Homeopathic Reference - new remedies
This materia medica has proving information for new remedies.It is interesting, but I haven't found any of the remedies to be particularly useful in practice.They are small remedies although I do understand some practitioners have had success with the remedies such as Salix and Butterfly Bush.I am glad I bought it as a reference and I did enjoy reading it.The descriptions are clear and the remedies could be tried when a polychrest did not do the job.

This book can be read by the general public with limited knowledge of homeopathy, but I would certainly not feel they could count on the remedies to do what they wanted.

Great reference for new remedies
This was my introduction to Colin Griffith's work. One of the challenges we face as homeopaths is keeping up with provings of new remedies. In this book Griffith presents concise materia medica on many and interesting new remedies. His approach is Vermeulen-like so if you're a fan of Vermeulen's work then you will enjoy this book.
He presents each remedy with the background information, including how the proving was done, then outlines the main keynotes, followed by the physicals and particulars. He also touches on other aspects like therapeutics and chakras (where the particular remedy may have an affinity). He makes many comparisons to other remedies that are informative and insightful and also demonstrates use of the remedies with case notes.
This book is a wonderful addition to my collection and an amazing resource for new remedies that is well written and presented. ... Read more

One of my top 3 most used books
I own two copies of this book. One for at home, one for travel. I am never without it. It is an indispensable tool for the homeopath. Abdur Rehman has performed a great service to homeopaths and patients alike by compiling all this very very useful information, gleaned from the vital knowledge and experiences of some of the best minds in homeopathy.

The layout is eminently clear and easy to use with 685 remedies listed in alphabetical order and containing sub-headings on Miasms, Temperament, Laterality, Related Bowel Nosodes (if any), Remarks (on major known actions and interactions), Foods to be avoided, Foods to be encouraged, Complementary Remedies, Followed well by, Inimical, Antidotes, and Collaterals.

Each of the listed categories has sub-text relating to interactions and reactions in specific situations, with full references to which authors made such observations. There is a numbered bibliography of all said authors and their referenced publications at the end of the book.

There is also a very in-depth index, which cross-references all the symptoms, disorders, and variations thereof, mentioned throughout the book. A virtual Repertory in its own right.

The book itself is a very good quality hardcover, with a tight, solid binding. Both of mine have been used and abused endlessly over the past 5-6 years and are still holding strong.

This is not a cheap book in any sense of the word, but definitely worth every penny in every way. I recommend it very highly!

Absolutely Indispensable
I am a medical doctor and researcher and would like to congratulate the writer on this authoritative work of excellence - detailed, well researched, beautifully formatted and absolutely indispensable.

It not only lists remedy relations for 685 remedies (complements, follow-wells, collaterals, antidotes, durations etc) but also validates each piece of information with references!

I wonder how homeopaths the world over were doing without something as invaluable as this, since those who believe in, and work with 'disease layers' have to be aware of what follows well, what is inimical and which remedy to expect in succession.

Doubtless there were some books that dealt with this subject like the works of Gibson Miller, Sankaran, Chitkara and J. H. Clarke, but these were neither complete nor referenced. The Encyclopedia is a true classic and will stand every homeopath in good stead.

The author has painstakingly (it took him 16 years) put together advice and recommendations of Great Homeopaths of yore like Lippe, Nash, Farrington, Allen and Hahnemann himself, in a brilliantly systematic way. The work itself uses J. H. Clarke's Clinical Relationships as its basis.

If you want to get a taste of the wisdom of the Homeopathic Masters, gleaned from experience spanning two centuries, this book is a must-read!

Hats off to Prof. Abdur Rehman for his labor of love. As long as there are exceptionally gifted people like him with such an ardent love and regard for Homeopathy, there is hope for humanity.

where is the index?
I have been using homeopathy for over 10 years. This book covers a decent amount for a beginner, but it is very difficult to find something with no index. And it does not list something as common as sleeplessness, as all of my other books do. As with anything, I guess it is good to have more than one reference on a subject.

Fantastic Intro to Homeopathy for Dogs!
This is the BIBLE on alternative health care.I have 3 very old pets (Sheltie 15+ and cats 17+, 13+) and this has made all the difference in their old age being enjoyable for us all.I am fortunate to live in the Los Angeles area with a plethora of specialists in alternative health care for animals.That said, you get out of something what you put in and animals require proactive, educated owners.

This book allowed me, a novice when I bought it, to learn about other types of healthcare and, with a simple instructions, try homeopathy, chiropracty and acupuncture to treat my pets.

I love how the chapters are broken down by condition withspecific cross references to different types of treatment per condition.There are very helpful warnings for every condition indicating when you can try to assist healing on your own or when you MUST take the pet in for doctor's treatment.The section explaining flower essences was a mind opener.I have seen the wonderful results first hand time and time again.

I can honestly say this book has allowed me to work with the best doctors available and help my pets resolve the many health crises that arise as pets age.I can't recommend this book strongly enough and insist all my friends who get dogs buy it andDr. Pitcairns Natural Health book.Win-win.

This book is about mental and emotional disorders and how homeopathy can help (or heal the wounds). This book is written with insight and covers the most important remedies. A repertory and materia medica makes it complete.As to me this book should be on hand in all emergency units (police,firebrigades etc...). Homeopathy may help them get through some emotionalproblems when they are dealing with severe accidents, shootings etc...!

Full of Valuable Information
If this socialist healthcare really does go into effect; every person in America better have a copy since we will be on our own as far as our health needs. I bought this book to make sure I have some basic help and information about caring for the health needs of my family.

Follw-up to 1989 edition
I've recently re-read the 1989 version, which is an excellent book on Homeopathy, and was lookiing for an updated version by Dr. Weiner.

I want to say that two of the "reviews" on this book are referencing the WRONG Michael A. Weiner!They are talking about the conservative commentator Michael Alan Weiner aka Michael Savage.If my review is not posted, then Amazon needs to take those off that do not apply to this book/author!

Great addition
The book is well written with lots of suggestions to consider.People do indeed rely on prescription chemicals too much but dont realize its not the only answer. Dr.Weiner did a fine job.
