The CD-ROM combines technology, data and resources from UNL, JPL and several Earth-observing spacecraft. The consortium includes UNL, JPL and Johns Hopkins University. Included in the CD-ROM is a prototype of "Virtual America" called "Virtual Nebraska." Multispectral images are used to provide comprehensive information about selected cities, including vegetation indexes, census data, water boundaries, land use and agriculture. It is hoped other states will develop their own CD-ROMs, culminating in a complete "Virtual America."
