Extractions: INDEX: Many of the United States provide some form of intermediate service centers to support educators who are working on state reform initiatives. In Illinois these are called Regional Offices of Education. In Michigan these are called Intermediate School Districts. In that case, ISDs have boundaries that overlap regular school districts and have their own taxing authority. In New York and Colorado these agencies are called BOCES which stands for Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Texas has 20 Education Service Center Regions. If you don't know how to access assistance from these agencies, click here to link to the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) which can connect you to the state board of education in your state. You should be able to find out there if such agencies are in your state. The only USA exception is Hawaii which has one school district for the entire state and so, the state provides the assistance directly.

Extractions: We are a community. That said, families of children with disabilities have been the mainstay of and community for Southern Maine Parent Awareness (SMPA) since 1980. Originating as an intimate support group for about a dozen parents, we have grown to making contact with more than 5,500 families of children with disabilities and their service providers. Twelve thousand children with disabilities reside in southern Maine. SMPA offers information, support, resources, and referrals to those 12,000 families and their service providers living in York and Cumberland counties. There are programs and services available to help address most of these challenges; however, few families know that they exist. Families need someone they can call who will help them identify and access services. They need to know that they are not alone. This is what we do best. We provide information, support, resources, and referrals to families of children with disabilities aged pre-birth through 21 years.

Project MEET will leverage the state's current investment in technology so that technology reinvigorates the teaching staff, motivates students, and produces real improvements in teaching and student learning. Project MEET will provide a statewide collaborative of nationally recognized organizations to create a sustained focus on technology professional development in multiple districts across the state. To achieve these goals, Project MEET will create widespread understanding of the potential of technology in the classroom, and foster technology integration to revitalize classroom practice.
