5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have!
Just stop for a moment, and imagine you could listen to the master hypnotist Milton H. Erickson give descriptions and examples of applying hypnosis for change. Wouldn't it be great? In these 1981 audio tapes, thatis what you get. The details and examples that Erickson gives apply to theuse of hypnosis in any context, and he says as much at the start of theseminar. The sound quality is typical for seminar audio tapes recorded then- monaural w/slight hollow sound and tape hiss, but clear and distinct. Now, like me, if you're interested in persuasion, sales, NLP, hypnosis, andcommunication you already know Milton H. Erickson's incredible reputationfor inducing trance. 5-0 out of 5 stars excellent book
I got this book as a text for a class, and it is one of the few textbooks I have ever read almost cover to cover.Well written, easy to understand, and highly informative.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, exactly what I wanted
This book was a text I required for a course I am doing and was $16 cheaper than buying it through where I am doing my course. It is exactly the text I was told I needed. It is a very informative, easy to read, and explains all techniques in a practical easy to learn form.I will read and re-read this text.

5-0 out of 5 stars A definitive reference in the field of clinical hypnosis
Hartland's book on hypnosis is a staple in the field. It has gone through many editions, this being the most recent and up-to-date.The information is scholarly, well presented, and clinically very useful. The authors do seem to have an academic bent and a bit of an anti-American bias. They question the importance of Milton Erickson's work and poo poo the NLP literature, while at the same time borrowing many clinical techniques from Erickson and NLP without giving due credit. That minor objection aside, I found this book to be richly clinically relevant and I would recommend it to anyone who uses hypnosis in clincial practice. It is one of the "Bibles" in the hypnotherapeutic literature.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything you want to know and more!
Very well written and easy to follow. Much more than I expected on topics that therapists encounter. Great book for those that are interested in hypnosis and want to learn how it is applied. Excellent for those that arealready practicing. Many scripts alone and how to use them make this bookwell worth the price. No steps left out. I have to keep this in the officeand often return to it for it's valuable information. For start to finishthis is worth it's weight for what you can learn and apply. Product Description
Why do we call this a "non-book"? Because this is not a text you "read at." Its very structure and contents are designed to put you into the Energized Hypnosis state as you learn how to do it at will. Reading is doing!!!

What is Energized Hypnosis? It is a breakthrough program for gaining personal power, peace of mind and enlightenment. The techniques of Energized Hypnosis were developed many years ago by Dr. Christopher S. Hyatt and Dr. Israel Regardie, but have remained "in the closet" ... until now. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A powerful ongoing tool for change
Deserving ongoing recommendation is ENERGIZED HYPNOSIS: A NON-BOOK FOR SELF CHANGE. It offers a different program for gaining personal power and enlightenment using techniques developed by the authors, offering an approach that energizes the body from self-suggestion and shows how to change habits through suggestion. New age and self-help/self-improvement collections will find this a powerful ongoing tool for change.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but...
This was a pretty decent book on NLP and trances. No where near as good as Undoing Yourself though. The tests and exercises are pretty good! Maybe the CD offers that something extra I am missing from this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars a great but very different book!
I have not finished this book but I can say that if you do the techniques it does work! I have never encountered a book that totally shifts my consciousness besides Eric Pepins Handbook of the Navigator. This book still works differently than the Navigator. I mean I thought "yeah right sure i am so going to go into a trance" very skeptical about the claims it made. So I started the first chapter and there I was in a completely altered state of mind to the point of giggling my butt off! I think if you really want to see some self change this book should be a must to read. I was very impressed my the 1st review that was posted about this book and was one of the reason's I decided to purchase it. I find this book humorous in some areas and very informative. It helps me to get awayalso.ASAP i will be purchasing the cd's. I am sure I will be happy with that purchase also. Highly recommended for those that want change but you have to do the exercises.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Effective, Highly Recommended
As a practicing psychotherapist, I can whole-heartedly recommend this non-book. It really delivers. The reviewer below might consider actually DOING the methods outlined in the non-book.

I also HIGHLY recommend going to the publisher's website and purchasing the two cd set that complements the non-book. Word of warning: the techniques only work if YOU work. Nothing is free and the fruit is equal to the effort.

3-0 out of 5 stars Well, I wouldn't call it "energizing"....
I will be reviewing the book only here, since that is what is currently available through Amazon.

Personally I found it disappointing, but I'm sure others will find it very helpful. I've read many basic introduction to hypnosis and self-hypnosis books over the years, and this one certainly is the most unique among them all.

It does an excellent job of explaining (in a non-bookish sort of way), why we continue to do the things we do, even when we don't want to do them anymore. It can serve as a kind of wake up call for those of us who are stuck in ruts of our own design. These are the qualities I enjoyed most about the book and can recommend it for. It compiles a large number of important concepts about self-development into a single comprehensive lesson.

On the other hand...

I certainly didn't feel entranced, hypnotized, or otherwise "sucked in" by the writing style. After reading the descriptions, I was expecting a much stronger hypnotic impact. Instead, I found it to be very much like a "normal" book - with information introduced in a direct manner, with the occasional attempt at "blowing your mind" with italicized suggestions, odd questions and unexpected statements. I give it points for originality, but if you're hoping this book will be like a session with Milton Erickson in print, save your money, it simply doesn't deliver on that level.

Finally, out of roughly 120 pages, the first 110 of them are dedicated to explaining basic information about how we develop unconscious patterns and self-limiting beliefs. There is virutally NO ACTUAL INFORMATION ABOUT HYPNOSIS IN THIS BOOK. So if you're looking for an introduction to hypnosis, look elsewhere, this isn't it.

Only in the final 10 pages does it finally get to the point and offer 4 unique methods for "undoing yourself" with "energized" hypnotic techniques. I'll say this, in keeping with the rest of the book, they're very interesting, and unique approaches to self-hypnosis.

And once again, while I think some folks will find them absolutely brilliant and effective, I personally dismissed them as time consuming, requiring more effort than necessary, and worst of all, completely lacking any in-depth explaination of the How or Why of each technique. I personally felt the author displayed a small degree of arrogance in the assumption that people would just do what he says, because he says so, without offering any particular reasons or supporting logic behind them. I don't know about you, but when someone tells me to jump, I ask "WHY?" not "how high?".

But of course, that's where the book ends and the CD's come in. Maybe they make it all come together like the other review suggests. Maybe when I finally listen to them, I will think it was all worthwhile and worth the $$$. Who knows? Anything's possible...

5-0 out of 5 stars Early Social Science on Past Lives
This was one of the first books I read about past lives. I found it fascinating because I was coming from a very intellectual background. Years ago, after reading it, I went to three of Helen's events, which were held in hotels in the San Francisco Bay Area, and what happened to me there changed my life.

I "remembered" or "re-experienced" some very amazing things, and went on to research what I had "remembered." I found historical evidence that what I had "relived" was true! An actual headstone in a graveyard with the name and date of death I'd come up with as mine??? Wow!!! That gave me a new perspective on who I was.

Since then, I have gone on to experience many metaphysical situations. I highly recommend this book as an introduction to the concept of reincarnation. She is very scientific in her data-gathering. Now that I "know" reincarnation as a personal truth, I'm not interested in documentation any more, but to a person who is skeptical or unsure, I would highly recommend this book for the research. ...
