Extractions: RESEARCH EDUCATION SERVICE OET-HOME I have been a member of the UMCP faculty since 1968, coming here after two years on the faculty of the Department of Atmospheric Science at the University of Missouri at Columbia, and two years on the faculty of the Division of Science and Mathematics at Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. I am a member of the original six-faculty group in meteorology started by Professors Helmut E. Landsberg and Alan Faller in 1968 within the University's Institute for Fluid Dynamics and Applied Mathematics, which was split into the current Institute for Physical Science and Technology (IPST) and Department of Meteorology (METO) in 1976. I served one year as Chair of the Department of Meteorology, during which I managed the hiring of 3 new faculty (including a new Chair), increasing the faculty size from 6 to 9. I initiated a major Departmental grant with NASA/GSFC through which the first departmental computer connection to NASA was established. This collaborative program also established research support for five Departmental faculty, and numerous graduate and undergraduate students, and helped to hone a scientific program of collaboration which continues today. I served one year as Assistant Provost of the University's Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Engineering (MPSE), during which I produced the Division's first Affirmative Action Plan, and helped to establish an MPSE administrative plan in collaboration with Provost F. Kerr.
