Explore Missouri State Parks Pack a picnic lunch, some outdoor games, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, a hat, and your sunscreen and head out to one of Missouri's state parks. Missouri has some of the most beautiful and diverse state parks in the nation. They are also free (or very low cost for activities such as swimming) for your exploration adventures. For example, Lake of the Ozarks State Park at Lake of the Ozarks has a touring cave with a nominal admission fee. Bothwell Lodge State Park just north of Sedalia offers tours of the lodge for a nominal fee as well as a beautiful, easy hiking trail. Watkins Mill State Park at Excelsior Springs offers tours of an old woolen mill. Bennett Springs State Park located near Lebanon has a fish hatchery for touring. Ha Ha Tonka State Park near Camdenton has extensive hiking trails showcasing the diverse topography of Missouri. Knob Noster State Park also has some beautiful hiking trails as well as a park nature center to explore. Explore the mastodon bone and arrowhead collection in the scenic overlook facility at Truman Dam State Park at Warsaw. These are just a few parks. Many state parks offer low cost camping areas, free picnic areas, and swimming beaches.
