This is really a great book.

Probably one of the best pictorial books on Naval Aviation.

This book covers the history of the US Navy from it's colonial beginnings throughthe Civil War and the world wars. As well as the cold war. Includes lots of beautiful full-page photos and paintings as well as maps showing troop movements. Very detailed and well written. ... Read more

Every Navy man should read this, especially veterans of WWII
One of the most entertaining and true to life experiences of the US Navy during WWII, even though some parts are semi-fictional - probably to protect the innocent.A must for a veteran of any branch of service toread.It is hard to put this book down once you pick it up.I amcurrently awaiting another copy which is on backorder ( a gift for mycousin, who is also a Navy man).Right now he is reading my copy, which hewill mail back to me when he finishes reading it. Probably the best bookI have ever read - normally I do not re-read a book, but this one I havebeen though many times, browsing through chapters which have entered mythoughts at the time. I first got the book as soon as it was publishedhaving heard about it on TV Station KUSK in Prescott, AZ.Brings back lotsof memories of my Navy days in WWII. ... Read more

PT boat
This book gives a colorful naration of the combat records of the
PT boats in WW II.However, I noticed that about 61 of the 100
photographs were published before, mostly from UNITED STATES PT BOATS OF WW II (1980) and AMERICAN PT BOATS IN WW II (1976, 1997). With hundreds of never published pictures still in the archives and museums, a little more effort in research by the author could contribute greatly to this subject since not too
many books have been written about this subject since the end
of WW II.

This is a very good book, however it could have been so much better.The photos or images of the patches are very small.It would have been a better effort had the publisher spent the money publishing in a larger format and added more pages so that the the images could have been published at their actual size. ...
