This person, who is of Grand Portage Ojibwe heritage, had lost touch with his ancestral origins. He found some relevant info on this site, about Grand Portage and other Minnesota Ojibwe tribes and history that helped him and his kids get in touch with their Indian roots. He saw the problems I'd been having since the fire with hardware to replace not covered by insurance. So this man donated a 32 meg SIMM!!!! (computer memory). T hat's a really helpful kind of giveaway, an Indian tradition. As an individual, I cannot receive any funding. So I support this site (and the book reviews site) as best I can personally. Usually the only real heavy expense is phone. But losing a lot of equipment and software that has to be replaced is very hard. Help like this is really appreciated. It is so unusual I hardly know what to say except migwetch in every language, of which "Pidamaya!" "Thank-you!", "Merci beaucoup!" and "Dankeshoen" exhausts my linguistic knowledge. I was very happy to learn that materials gathered here either created locally or linked-to can help people to learn about their lost tribal heritage, and to find tribal contacts. Often I wonder if it is really of any use to anybody.

Henry grew up in Coyote Canyon, New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation. He followed in the footsteps of his mother, Louise Henry, renowned for her excellence in both rug weaving and Sterling Silver jewelry design. Later, Henry's brother, Ernie, taught Ron to design and make traditional style jewelry. In 1975, the Henry family moved to Rochester, Minnesota to both make and market their art. Their sales outlet, Chi-Nah-Bah, gained world wide acclaim. There, Ron flourished as a craftsman and designer. He designed much of the jewelry sold from the family business. Henry moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1981. Although only twenty-one years of age, Ron began to operate independently. Extractions: Links Nothing so recalls the distant memories of native spiritualism as the soft, resonant tones of the Native American flute. These flutes have been made and played in the same way by native cultures for thousands of years. They were played by anyone who took the time and effort to make one. The flutes were as simple or as complex an instrument as the player wanted them to be. To hear a sound clip of one of my flutes, click on the sound button at left and this will download a wav. file. You can now own and play one of these unique flutes, which are not only wonderful musical instruments, but works of art as well.
