The fee program, performed in a half-filled Sydney International Aquatic Center, counted for 65 percent of the total mark. It was added to Sunday's technical results.

The Executive Board decided not to admit fourteen (14) of these sports in the 2008 Olympic Games. Therefore, only four (4) sports – Golf, Karate, Rugby and Wushu – which is less than 25% of the total number of applications candidating, remain in the shortlist . Golf and Rugby as recommendations for inclusion (under certain conditions) and Karate and Wushu for further review . At the same time the IOC Programme Commission recommends the exclusion of three (3) sports from the 2008 Olympic Programme, namely Baseball, Modern Pentathlon and Softball. Although we have to congratulate ourselves for what without any doubt is a huge and historic step forward for karate in its Olympic goal, you must know that it is not going to be easy for our sport to be present in Beijing 2008. In any case now IOC is fully aware that karate deserves a place as Olympic sport and this should therefore make easier our way to the Olympics.

    Extractions: Tae Kwon Do uses a large number of hand positions for its hand strikes, but is primarily known for its vast catalog of different kicks, many of them aimed at the head (such high kicks are not very common in other styles of martial art). Thus, flexibility, balance, and leg strength are important, especially for spinning, jumping, or flying kicks. However, the development of these traits is part of Tae Kwon Do training and the beginning student is started off with much simpler kicks. Though throwing and takedowns are taught in some schools, traditional Tae Kwon Do uses virtually no grappling techniques and as its name suggests is very much centered around superior punching and kicking ability. As is to be expected of a striking style, Tae Kwon Do uses blocks as its pimary defensive technique. Upon liberation of Korea from the Japanese colonial rule after World War II, the Korean people began recovering the thought of self-reliance and the traditional folkloric games which resumed their popularity. Song Duk-Ki, afore-mentioned master of teakkyondo, presented a demonstration of the martial art before the first Republic of Korea President Syngman Rhee on the occasion of the latter's birth-day anniversary, thus clearly distinguishing Taekwondo from the Japanese Karate which had been introduced by the Japanese rulers. Martial art experts began opening their Taekwondo gymnasiums all over the country and after the end of Korean War (1950~1953) Taekwondo was popularized among the Dan-grade black-belters within the country, also dispatching about 2,000 Taekwondo masters to more than 100 countries for foreigners' training.

The first is June 24-28 (Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM), and the second is July 29 - August 2 (Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM). Your child may attend one or both camps, since each one will be different. I am very excited about my new Sports Camp. In the mornings we will do Karate, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing, and Self-Defense. After lunch I will bring in other instructors to teach basic skills in Olympic sports such as tennis, soccer, swimming, track, gymnastics, baseball, and golf. Plus, there will be great pool facilities and other games for the kids. This will be a "drop off" camp. I am not providing transportation, and there will not be a sleepover. Last year I let many kids come to camp at the last minute. This year Bur-Mil insists that each camp be limited to 75 kids. Therefore, the first 75 PAID will go. I must abide by Bur-Mil's rules, so I can't hold spots or make exceptions. I will have plenty of instructors and counselors for camp. Since it will be a unique type of experience, I expect spots to fill up fast. The cost is $160 for the first child, $120 for a second child, and $40 for a third child. Each child will receive an Olympic T-shirt and Gold Medal for participating.

Our junior football team left Yemen last Friday for Qatar to start a training camp. The team will participate in the Asian tournament for juniors held from August 21st to 25th. Yemen is in Al-Doha group which also includes Qatar, Bahrain, and Iran. The team started a local training camp on July 7th. However, the team is still not well prepared and has not participated in any preparatory matches.
