The association was established in 1954 to help agencies better serve the children of Kansas. Our current member agencies provide a range of services to families including: residential care ~ day treatment ~ emergency care ~ maternity services ~ foster care ~ visitation supervision ~ adoption ~ transitional independent living ~ family preservation ~ intake and assessment ~ mental health ~ drug and alcohol services ~ educational services ~ services to juvenile offenders ~ parenting education The alliance works with member agencies to coordinate activities and programming. During this past year the Alliance initiated an effort to provide training in child welfare skills and practice to child care workers and foster parents across the state. The Alliance has also worked with the agencies providing emergency care to develop a case management project which offers services to children referred to shelters and foster care by law enforcement. By working together the child welfare agencies of Kansas continue to provide high quality services to the children and families they serve.

Advisory Responsibilities By Executive Order 01-06 , Governor Bill Graves designated the Workforce Network of Kansas Board as the state workforce investment board. By design, the Board is an advisory body consisting of 35 members appointed by the Governor. WIA mandates the ideal state workforce investment board membership structure. Over fifty percent of the membership of the Board must come from private industry. The balance of the board members represent government, education, community based organizations and labor. The Board meets five times each year, rotating the location of their meetings between the five Local Workforce Investment Areas Much of the work of the Board is accomplished through task forces.
