GEOGRAPHY The Republic of Uganda has a land area of 236,580 sq.kilometres, making it slightly smaller then the UK's 244,755 sq. kilometres (figures from the Times Atlas of the World.) 20% of the country is covered by inland water and swamps. It is a land-locked equatorial country in East Africa bordered by Sudan to the north, the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) to the west, Kenya to the east and Rwanda, Tanzania and Lake Victoria to the south. The climate is tropical, with temperatures moderated by the altitude of the country, varying between 15 and 30 degrees centigrade. [1] [2]
