CARE of a pet iguana is very involved!!
I agree fully with Zoe regarding "I Wanna Iguana" being a well written children's book, however, as a lover of iguanas, and for the sake of iguanas, I must stress to parents to NOT buy your child(ren) an iguana as a pet!

The actual care of iguanas is very involved and I wrote the following for two reasons: 1. this entry is intentionally rather lengthy (and still there is so much more about iguana care), so if this entry is too much for you to read, save the iguana and do not get one as a pet, and 2. if you are seriously considering getting an iguana, then perhaps some of my experiences will benefit your iguana (and please, please do a lot more research - beforehand!).

An iguana's diet does NOT consist of lettuce as stated in this book!!Lettuce has absolutely no nutritional value, and to feed an iguana solely lettuce would ensure a slow, painful death for him/her (I have read that some iguanas will prefer lettuce if introduced to it and may actually forsake nutritional foods).Iguanas have very special diets that consist of a wide variety of foods - and even if the pet store clerk may say all they need is vitamin supplement sprinkled on lettuce... very, very wrong!

Correct calcium and vitamin D intake levels for an iguana is crucial, which can only be attained from a proper iguana diet and sufficient exposure to direct sunlight (not through a window).Too much calcium and calcium deposits can form internally, causing organs to malfunction (i.e. in the bladder), or visibly under the skin (most likely a sign the prior has already occurred).Too little calcium and their bodies consume it from their bones.Not enough direct sunlight exposure (production of vitamin D), and the iguana cannot process the calcium, no matter how much calcium is given.It is a balance that cannot be achieved safely for the iguana by trial-and-error.

Also, iguanas need an environment that is both warm and moist all of the time - their native environment is tropical.Iguanas are cold-blooded creatures which means they cannot generate their own body heat.Sure, pet stores sell those electrical heat rocks, but they are very bad for all reptiles; not only do heat rocks hinder the iguana's digestion because of uneven heat distribution, but I have also seen an iguana's poor belly after it was burnt by one.The environment can be simulated, but any fluctuation or interruption (power outages, winter drafts, iguana escapes to a cold room) for even a brief period could mean death for the iguana.

And in response to Zoe's concern about caging an animal, it is possible to have an iguana roam freely in a room, though the entire room would have to be kept warm (consistently around 85° and up to 95° in the basking area), humid (65-75% humidity), and iguana-proofed.Not only proofed from other pets (dogs and iguanas generally don't cohabitate well), but given that iguanas lick every few steps they take - it is their way of smelling - they could potentially ingest harmful substances.And, especially when smaller, iguanas can get into places you wouldn't think possible!

Iguanas are extremely sensitive to their surroundings; one of mine died when I went on holiday for two weeks - a friend took him to his house and the iguana stopped eating.And similarly, another died just because I moved the aquarium to the other side of the room - he stopped eating, and refused to eat even after I moved everything back.I share these sad stories in the hopes to urge anyone who is considering an iguana as a pet to also consider the responsibilities involved and how properly caring for an iguana may impact everyday life.

I did have a very good experience with an iguana, but only because by then, I knew more about caring for an iguana and I had spent a lot of time with her from the day I brought her home.Summertime, I would attach a harness and leash and she sat on my shoulder at outdoor music festivals and the like, she would ride on the dashboard of my car - she went with me everywhere.But even tame as she was, every once in a while, she would still bite me, notably after having been basking (iguanas are very territorial - especially the males, and there's no way to tell their gender until they are at least a year and a half old).Iguanas can move quite fast when they are warm, and a bite from an iguana can be painful - they have strong, serrated jaws, and when they bite, they latch on and shake their heads from side to side.Also, their claws can get long and sharp and they have powerful legs (it is common to get scratched when holding an iguana and is quite possible for those scratches to become infected considering they may have walked in their poo).

Currently I am without iguana even though (though also because) I love them so much.It is for the reasons that I know that I can neither give one a proper environment nor devote the time necessary to spend with it so that it wouldn't just be that "nasty lizard that bites and whips me with his tail every time I get close."

And, like Zoe, I, too, am concerned that many children will want an iguana after reading this book, much like the wave of popularity that dalmatians rode after the movie "101 Dalmatians" was released - which resulted in scores of people getting a dalmatian without realising the commitment of having a high-energy, intelligent, working dog as part of their family (gosh, it wasn't at all like in the movie!).And, sadly, in turn, thousands of poor-quality dalmatians were produced by puppy mills, many of which had health and behavioral problems, and, many were neglected and/or abandoned.

This book should NOT be taken as advice on caring for iguanas - it is not as simple as the author makes it seem.I gave it a one-star review because I feel that the author did not do any research regarding care of iguanas and this story is misleading to both children and their parents on how "easy" it is to care for an iguana.I fear that many iguanas will suffer because of this book.However, if, by taking the time to write this, I have saved even one iguana from suffering dismal care, then I shall celebrate!

Unfortunate message
This is a clever and well crafted book with a positive explicit message about responsibility and careful consideration of an issue, so I am sorry to give it a poor review, but it's important to consider one of the implicit messages in the book that is not so positive.

The book is about a child who wants to adopt a pet iguana. Through a series of notes between the child and his mom, the child convinces his mom that he is caring and responsible enough to have a pet iguana.

The problem is that the question of whether wild animals like iguanas should be caged as pets never arises. Although we learn that iguanas grow to be 6 feet, we aren't asked to consider whether such an animal ought to be confined in a small cage in a house to begin with.

Being caring and responsible includes asking such questions. I'm concerned that if this book becomes a big seller, there will be a lot of children buying iguanas which would, in my opinion, not be a good outcome.

I hope that this author will write more children's books, however, because she is a very talented writer for children. And I hope that she'll examine humane issues at a deeper level in her future books.

I Thought the book was goingtobeboring.But,then I read it. I started reading it.It had funny looking characters and funny looking pets.The book was about a boy wanting a iguana and writing to his mother how bad he wanted it.

One of the FUNNIEST books I have ever read-period!
First, let me tell you that I have read MANY books!I have run the school book fairs for over 10 years.I love lots and lots of children's books but this one quickly jumped to the top of my favorite list.The illustrator is one of the best! The story is done in notes between a mother and her son, who is begging for a pet iguana.I dare you not to laugh out loud or have tears in your eyes from laughing!!!

HANK ROCKS!!!
The Hank Zipzer series of books are the greatest. Great job Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver ! They have such great (clean) humor and what memories it brings back from those awkward elementary school years. These books are geared not just for kids, but for adult enjoyment too. My son and I have read the first 4 and loved them all. They make for a nice book report for school too, each around 150 pages and they just whiz by. Another thing we like is that even from the first paragraph, it has your attention. :)

Great Fun
As the back of the book says: "Hank Zipzer: He's smart. He's creative. He's funny. His pencils are sharpened. His binders are bound. He wants to do well in school - he really does. He tries not to be lazy, like his parents claim he is. So why is he always getting into trouble?" Maybe just because he is Hank Zipzer. Hank is blessed with good friends, a good family, and even exceptional intelligence. The problem is he has learning disabilities, and even though he tries hard, things do not always go as he plans. With the big science fair coming up, who can imagine the problems Hank will run into.

Hank comes up with a fantastic idea for his science project. He plans on trying to make the TV Guide on cable easier for kids with learning disabilities to read. He plans to take apart the family cable box and experiment with it. But while he has the box apart his sisters Iguana lays eggs in it. Zipzer must rethink his plan and deal with a nesting Iguana under his bed. Oh what an adventure.

A great boy book.

This book talks about friends putting on a magic show for Hank's cousins.Frankie, one of Hank's friends, is the magician. He remembers that he wants to see a monster movie so Hank says he's going to record it.But he presses the wrong button. Frankie gets mad when they get home. Hank is so sorry he takes the cable box apart. They buy a new one the guy forthe cable company has a copy of the movie that Hank didn't record. Then Hank invites Frankie over to see the movie.I like this book because it has a good ending and it like he's talking to you.

Very Entertaining Book for your little ones
I bought the version of this book with the CD. My 5 year loves to listen to the story as he follows along. We speak a lot of Spanish at home but there are certain things that without practice are not clearly understood or just plain forgotten and this book does a wonderful job of teaching the days of the week in Spanish. The voices made for the characters are funny and he has inmensely enjoyed this book. As a matter of fact, we discovered it at the local library and he has enjoyed it so much that we ended up deciding to get him his own copy. The glossary at the beginning of the book, before the start of the story, is also read on the CD and it reinforces the words and pronunciation before starting the story.

A fantastic, multi-level picture book.
"Manana, Iguana" by Ann Whitford Paul and illustrated by Ethan Long is a funny, updated twist on "The Little Red Hen." Iguana's character is well-developed, as are the personalities of her friends Tortuga (tortoise), Culebra (snake), and Conejo (rabbit). Their excuses for not helping Iguana prepare for the Fiesta are hilarious, and I like how Ann changed up the ending.

This book succeeds on multiple levels. It is an endearing story with Spanish words and phrases interspersed throughout, giving it a wonderful Southwest flavor to go along with the setting. A Glossary and pronunciation guide of the Spanish words is included. Children will learn something about the Southwest's climate from the great illustrations, and they will learn some common Spanish words, including the days of the week.

"Manana, Iguana" is a book that's ideally suited for the classroom, the library, and every child's bookshelf.

I love this book!
This book is wonderful on several levels. It teaches Spanish to kids overtly AND under the radar. The character names correspond to the Spanish word for each character, so a child begins to associate that word with a picture and doesn't even know they are learning Spanish. I think this is very powerful. Secondly, the story is a fun remake of "The Little Red Hen" and teaches the value of being helpful... and being a good friend. I eagerly await more titles from this author.

This is an extremely clever book with adorable pictures, some basic Spanish interwoven throughout (including the days of the week), and a great lesson on helpfulness.

Excellent play, Excellent Bonus Features!
I bought this New Directions Paperbook because I'd seen John Huston's masterful film adaptation many times and wondered how it might differ from the original.I think this is one of those rare occasions when the original and the film are equally great.What really moves me to write my first Amazon review, though, is not only Williams' masterpiece, but also the generous features that New Directions adds to it:a list of Williams' oeuvre, a chronology of his life, the Williams short-story that inspired his play, and three superb articles.The first is a beautiful and affectionate memoir by prize-winning playwright Doug Wright. Another is by Williams himself, a memoir about how he came to write "Iguana". Another - the best - is a keenly insightful essay by Kenneth Holditch about "Iguana" - very comprehensive about its theology and characters.All this for 14.95??? What a bargain! THANKS, New Directions!

Disaster
The copy of Night of the Iguana was not as advertised. It had no dust jacket, and there were pencil markings in the text. In addition, it was badly molded and smelled atrocious. I would never buy from that seller again.

Then why do you read it?
The review under mine is ridiculous.This person obviously knows nothing about Tennessee Williams.And incidentally, I have no interest in his email address which he egomaniacally implies one should look for.The characters in this play are not hysterical (except Shannon once when he goes off the deep end, and that's not hysteria come to think of it).This is a beautiful, moving, perceptive and exceptional play.I won't give away the plot in case anyone wants to read it.Williams wrote lots of good and some great plays.This is a great one.I came upon this review (and the one under it which is just inaccurate, the reviewer apparently has a hard time grasping what he reads, if he read it) because I just saw the movie of this play and want to reread it again.I've read it many times, and I love it.I think (though I'm not sure) that Bette Davis played Maxine in the original production, and unlike Ava Gardner's (who was perfect in the part), her "Ha!" was (as is described in the stage directions) an explosion, and occurred frequently.One scene I will give away.Shannon tells Hannah about a place where the animals go to deficate.The place is so poor and the people are so hungry, that the people go through the dung looking for and eating bits of undigested food.Hannah goes behind a tree and throws up.That was left out of the movie.This is a very kind and gentle play.And emotionally (all the Williams' plays I've read are, he used to be a hero of mine, I've outgrown him, except for this gem) and intellectually (not so customary) deep.(That word "deep" will I hope turn you on, not off.)Oh.My email address isn't listed.

Just The Usual Hysterical, Needy, Pathetic Losers Who "Can't Make It Through The Dark Night!!!"
In this book we once again have the obligatoryemotionally tortured characters which are repeated in Tennessee William's works ad infinitum and ad nauseum. In this book the reader is introduced to Reverend T. Lawrence Shannon who seeks refuge in a run down Mexican Hotel.From there on we have the usual hysteria which was a signature of Mr. William's works. It seems that all of his plays and books were about desperate, needy , pathetic people who couldn't "make it through the dark night.My favourite line in this book is "Oh God can we please stop now?" which is exactly what I suggest Mr. Williams should have done with his typewriter.My new Email address is now available although you might have to hunt for a couple of hours on the Internet to find it!!!

Iguana in the Garden
I had no intention of buying this book until one evening in July my wife spotted something strange in her vegetable garden (in Akron, Ohio). Yes it was a juvenile green iguana that I managed to capture about an hour later. I was unable to find a local rescue society and did not want to give it to a pet store because we thought someone tossed it out and we did not want to have it sold to a like minded person.Several hundred dollars later the iguana, JJ, is living in my apartment.
I can only join in the many other reviews that highly recommend this book.It has everything you need to know about keeping iguanas including great advice on the "Ultimate Substrate" that I am using now.Combined with information from the Green Iguana Society I can't imagine that any question about pet iguanas would go unanswered. Just as important it shows these animals as having the potential to become friendly and endearing pets with a real personality. So if you are thinking about getting an iguana read this book, preferably before you acquire one.

A little more than natural history
David Quammen is a well-known writer who compiled this book of many of his articles from years past.He relates human issues to natural history phenomena in each article.I enjoy his style of writing however was bogged down by the political soap boxing by the end.Even though I agree with much of what he saw saying, I guess I just was not expecting the intense commentary.

my first taste of ecojournalism
I found this book at my university's library, checked it out, and read most of it that night.This collection of short essays is sure to raise questions in your own mind.This is my first exposure to ecojournalism, and now I'm seizing every Quammen book I can find!

"Flight of the Iguana" is a trove of odd and thought-provoking ideas about the natural world and our own place in it.When you read about the beginnings of cryptozoology, the cheetah's shrinking gene pool, and the life of a New York tree, you'll find yourself asking everyone, "Did you know...?"

Interesting Collection of Essays- A must for natural science lovers!
I was introduced to David Quammen by a student of mine and this is so far my favorite of his unique perspectives on the natural world.This is a good read even if science is not your life (as it is mine, for I am a high school science teacher)and it is a REALLY good read for those of you who live and breath the subject.The essays are short enough to be a light break when necessary and engaging enough to keep you occupied for an afternoon when the opportunity presents itself.

i had to read this book for my ecology class in college. it was probably the first text outside of literature class that i actually enjoyed reading; it didn't seem like homework. it made me laugh too. i don't even like science that much, but i really enjoyed reading this.

You could learn this info in about 20 years, or just buy this book right now.
I have had several other lizards for many years, so the next step would be an Iguana. Many people go the iguana route first and quickly learn how difficult they can be to own. Even though I would call myself a competent amateur herpetologist, I had no idea what I was getting into when we rescued our iguana. Once I got this book I was amazed at the information presented here.

About the author:
Melissa Kaplan is possibly the greatest resource today for anything relating to big lizards. She has been all over the web since it began. Her knowledge is vast, yet very accessible. Blend that with the tried and true For Dummies format and you get a tome of great wisdom and easy to read format.

As a reference:
An example of this is I talked with a couple of other iguana owners about an issue I was having with Spikey. The both had different answers that were both vague and not all that helpful. Once I received this book I looked up this issue and there was in-depth analysis and remedy for the issue.The whole book is like that.You can find simple "gee that is nice to know" right down the line to lifesaving tips. All presented in a digestible format. The end of the book contains massive list of all the plants and herbs that are both beneficial and fatal for your iguana.

Steal this book:
Well maybe not, however, it is so valuable to an iguana owner I would question them if I did not see this book in their library. Sure the internet is out there and Melissa has most of this info out on her website. It is not as complete as this book and her website even refers to the chapters in this book that explain what she may be discussing on her site.

Summary:
All in all this is more than a reference, it is a valuable tool that you should own if you are thinking about owning a green iguana, own one for a few months, or are an "expert". All of the bases are covered here.

This book is just what I needed for my Iguana. My daughter gave me her Iguana because she moved and couldn't take the Iguana with her and she was going to abandon it. Whatever happened to Magdalena?
Quick and easy to read, but not as easy to digest. This book has meat in it, like the kind around a real woman's hips. The art combined with the worded content fleshed out the events as they unfolded. A fun trip, a road trip, started out as a tag team of beginning motorcyclists, rolling into the end there was only one, singing. Gripping, entertaining, voracious, filthy, heartwarming. There always seemed a sense of fervency throughout, not to get the trip over, but to conquer life. And with The Girl Must Die: A Monster Girl Memoir coming out in September, we can only expect more quality intensity from Erika Lopez.

Hilarious! Laugh Out Loud!
I found this book when I was in college, struggling with my identity and trying to find some sort of direction in my life. I had no clue what I was about to read. The hilarious, wacky, down to earth journey the main character takes you on is amazing. I laughed so hard when reading this book. Years later this is still one of my favorite books.

Turning the American Road Novel on Its Head
An entertaining read - definitely a quick one. It attempts to turn the American road novel on it's head - by following two bisexual women as they cross the country on motorcycles, getting into crazy adventures, etc. It's also a "coming-of-age" story - as the narrative grows, so does the protagonist. It's reminiscent of On the Road as the story follows Tomato on her misadventures, with no purpose for hitting the road other than it's there to be hit, and life lessons are learned along the way. But the book breaks the road novel convention with illustrations (at times completely meaningless), and other stylistic leaps.

i laughed from the first page to the last. a total cheer-you-up book. funny and fun, silly not frilly. good times all around.

Frantic, Bizarre, Insightful and Muddled -- I Recommend It
Writing as her alter ego, Jolene "Tomato" Rodriguez, the always-entertaining Erika Lopez spins a tale that you will either adore or despise.It is difficult to feel ambivalent or indifferent towards her quirky story and over-the-top first-person narrator's scrambled but passionate outlook.Adjectives such as "spunky" spring inevitably to mind.

If you love motorcycles and/or good old-fashioned road trip stories, you will probably get a kick out of this book just for those factors, which form a dominant (if not overriding) theme here.And if you dig artistic, literary and (shall we say) "offbeat" bisexual women indulging in irresponsible, unaccountable fun you will probably enjoy it just for those (equally strong) elements.

I followed Tomato's journey with a mix of pity and delight; she is a Latina Bridget Jones on wheels.

You might be distracted or even put off by the strange fonts and even stranger clip art Lopez uses, which I found amusing and curious but ultimately unnecessary.Frankly, I would have loved this book just as much if it had been published in a conventional format -- I don't think the weird lettering and frequent graphic inclusions added anything to the plot.Many readers, I'm sure, will find it intrusive.As for me, I quit noticing it after a while, like the subtitles in a foreign film.It remains an interesting choice, however, and I suppose Lopez is trying to show us how Tomato's mind works.

FI is full of rough and dirty adventure, including enough conflict and sex to keep the casual reader interested even if the bigger issues slip by.I felt like this book could have been 25% longer.It seemed to run out of steam and stop rather abruptly.Then again, the fact that she left me wanting more seems to suggest that she wrote a fine and memorable novella.Lopez is at her best when she describes the sights and sounds (and smells) of her life on the road with a tone that is reminiscent of Charles Kuralt while still bubbling with colorful analogies and images in the style of Tom Robbins.Her brutally honest evaluation of motel-room sex with a virtual stranger is uncomfortably hilarious. ... Sweet Pickles Activity Bus
I have three sons ages 25, 20 and 17 and they all grew up learning with 'Sweet Pickles.' Not only the books but I had the little green activity bus. I gave the wonderful series away to a relative when my youngest son outgrew it.
I now have a home daycare for preschoolers and wish that I had kept the books and especially the bus and activity cards.If anyone out there is lucky enough to have the whole collection do not part with it.

My love of the Sweet Pickles series
I am such a lover of the Sweet Pickles series. I still have almost every book in the series. I am 27 years old now.My mother used to get them for me when I was growing up. My favorite character in the series is Iguana.They were always getting into some kind of mischief.I will put the titles of the books that I have at a later time.

Best Childhood Reading Memories!!!
I absolutely adored this series of books and now I want copies more than ever.I don't remember how I ended up with the whole series but they were by far my most loved and abused books as a kid.In the spirit of sharing the wealth (much to my own protests) my mother gave my collection to a younger relative when she thought I had outgrown them.I'm sure the relative enjoyed them as much as I did but I thought she should have found her own set and left mine alone!I hope that these delightful stories will be reprinted.I desperately want to collect the set so that I can enjoy the series from a parents' perspective when I have children.To anyone who is lucky enough to have copies of these treasures, by all means hold on to them, they're worth it!

great book series
We are having an Arts and Humanities fair in our school district. Our high school kids read to the preschoolers on our campus. We also have a science room with an iguana and we want to bring our iguana Iggy to the fair and we wanted a book to read to the children.I remembered the Sweet Pickles books I read to my daughter, she is now 23.We loved those books. This is the perfect book about an iguana and I hope all the children at the fair will enjoy it as much as my daughter and I did years ago. Recommend it and all the Sweet Pickles Books. T

Timeless favorite!
I am 32 years old and my brother is 28.We loved the Sweet Pickles books while growing up! Luckily my mother saved the few books in the series that we actually owned. Now my 2 year old daughter is in love with "Me tooIguana!".

These books are simple, easy to relate to and the topicsare timeless and totally applicable to young kids today.

Superb reading as always
I always enjoy Tom Corcoran's Alex Rutledge books, and this is no exception.I especially enjoy finding a main character who doesn't go around engaging in lots of violence and who actually rides a bicycle.Great reading, and set in my favorite place too---- Key West!

Kindle Version
Other people have stated the kindle version is junk.It appears they have created a better version and the one I read on my kindle was great.It had the new chapter format etc.

As always Corcoran writes a great story...
My wife and I both keep reading Tom Corcoran's novels and they are always great. If you've ever been to Key West his novels take you right back. These are by far the best modern novels set in Key West.

Better
This time you don't need a relationship chart. But why are all the killings in the Keys related to our hero? A more or less straight ahead hunt for the killer helps the reader turn the pages. The local color is still a big plus. Well done.

Don't buy the Kindle Version! It is a poor quality scan!
This is the first Kindle book that I have bought that was a poor quality scan and not a legitimate Kindle book, that could resize text, etc.The book shows up like a jpg scan and the quality is poor. I love the author and this series, but I was charged $9.99 for a very poor quality scanned copy!

Excellent travel writing
The author does a great job of providing historical background to the complexities of Mexican society. She covers the wide cultural and geographic diversity that epitomizes Mexico, and she takes us to remote areas that few "regular" tourists visit. I don't see the book as being critical of the U.S., rather Ms. Tree provides an insight as to how and why Mexicans have rather ambivalent attitudes about the U.S. It is unfortunate that more Americans do not have a more thorough appreciation for the culture and history of Mexico, and this book does a great job of showing what lies beyond the typical tourist spots like Cancun and Acapulco.

GREAT BOOK ON MEXICO
This is one of the most enjoyable books on Mexico I've read in a long time.Entertaining, thought-provoking, and well-written. Buy it.

As I read through "The Iguana Handbook", I was sorely disappointed, but not because the book was bad.In fact, the book was so detailed and accurate that it made me reconsider getting a baby iggy until I could house it in its adult form.Too many people get an iguana without thinking about what the future holds, and what needs to be done for one.I am happy to announce that this book will help to impart some of the knowledge necessary to make an iguana a happy and thriving member of your family.

Outdated info.
I have not read this book, and if it actually suggests feeding animal protein, (meat), to your Iguana I wouldn't bother. It was written in the early 90's when sound Iguana dietary needs were still being re formulated.
There's probably still allot of sound advice in the book, just weigh it with up to date information like Melissa Kaplan's Iguana's for dummies, or James Hatfield's Green Iguana The Ultimate Owner's Manual. Or check out the Green Iguana Society, on the net. It's free and there are hundreds of other Iguana keepers to talk to.

THIS BOOKS INFORMATION CAN HARM YOUR IGUANA!
I do not recomend this book to any iguana owner. This book is by far the worst iguana book I have seen yet. The nutrition section is out of date. It says to feed your iguana meat!?!, and commercial iguana foods! Iguanas are strict herbivores and with this information, it can cause kidney failure! Im only 13 and i know better than to listen to this book, I honestly think you should turn to Green iguana, the ultimate owners manual, by James W. Hatfield for better results.

Up-to-date and correct
This book is the most useful on the market for iguana owners both new and experienced. It presents information that is accurate, precise and complete. As a veterinarian board certified in nutrition and internalmedicine, who has published on the growth of iguanas and on dietary proteinand kidney function in mammals, I can vouch that the presentation ofprotein nutrition is up-to-date and correct (see Journal of Nutrition,1998, and elsewhere). I agree with de Vosjoli's recommendations on diet andfeeding. This book is a must read for all owners of the green iguana.

This manual is out of date; nutrition info is incorrect.
The Green Iguana Manual by Philippe De Vosjoli is often recommended by pet owners and veterinarians. However, the nutritional information is out of date. Animal protein in any amount is no longer recommended in iguana diets, including diets for juveniles. Following this manual for nutrition information could mean your iguana ends up with kidney and/or liver failure and a shortened lifespan. Please see the 1996 edition of Reptile Medicine and Surgery for iguana diet information.

This excellent book answered all my questions about the many "pets" on the loose in Florida.Not only does it describe what is happening, it provides tremendous closeup pictures and offers solutions for the problems associated with the onslaught.

I was most interested to learn how to deal with each individual invader since you never know when one is going to enter your backyard.

I hope our State officials read it to learn what they should be doing to help protect the citizens from the invasion.

Funny book!
Hurray for Tom and Dom! I really love reading this book aloud. Tom and Dom are such great characters I wish that Tony Johnston would write another Iguana brothers book. With illustrations by Mark Teague, of course.

not my favorite mark Teague
This book is charming with the old moral story of "it is best to be yourself". The art is great but since the story mostly involves 2 iguanas lazing around and talking, there really was not a chance for illustrator Mark Teague to apply his wonderful upbeat inventive artwork. But if you want grand fun, check out other books that are illustrated by the illustrator of this book. He even writes some of his books too. Try, "The Secret Shortcut", "The Lost and Found", a recent great book "One Halloween Night", "Pigsty" (great at convincing anyone they should have a clean room), "No Moon, No Milk", "What I Did On My Summer Vacation", and "The Baby Tamer". The best of all for over the top inventiveness is "The Flying Dragon Room".

A Funny Tale of Friendship

The Return of the Lone Iguana. Foxtrot, All Great!
I've been a Foxtrot reader for a long time and personally I think there is something suspiciously wrong with people who don't find Bill Amend's characters funny as all get out. If you want a good laugh, check out Bill in your local newspaper, or better yet, get one of the Foxtrot books. They are all great, really, they are.

Like many of Mr. Amend's fans I'm a bit disappointed he's switching his strip to Sunday-only, but fortunately I can still read him daily in the Foxtrot books. Get them one and all and you can keep right on a laughing.

Stick 'Em Up!
This is one of the best Foxtrot books I've ever read! Quincy is my favorite character. Anyway this book mainly revolves around Jason and "The Lone Igunana" in the first few pages of the book, but I won't give anyanymore details. Hope you enjoy reading it, I sure did!
