Extractions: Our inquiries identified 27 volunteer water quality monitoring programs that are sponsored or co-sponsored by Cooperative Extension in the United States and its territories. We have since updated the list to include a total of 31 programs and two contacts for soon-to-be programs in Ohio. These programs began as early as 1978 and up to the year 2002. They have volunteers monitoring a variety of aquatic habitats including rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, well, wetlands, and estuaries. The image above and to the right represents how Cooperative Extension is involved in volunteer water quality monitoring programs across the nation. The map fails to show the Extension co-sponsored program that exists in the American Samoa. We have listed the programs that are sponsored or co-sponsored by Cooperative Extension by state in the list below. In parentheses next to each coordinator's name is the year that the program began. Many programs have websites available, and we have created links to these sites for your convenience.

Extractions: Inter Agency Hazard Mitigation Team Report Recommendations DR-1199-NH Activity Description Lead/ Support Funding Sources Time Frame Comments Issue I. In storm damages areas, a continuing threat exists as ice drifts into many of New Hampshire's rivers and streams. There is potential for increased flooding that could damage roads, culverts and bridges due to the presence of excessive storm debris in these rivers and streams. Recom- mendation A. Setup a response team of state and federal officials to develop a plan that enables quick response to local needs as they arise. Supplement the available damage assessment and reconnaissance information as necessary and determine the areas of debris and potential debris accumulation risk. to the extent possible remove that debris prior to the spring "ice out." Evaluate the need to maintain the team for future response. NHOEM USDA Nat. Res., NG, DOT, COE, DES Recom- mendation B. As part of a local mitigation planning, map sites and sections of streams that historically have ice debris problems and prioritize those sites for future mitigation actions. Start at the top and work your way downyou should find the answer to your gardening question or problem. I don't try the larger databases until last because I have found that if I go directly to the sites they catalog, I always find other topics that aren't exactly what I was looking forbut are interesting just the same! If you are a southern gardener use Aggie Horticulture, FAIRS in Florida, or Missouri first then the WebGarden which catalogs several southern extension services. If you find any non-working sites, please write me at tlyockey@geocities.com I have also listed some sites at the bottom of this page that have factsheets that aren't searchable, but are available for downloading or reading. Note! Many of the publications are in Adobe Acrobat format. You will need an Acrobat reader to view and print them. You will also need to configure your WWW reader to use Acrobat as a helper application. Follow this link to obtain the free reader and for instructions on configuring your WWW software.
