human being, that person is either offering love to us or in need of love from us. In that instant, I became a better person.

Not long after, I walked into my gym and saw Bill, a member I knew fairly well, doing standing calf raises with his back to me. Impulsively, I wrapped my weight belt around his forehead as a goofy way of saying hello. He was not pleased. He whipped around and, in so many words, most of which were unprintable, told me he would punch my face in if I ever did that again.

Instead of reacting on the same level of consciousness--"Oh, yeah? Take your best shot, you jerk!"--I thought, Cool! Here's my chance to see if this love stuff really works! I immediately began radiating love from my heart and bathing Bill in its healing glow. I also tried to apologize, but he turned away, muttering angrily.

After hanging up my jacket in the locker room, I headed to the pull-up bar and began my workout. I dropped down from the bar just in time to see Bill striding purposefully toward me from the other side of the gym. "I mean it, Phil," he fumed. "If you ever do that again, I'll take you out to the parking lot and pummel you." With that, he spun around and stormed away.

This time, I followed him, pumping love instead of iron. "Bill," I called out, catching up to him. "I'm very sorry. I had no idea you would be so upset. It won't happen again." I continued apologizing until he turned to face me. "My sister used to do stuff like that to me," he sputtered. "And I hated it."

Bingo. Bill's outburst had nothing to do with me; I had inadvertently triggered a painful childhood memory. What happened in the next moment was astonishing. The heavy, negative energy that had enveloped him, the almost palpable rage that had engulfed him, vanished. It was as if a magician had uttered "Abracadabra!" and had replaced a violent thunderstorm with sunny skies. Instantaneously.

Bill cut me off in mid-apology. "Don't worry about it," he said calmly, dismissing the whole incident with a wave of his hand. "No big deal." An hour later, we were both in the locker room, preparing to leave. "So long, Phil," he called out. "Have a good day."

Wow. If I had responded to Bill's anger in kind, the confrontation could have escalated out of control. From that day forward, the tension would have been thick between us. Even worse, my enjoyment of going to the gym every morning would have been tinged with dread. Instead, love healed the situation, it healed our relationship, and it very well might have healed the pain he had been carrying around all those years.

May you choose love in every moment. It is a wonderful place to live. After all, divine intelligence does not keep score by how many possessions you accumulate but by how much love is in your heart. Why wait another minute to begin living that truth?

5-0 out of 5 stars Like coming home...
Even though this book was written several years ago...I find that when I return to it, even now, it is truly like coming home, like the warmth of visiting an old friend.Filled with wisdom and spiritual insight, it inspires and creates inner peace by reminding us all that our essence is, indeed, love...which "doesn't care what you call it...love just is.It unfolds endlessly and beautifully upon itself."Thank you, Dr. J.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love is all there is
In this slim volume there are all the words that we need to convey the idea that if we teach only about and with love there is no need for anything else.We are love and when we teach with that expression, only good can result.Easy to reach and one to keep for your library. It is a classic.

1-0 out of 5 stars 60s mind-expanding era meets 21st century love
The first few chapters held great promise, but this book got pretty weird quick. Clinics that teach only love are a great idea, but I'd rather have their workbook filled with application and result oriented material than this "guru's" personal history..."man". To save yourself a read, imagine someone you respect and trust, possibly more than anyone you really know. And they say to you, "In the moment of choice, when you choose how your heart will deal with a situation--use only love." When walk away from them, believe them wholeheatedly for the rest of your life and take time to remember and apply their words daily. Then, spare yourself the read on this book--it get's weird fast... Writing about your 60s mind expanding experiences? Come on, the movie Ghandi teaches more about love than this. (I threw the book away.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Based on sample text - defines meditation better than other books
I have only read about 20 pages available through Amazon's search-in-the-book feature. For the first time, I understand meditation and the benefits. Perhaps the Power of Now and Eat Pray Love made me open to this author's explanation. Though, I think this author is best of them all and the explanation can stand on its own. Really, after reading only 20 pages, and not even one of the recommended meditations, I get it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ground-breaking Manual for All Meditators
This extraordinary book takes you by the hand and guides you through the process of not only developing a deeper understanding of Meditation, but also shows you, in an evolving succession of concepts, examples and exercises, the ways in which we often lose sight of it. In these pages you will learn not just the principles behind Meditation, but simple, practical ways to apply those principles and increase your enjoyment of every day.
By distilling years of personal research and experience in meditation into this brief, easy-to-understand guide to awareness, Eric Harrison has created a work that can bring about rapid and profound changes in how you see the world and how you live your life.
This Book makes nice addition to Echart Tolle's "Power of Now". Honestly, this combination of books moved and empowered me in a way that no other book(s) have ever been able to do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Insiteful, informative book for beginners and advanced
Don't let the title fool you.Eric Harrison's book is not a spare `how to' manual, nor is it dumbed down to simplify the process. His lessons are woven between his personal style of writing. He explains the reason for doing meditating and provides the human and biological reason meditation works.
The lessons are simple to follow, and are the building blocks for further advancement.Once you understand what you are trying to do, it becomes easier to do it.
Harrison shows the reader how to focus, how to breath, and how to `watch with detachment', and he explain in detail so as to understand how these states occur naturally if we allow them to.As the reader progresses, he can work on aspects such as scanning, mantra, and visualizations.Harrison illustrates each practice and explains the biology and benefits derived.
As I read the book, I noticed how Harrison's `forgiving' view of meditation helped me to place realistic expectations on myself when I sat in the evening to practice. The goal is to clear the mind and relax the body, but sometimes this is difficult after a troublesome day.One sitting may take me into theta, but the next night I find I can barely make it out of beta. His view is that something beneficial will always come from focus and clearing the mind, even ifone session is not as `successful' as the last.It far better to let the body relax, the mind focus and not be worried about achieving an ideal.

So, does it work?I've not worked through all the lessons yet, but I have noticed changes.I'm sleeping better and handling anxiety more reasonably.I look forward to the 15 minutes I spend in sitting - the only time I allow myself when I refuse to fret about the day's mishaps(there's enough time to be anxious at work). My migraines are less to bother me and I haven't been in pain with my neck.By meditating consciously and thoroughly, I've come to realize I really haven't been relaxing. So, yes, I have attained the basics of meditation.
This book is not the one and only book to read on the subject and you may want visual manual to follow, as well(this book is text only)What the book *does* provide(which makes it an invaluable resource) is the basic skills in a simple, but thorough, format. After you learn the basics, then you can pick up a number of books and pull out other points to work on.
Apart from this, Harrison is an excellent writer, and even those who have been mediating for some time will still find insight into their practice. Those who are new to meditating will achieve the building blocks of mediation. This is an invaluable manual for all levels.
Now I'm looking forward to reading his other book, "How Meditation Heals".It's on order as I speak. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ABook Worth Reading
Confronting Lyme Disease: What Patient Stories Teach Us (IPPY Award Winner - Health/Medicine/Nutrition)

This is probably the best book I have come across on chronic diseases.I wish there were books like this for other chronic diseases.I came to know about this book when I was trying to help a Lyme disease victim, a friend of a family member.I got this book for them and they said it was very helpful for them. After they returned the book I read it and found how ignorant I was about this disease. This is probably one of the worst diseases to get.Considering all the hurdles these people have to go through having to get proper care.Misdiagnosis seems to be the normal pattern I see for all these brave worriers. My heart goes out for them.

One interesting fact about this book is the authors have provided all the references for people to get additional helpful information.Practically all the symptoms have been listed in the stories of these victims and it is easy to compare with your own symptoms.

I am not new to misdiagnosis by medical doctors.I have seen it all my life and experienced it myself many times. This is a must read book for all the people and not just Lyme disease victims. The most important facts to remember is "Doctors are not gods. They do not know everything.Medical science is very complicated."I only wish some of them are not arrogant but humble and listen to patients. There are a few good doctors we have to be lucky to get them.As it is written in this book please try to learn as much as possible about your disease and get all the help. All the references you need to consult are in this book.

I have been a researcher in medical science for the first 24 years and worked in pharmaceutical companies in developing drugs for the next 24 years of my life. The progress in medical science most of the time is by chemists, biologists, biochemists, pharmacologists and physiologists etc.Medical doctors are not responsible all the advancement in medicine.Dr. Rita Stanley is highly qualified with a background in Physiology and Biochemistry, a victim herself and helped many in a support group. She has Ph.D. from an accredited university and not a mail ordered degree. This is very well written book in a scholarly way.

The first scientist who was responsible for eradicating communicable diseases, Louis Pasteur is a chemist and a biologist. He constantly told every one he is not a medical doctor.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWARD WINNING BOOK SHOWS COMPASSION FOR LYME SUFFERING
This Award Winning book presents stories of Lyme patients with compassion, intelligence and a keen understanding of what it is like to have this illness. It is a timeless book about the human condition, and hope and humanity radiate through the personal stories of suffering. The reader is left with a better understanding of the personal nature of what illness can do to the body but that it cannot rob the soul of spirit.

The book seems to be a perfect companion to the new documentary "Under Our Skin: The Untold Story of Lyme Disease" and adds an insightful personal element to the book "Cure Unknown".

A few hate-filled recent reviews seem designed to divert the potential reader from this book by labeling it as "junk" and by attempting to negate the positive responses.Neither this book nor its subject matter could be considered anything less than compassionate, uplifting, and humbly intelligent.

1-0 out of 5 stars HAD FRIENDS DO 5 STARS! MINE IS IN TRASH CAN
This book came out and vast numbers were asked to write a positive review.

I bought the book, and have since literally thrown it away. No one reading what is out now could possibly find this to be a book with any staying power. It will drift slowly and surely to the back of this topic list due to useless medicial information, that some college freshman Lyme and tick infection patients know better. These non-physicians actually think they know better then real life treatment leaders and emerging thought leaders nationally and internationally. Are they sober? What arrogance!

And as to the stories of bad medicine.....Welcome to the modern world. We will be lucky if any good MD's are around in 25 years.

You were smart to get all your pals to write reviews. The book is trash.

1-0 out of 5 stars THE WORST LYME BOOK NOW IN PRINT
Lyme disease and its co-infections is supposedly strength of this book. Yet is clear neither author knows anything of serious use in advanced Lyme care and as to co-infections -- Forget about it!

Virtually every book in print is better than this poorly written junk. I know the authors told all their contacts to write a review because the US Constitution does not get this many PERFECT ratings. Get real.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and money
Boring. Painful. Tedious. Whining in agony.

If you feel the need to be miserable, buy this amazingly boring book. The ugly cover is the best part of this tomb of despair. These Lyme patient struggles are handled 20x better by the exceptional writing of two real writers:

PJ Langhoff's Large print version of "It's All In Your Head," Patient Stories From the Front Lines: Intimate Aspects of Chronic and Neuropsychiatric Lyme Disease

And by the Discovery Magazine Senior Editor, Pan Weintraub's celebrated masterpiece, Cure Unknown: Inside the Lyme Epidemic.

Why read in agony basic old information when you can read easy lovely prose from the real pros.

From The Intuitive Advisor After 20 years as a medicalintuitive advisor, I realized that teaching people how to listen for the intuitive message behind the disease wasnt enough to help them create true and lasting health.... [A] vital step was missingnamely, how to effectively respond to what their intuition was advising, and how they could learn to heal their lives and assist in healing those around them. thats when I came to the realization that the health of each of the seven energy centers of the body depends on following a rule that involves balancing two seemingly opposite or contradictory qualities in our lives. I call this set of balancing acts the Seven Rules for Intuitive Health. Just as harmonized brain function depends on having both the left and the right hemispheres in sync, healing body and mind in each of these seven energy centers or chakras involves following a rule to balance dual identities and engage two paradoxical mindsets simultaneously. thus, learning the Seven Rules for Intuitive Health will help you create a healthy mind and body. 5-0 out of 5 stars Nice book to teach toddlers about bathtime
I highly recommend this book (and the entire Joy Berry Classic "Teach me About" series). The pictures are cute and the words are nice and simple. It is able to keep my 2 year old daughters attention. The subject matters are very age appropriate and I know that she is learning important social and environmental skills while having fun doing it. I think these books are a wonderful tool!

1-0 out of 5 stars Pretty lame
Someone gave me this book and another from the series (Mealtime). While I applaud the concept of books that teach children about appropriate behavior, I have a very low opinion of these books and can not recommend them.
The writing is very uninspiring. "I do not want to get my clothes wet.I take my clothes off.I want to get my body clean." Maybe this type of language could be good for early readers but the version I have is a board book (for babies!) and I choose not to talk to my baby like she's an idiot with a rudimentary IQ.
The illustrations are also uninspired. They are neither colorful, nor interesting, nor beautiful. They look like a terrible textbook from the 80s.
Overall, these books are so boring that I have no interest in reading them. My daughter (now 1 yr old) is clearly unimpressed. She never selects them for me to read to her (as she does with other books) and she never sits and turns through the pages.
There must be other books out there that teach meaningful life lessons but come packaged in an artistic and clever book.
Sorry to be so negative but in my opinion, these books are boring and lame. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
I am a huge fan of the Joy Berry Classic series. All the books are well written and appropriately geared for toddlers to keep their attention. My 2 year old loves to read this book and talks about the girl yawning and going night night with her kitty. It has helped to teach her about bedtime routines. The books are sturdy and well written and my daughter loves to look at the pictures. The CD is great too. I highly recommend this book series. ... Read more
