The database is maintained by the AstroWeb Consortium , a collaboration involving 9 individuals at 7 institutions. In addition to classified lists of resource records, the Consortium also provides a utility to search the AstroWeb database: (WAIS search help) Most of the URLs in the database are tested three times a day to verify aliveness (see "AstroWeb Dead URLs" and "AstroWeb Unreliable URLs" ). The Consortium will be pleased to accept contributions of new resource records. You can use HTML forms to (1) submit an addition or change to the Astroweb database review pending submissions review Astroweb records changed in the past month or (4) send EMail to the Consortium . This NRAO version of AstroWeb is recomputed at about 10:05 UTC each day, if the master database has been changed. Neither the individuals involved in the AstroWeb Consortium, nor their affiliated institutions, accept any responsibility for the contents or availability of information located at other Internet sites. The AstroWeb master database currently contains 2859 distinct resource records: Observing resources Data Resources Publication-related Resources

Extractions: About the Advanced Astronomy List The Advanced Astronomy List (AAL) is a small, private mailing list intended to facilitate discussion of advanced topics in the practice of astrophotography (film and CCD), visual astronomy, and telescope making. Though there are other mailing lists and newsgroups in which those topics are discussed, AAL differs in several respects: Unlike special-purpose lists that deal only with one aspect of astronomy or one manufacturer's product, AAL fosters discussion of all major aspects of astronomy. This allows the cross-pollination of ideas that promotes advances and innovations, and it also recognizes that most practitioners do not limit themselves to just one thing, but have a variety of interests.

This document was written for list administrators people who wish to create and possibly control mailing lists. The program was originally written as an email text-based Unix application. However a user-friendly graphical World Wide Web interface was created to help make list administration easier. There are three kinds of lists that are supported: CSUN class lists (for students in a particular class, or for several sections of the same course). These list names end with "-C", as in "ENGL150-C". Departmental lists (for CSUN departments). These list names end with "-L", as in "FACSEN-L".
