4-0 out of 5 stars great basic text for treatment planning
I found this book very helpful to brush up on my knowledge of Psychiatric Treatment Plans and in reveiwing Psychotropic medications.

5-0 out of 5 stars great quick reference
this is a nice little book with lots of information, I keep it in my clipboard @work and use it frequently as a refresher for topics I've long since forgotten.I would recommend this for anyone who wants basic information on psych issues.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent care plans
We really didn't use this book in Mental Health a whole lot. Plus I don't know how helpful it would be to someone who is a little more experienced and choosing to go into the field. It has decent care plans and is an excellent resource for psych drugs. Davis Drug Guide doesn't necessarily cover 100% of potential side effects in psych drugs. This goes into a little more depth. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I don't really know if it was worth the price for my level. I could have gotten a comparable care plan from a more general care plan book (like Taylor and Sparks), and I think the drug information may have turned up on a good Google search. If you have a really intense need to write incredibly involved care plans for your class, this might fit the bill. Otherwise just go and buy a good general care plan book used and save some money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad
I am a junior in my BSN program.I had my 13 week clinical rotation in Psych and enjoyed it quite a bit.I bought this book after my experience in class and clinical for future reference.I like the book a lot.Compared to other "clinical companions" like the ones Mosby puts out, this one is organized a bit differently.

In my opinion, I think that the headings and fonts used could be clearer.I just think that the layout of how things are organized could be clearer.I think also that there could have been more clinical manifestations when it comes to the different psychiatric disorders.Otherwise, good summary and I like it a lot.

4-0 out of 5 stars Quick Reference Book
I bought this book to have something I could carry to work. It's succinct and easy to use. I carry it in my purse when I'm working and I can usually find what I'm looking for if it's psychiatric and mental health. The appendix includes tools for mental status assessments, assigning nursing dx to client behaviors and Gaf scores. If you're looking for a quick, handy resource this book will fit the bill. ... This book came right on time before classes started and for the price I loved that it was brand new!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pharmacology Book
The book has been helpful for my class so far. It is easy to find topics in and pretty easy to read for those who do not know anything about pharmacology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pharmacology Study Guide
This book is helpful in pulling out smaller details of the book that are necessary to know for Pharmacology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for
My pharmacology professor required the textbook and study guide for his class - buying it as a bundle cut the price in half.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not enough

2-0 out of 5 stars Pointless book I needed for Med-Surg class
I just used this book for the CD, because doing the practice tests on the CD was a part of our grade. I really don't like the layout of this book, and I think I flipped through it twice. Never even read a page of it.

3-0 out of 5 stars good but not great
I like how this book was broken down into sections but most of the time the imformation was not indepth..this is a good review book for tests

5-0 out of 5 stars Straight A's in Medical-Surgical Nursing by Springhouse
Great book, easy to read and i love the nclex-test questions with rationals. It was worth buying and has helped me better understand and more importantly to me, pass the test.

3-0 out of 5 stars BOOK DEFICIT!!!
RECEIVED BOOK IN ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF TIME AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.HOWEVER,I WAS DISAPPOINTED, AS I FOUND THIS BOOK TO BE LACKING IN SPECIFIC DETAILS REGARDIND DISEASES,INTERVENTIONS AND RATIONALES.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lacks Everything Required to Get an A in Med Surge Nursing
I got straight A's in my first semester of nursing school and have every intention of getting them throughout my program. Should I garner an A in my Adult I (aka Med-Surge I) class, it will be no thanks to this book.

The very first problem: the accompanying CD-ROM does not work. It freezes up when trying to select NCLEX questions. It does this not only on my computer but on both of my husband's computers as well.

The second grievance -- and this is an enormous one -- it does not even *mention* Acid-Base Balance. This concept is the basis upon which we build much of our nursing practice and not easily learned. In fact, I was advised by senior students and current nurses to really have acid-base balance down before the beginning of this semester. This is my current undertaking.

The rest of the book is disorganized and could be written more concisely. I would return it if I hadn't bought last summer.

I have heard good things about the Saunders book so I will check it out next. Buyer beware! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Maternal & Child Nursing Care
I am very happy with my purchase. It came on time and was in the condition stated.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great deal
The book arrived safe & sound but the spine is a little rickety. The book appears pretty new. Well worth the $$$!

1-0 out of 5 stars Expensive... Not Worth the Money
I'm currently using this book in my 3rd semester of RN school and our whole class HATES it. The information is conflicting in multiple parts of this book which is frustrating and not very helpful during a test or while taking the NCLEX, I can imagine. I spoke with our instructors about this and they told us that different sections of the book are written by different people and sometimes things like that happen! Really?!? I think this book needs a big overhaul. It's very vague with some content and redundant with other content. I give this book a D-.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book!
Loved the way the Sections/Chapters were broken down.. definitely had major topics for Maternal nursing.. easy ready!

3-0 out of 5 stars Tedious authors went for book padding instead of word economy
When I saw this book for the first time, I thought to myself:"What can they possibly have to say that requires so many pages?"If this fell on my foot I would break a toe and if it fell on my cat it would kill him.

This is the required text for this semester (6 weeks Maternity & 6 weeks Pediatrics). When I saw the price I was outraged, but bought it for a considerably cheaper price via Amazon. (Thank God for that) The school bookstore and that major online bookstore charge way too much.

I'm impressed when authors can provide needed information in a format that follows Word Economy. So far I am 5 weeks into this semester and I haven't found a use for this monstrosity yet other than to copy/paste data analysis for my care plans.I thought I hated my Med/Surg book which consisted of two massive volumes, but at least they broke down the specific information in a somewhat more concise and easier to access manner:Etiology, NDx, nursing interventions and follow up, while not reaching toward excessive repetition, high verbosity and tremendous tediousness) I found myself flipping through the pages of this book and quickly lost my patience.

So what I have done this semester is rely on "Saunder's Comprehensive Review" and "Reviews & Rationales Comprehensive Review for NCLEX" to condense the needed information for me, and just gone along with the Powerpoints and information gathered in lecture and then from all that I made my own notes to study from.I don't have time to find buried information in a book 1900+ pages. So far it has worked out well and I'm just happy I passed my first two exams with great marks, higher than the class average.I know my classmates are equally as frustrated as I am, but I have no idea what they are doing to study with that book. Now, there is a market for everyone and some people will very much like the same concepts drilled into them at every turn of the page. This is the book for that.As for this future nurse, I can't wait to sell this thing and get some of my money back.

As for the whole transaction via Amazon.I couldn't be happier. It was smooth and simple, the book arrived quickly, excellently packaged and in great condition.I will definitely purchase from Amazon again. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars nursing issues
This book is easy to read, but quite honestly I purchased this because it was required of my school. I have not found it to be that useful, or interesting to make time to read the chapters through.A bit on the boring side.

4-0 out of 5 stars book/service review
The book was in acceptable condition when received. Although the book arrived on time, it was shipped late. Overall, happy with the book and the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars What Happened?
I did not receive this book!!!I contacted the seller by e-mail three times to check the shipping status and did not get a response.Thank you, Amazon, for not billing me!That would have been another headache to deal with.

3-0 out of 5 stars clinical nursing skills
I cannot review this produce as I have NEVER gotten it.

The book itself is good, that is why I ordered it,However, I am unsatisfied with the results of the purchase.I have not even received an answer and /or refund of why which was submited once before.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good...
This text tends to be more Basic, than Advanced.... The title is Basic to Advanced, perhaps it should be Basic up to Advanced. Having said that, if you are not a nurse or are a student nurse, it is a good skill book and the photos are helpful. A couple of suggestions might be: 1) depict an oxygen flowmeter that has a graduated scale with a ball as an indicator and how to read that instead of the obvious number. (Not all flowmeters are like this, in fact most you will come in contact with are the "ball in the column" variety) 2) Show how to position the plunger in a syringe to get an accurate reading for medication administration. Accuracy counts!

1-0 out of 5 stars Never received item

3-0 out of 5 stars Thifty Shopper
Can not complain too much as I saved a lot of money buying the book through dealer on Amazon. It was MORE used than I thought it would be with a lot of Orange highlighting on multiple pages. Everything else was expected as it was listed when I purchased. Shipping took 2 1/2 weeks which I didn't expect as I paid pretty good money for the shipping cost. Long story short though I saved money and use it every day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Core Curriculum of Oncology Nursing
This is a great book for reviewing for my certification test. The bad this is that I still haven't received my book from YOUR service! I had to order another copy from a different company to ensure that I would get the book in time to study. I am disappointed in the person I ordered the book from who didn't even have the respect to reply to me emails that I sent them asking about my purchase. I will not ever use your service again. Thanks

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BOOK for oncology nurses!
Although there are many complaints about this book because it is in outline form, it is the best oncology nursing book FILLED with great, very useful information. I bought the book to get me through my first year as a brand new nurse and to assist met in studying to become certified as an oncology nurse. The way the sections are broken down is very helpful. You are able to review one specific section at a time. Outlines, such as this allow the reader to focus on the most important FACTS in a very organized manner.
I am a brand new RN on an adult transplant/oncology floor. Many nurses before me have used this particular book and it came highly recommended to me. After only reading through the first chapter, I understand why this book was so highly recommended.
I GIVE IT a 10/10 and also HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars conflictions
This book is horrible, It states in chapter 3 pg 43 Edema is caused by body's ability to pass water and sodium to excrete has failed, which would be noticed for hypernatremia, but on pg 45 hyponatremia, the book basically says hyponatremia is the cause of edema. it says next paragraph on pg 46 that hypernatremia is results of dehydration, mentions nothing edema. i confirmed from google, hypernatremia is the cause of edema, limit salt intake and fluids, but the book says hypo and you limit fluids and sodium.
the instructors said there is lots of conflicts with this book, they are right.
It doesnt even mention Hyperkalemia tx kalexate causes stool to change color.
also, it mentions pancrease po but not mentioned you have to take with your food in Cystic fibrosis.
if your school uses this book, just know, they are setting you up to fail, you will notice your instructors using other sources if information, because Evolve sucks! i dont know anyone who passed nclex by using evolve text materials.

The only shipping option for this book was like 2-3 weeks! Way too long for the average college student who orders their books, like NOW... when we needed it 2 days ago. But, the book was in great (new) condition as promised.

This book saved me a lot of money buying at the bookstore and it is very great condition! The book was shipped very quickly!

  • The coverage of qualitative research has been carefully revised to highlight examples of high-quality qualitative research and to present both qualitative and quantitative approaches as equally valuable.

  • UNIQUE! Authoritative coverage provides students the opportunity to learn first-hand from the leaders in the field.
  • UNIQUE! Separate chapter on the cost-driven field of outcomes research helps nurses to demonstrate that what they do results in positive healthcare outcomes.

I ordered the books with a two day shipment; they took 12.
The books arrived in good shape, but that did not compensate for the loss of a grade point. Ii is anexcellent text on writing and reviewing research.

Nursing research is complicated at best. This book breaks it down and makes it easier to understand. Research has complicated language and structure and this book helps organize the flow of research.

I used this book for a graduate nursing research course and it was very helpful. I had access to read it online but I needed to flip through the book to get a better understanding of my assignments. The material was easy to understand. It was a life saver.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not bad!
Let's face it, learning the nuts and bolts of nursing research may not be the most exciting topic - conducting research is the fun part! But we have to learn the basics and this text does a great job. It is very readable and presents the info in a format that is more enjoyable then my undergrad text was (forget the name of that one).If you need to get this content - this is the text to use. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting
I purchased this book thinking it would be full of questions to practice for my upcoming exam, and although it had some decent information in it, just wasn't what I was looking for.If you haven't taken the review course in person and were going to study out of a book, this may be more suitable for you.I wouldn't re-purchase it knowing what I know now.

4-0 out of 5 stars Med Surg certification review study book
Easy to study from with body systems, legal and ethical issues covered chapter by chapter. Good pre-test at the end of the text.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent review book
Being a visual learner, this was a perfect review book for me.Pages have great layout, the material is logically organized, and words are used carefully. As a result, the whole review takes less than 400 pages, in a friendly format. At first, I was suspicious about unusual colors of print (green, magenta, etc.), but it turns out to be easy on my eyes, while still very legible. The only drawback to me was the pharmacology info-it is all piled up at the end of the book.It was probably based on exam's percentage of pharmacology questions, but still feels slightly artificial.Otherwise, great book, and reasonably priced, too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fundamentals of Nursing textbook review
I received the book sooner than anticipated, and when I did receive it, it looked brand-new. I would have thought it had just been taken out of a plastic wrapper and placed in the envelope for mailing. Thank you for having a "better than promised" product!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't be cheap--buy the new edition!
I thought my friend who is a year ahead of me in nursing school was doing me a favor when she offered to sell this textbook for next to nothing. I knew that a newer edition had been released, but I doubted that it really mattered which one I bought. Unfortunately, I quickly discovered that the differences between the sixth and seventh editions of Fundamentals of Nursing are SIGNIFICANT! My curriculum has very detailed reading assignments based on the seventh edition, and I was not able/willing to keep up with all of the changes through more than a couple of weeks. The new version has some added content, but it is actually (mercifully) almost three pounds lighter. The Mosby's Nursing Skills Videos are also a good investment--I like the review questions they contain--and these are hard to purchase separate from the new book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good overview of nursing skills
This book was required for a course, and I must say it is a very thorough overview of nursing procedures. I really like the-step-by step guides, such as the procedure for inserting an NG tube. The only drawback is that is insanely thick and heavy, like most nursing texts.
