Inquiry approaches are currently being advocated by the National Science Education Standards, the National Science Teachers Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (Project 2061), most federal science education agencies, and many state departments of education. But what IS "inquiry approach" science education? How does it work? How do I incorporate it into my classroom? At the 1997 Explorations in Biomedicine Retreat, you can explore inquiry approaches hands-on and learn how this powerful pedagogy can motivate your students and enhance the teaching and learning in your classroom. The overall goals of the retreat are to provide middle and high school life science teachers and Tribal College life science faculty opportunities to: experience inquiry approaches in science education;

Extractions: Fu R Bea R e R s Unlimited incorporated 1988 "Habitat, Conservation & Education" October, 2001 Who We Are: Why Do We Need FurBearers Unlimited Since Prehistoric times, the use of wildlife has been important to mankind's survival. In the past century we have seen our world transformed through the marvels of science and technology. As a species we have radically altered how we live, our relationships with each other, and our personal and collective relationships with the natural environment. Our senses are flooded with mountains of information and things to keep the collective head of Western society spinning. Yet, mankind's use of wildlife continues, and necessarily so. As we hasten our development of science and technology we are quickly depleting the resources of our world. Conservation of our non-renewable resources is much talked about in today's society, but consumption of these resources continues to increase even as we agree it must be restrained.
