From the supplier: The creation of an effective, high-quality, fully automated media center can begin with implementation of simple, single task software and can advance as expertise and resources develop to include such sophisticated applications as an online circulation system, an online card catalog, and other integrated functions linked to a master database. Automation strategy should consider such factors as cost, vendor support, and staff expertise, and should include careful planning in order to achieve such benefits as better management of resources, better instruction, and better exposure to technology for school population. A pilot project on online circulation conducted by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is described.
