Effortlessly Control Your Glycemic Index For the Rest of Your Life!

Has it always seemed fishy to you that the entire diet industry has vilified an entire category of food, namely carbohydrates, which have always been the basis of the food pyramid that we learned about in school? You are not alone. Many scientists and nutritionists decided to put this claim to the test and what was discovered may astound you. Not only are there good carbohydrates, but these are foods that your body should not live without.

We are becoming a people who are starving our bodies of the nutrients and wholesome foods that it needs while at the same time becoming a civilization that is overweight and nourished on empty calories and foods high in sugar.

Glycemic Index Foods are What Your Body Crave

1) Control Your Weight Without Even Thinking About It

Sugars and carbohydrates are the fuels that provide our bodies with the energy it needs. How efficiently our bodies process the “fuel” or food that we feed it is our metabolism or energy. This process of food turning into energy can become sluggish from the poor food choices we make.

In this guide, learn how to “rev” your metabolism back up and keep it purring like a pristine, high powered engine. This act alone will allow those unwanted pounds to shed right off!

2) Lower or Eliminate your Risk of Serious Diseases

As well as losing those extra pounds, following the guidelines of the Glycemic Index will make you much healthier overall. It’s one thing to look good and healthy, but when the inside matches the outside, then you are definitely on the right track.

In this guide, you will learn how following the Glycemic Index is so easy and satisfying and the health benefits are enormous! Diabetes, Heart Disease and High Cholesterol are all directly related to what and how much carbohydrates and sugars we are eating. Learn what to do to reduce or eliminate these threats.

Product Description
This report will show how the Glycemic Index is calculated and how to use it effectively as a guide to live healthier. It will show that following the Glycemic Index can be done very easily and that the benefits of following the Index are many. You will see how controlling the foods you eat based on the Glycemic Index will allow you to lose weight, reduce your risk of diabetes, and lower your cholesterol, just to name a few.

The Glycemic Index is linked directly to the sugars in foods and how they are absorbed. The Index measures carbohydrates, which are made up of simple or complex sugar molecules. The Glycemic Index then ranks the effects these foods have on our systems.

You will see that by understanding these effects and adhering to some simple guidelines, you will be able to recognize foods by the Glycemic Index and make better food choices. You will see that many carbohydrates are very beneficial to you and that you do not have to avoid all carbohydrates as many celebrated diets suggest. Carbohydrates are not the villains that they have been promoted to be!

This report will go into depth to explain how high and low blood sugar levels effect your health and your feelings of well being. You will understand the direct link between the Glycemic Index and controlling diabetes or even substantially reducing the risk of becoming diabetic.

Also included in this report is a handy table of many common foods and their Glycemic Index rating along with easy-to-follow recommendations to take full advantage of the best food choices.

Once you read this report and become familiar with what the Glycemic Index is and how beneficial it is for everyone who follows it, you will find that making the best choices will come naturally to you. You will be able to control your Glycemic Index with little effort on your part. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for everyone
This book is small and easy to read. However it is not for everyone. Personally I read books to gain as much knowledge about a subject as I possible can. There are some good points in here. However, I "personally" disagree with some of the advice given. On Pg 70 the author suggests "If ice cream is your weak spot choose low-fat,not low sugar versions. If you want to pig out now and again-it's much better to do it on jelly beans and hard candies rather than chocolate and potatoe chips." I understand that sugar gives energy but for low blood sugar folks and diabetics this isn't really good advice. I personally feel like I am going to pass out when I eat any of that stuff, but I a feel full and okay when I eat a piece of cheese, meat, some salad, or an egg. I have 2 other books in this series but I think I will be previewing any other books in this series in the library (it needs my support anyway) first before purchasing any more ... Read more

Product Description
When I walked out of the doctor’s office, it hit me like a whack upside the head …

I really don’t know what diabetes is. What causes it, what it affects, and just how the heck did I get it?

Being one who does not want to take medication, I quickly decided that I need to know what I was up against if I decided not to succumb to a lifetime regime of diabetic medication.
I truly did not know how diabetes affects a person. I had a vague idea, but it was not even close to what I learned over the next five months.

I was obsessed with research. Learning whatever I could from books, medical journals, Internet resources, and interviews with 70+ people living with diabetes.

I interviewed doctors, dentists, optometrist, podiatrist, natural health practitioners, chiropractors and alternative health advocates.

What I learned was, how devastating a disease diabetes really is. The complications or conditions that are caused by “diabetes” are many. Many conditions worsen quickly when diabetes is ignored and not controlled. Some conditions truly diminish your quality of life. Others are fatal.

You don’t just catch diabetes like you do a cold.

I had been warned that my blood sugar test numbers put me in the “pre-diabetic” category three years earlier. I was warned again, and again.

Being in love with my “snacks” I chose to ignore the warnings, thinking “if I just eat only 2 cookies at a time instead of 6, I’ll be ok”. Well it wasn’t just the cookies. It was my whole lifestyle that put me at risk.

So here’s what I decided to do…

With all my research learning about diabetes, what causes it, and what it affects, I also learned that the conditions can be “reversed”.

Now when I say reversed, I am talking about reversing a diabetic trend. If you reduce your increasing body weight to a much healthier weight; that is reversing a diabetic trend. If you reduce consistently high blood sugar counts and control it; that is a reversal of a diabetic condition.

So after learning of many different ways to “reverse” diabetes and the conditions it brings, I decided that my fear of those conditions was much greater than my fear of giving up chocolate chip cookies.

I started making a plan, a plan to get me out of those diabetes test numbers.

The plan consists of:

1. “The Inner Game”
2. Nutrition, balanced meals
3. Exercise, intentional physical movement
4. Supplements

I believe that this concept/formula, which I named “The BetesBuster Plan” is flexible if you stay with the core foundation of nutrition. You can alter the exercise part to fit your needs. The supplements are optional. Your inner game is important because you have to choose to make change.

Do you want health, or a slowly debilitating quality of life?

By taking action and following the step-by-step plan, you will see a change in energy levels, weight loss, better concentration/focus, and a sense of "feeling great" within a couple weeks.

Your blood sugar levels will get much better as you become less "insulin resistant".A common dilemma among overweight people and people either pre-diabetic, or with type 2 diabetes.

It is always your choice, ignore diabetes and endure ever increasing dire health conditions, or take control of your life and health by taking action with a healthy lifestyle plan.

Try The BetesBuster Plan.It worked for me and many others that have tried it.I know you can do it.Fight the "beast" called diabetes.Never, ever, give up! ... Read more

Product Description

The statistics are staggering. Thirteen million Americans have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes; another 5.2 million don't know that they have it. During the past thirty years the diabetes rate has tripled, and each year about 200,000 people die from complications of the disease. The Centers for Disease Control project that one out of every three children born in the year 2000 will develop the disease. But Type 2 diabetes is largely preventable. Find out how you can avoid becoming a statistic.

As a respected physician and pioneer in the field of complementary medicine, Dr. Robert C. Atkins recognized early on that diabetes and obesity are twin epidemics, and that the way to reverse both is to permanently change the way people eat. Yet much of the mainstream medical establishment continues to advocate the treatment of diabetes with insulin and other drugs, while recommending a diet high in carbohydrates including sugar which raises your blood sugar. What you'll learn from reading Atkins Diabetes Revolution is that rather than correcting your metabolism, such a diet can actually increase your risk of developing diabetes -- and heart disease.

The Atkins Blood Sugar Control Program (ABSCP) helps you identify the metabolic signposts that indicate trouble long before the onset of Type 2 diabetes so you can stop it in its tracks. If you already have the disease, the ABSCP offers you and your physician a strategy for weight management and blood-sugar control, while minimizing your exposure to drugs.

Atkins Diabetes Revolution presents a comprehensive lifestyle program, including diet, exercise, and nutrient supplementation. The book also contains meal plans, recipes, a fitness routine, and case studies. This groundbreaking book, a fitting tribute to Dr. Atkins, tackles one of the greatest health challenges you and your family may ever face.

Amazon.com Review
Two colleagues of the late Dr. Robert Atkins take on the obesity epidemic's deadly twin: type 2 diabetes. Dr. Mary Vernon and Jacqueline Eberstein, RN, adapt the carb-cutting, fat-allowing Atkins nutritional approach as a preemptive strike against this fast-growing killer. Diabetes--defined here as a condition in which glucose or blood sugar is above the normal range--is viewed as a preventable problem. "What we hope we have created in this book is a realistic and practical guide to wiping out type 2, one person at a time." Since obesity is the major risk factor for diabetes, they begin with the "fat lie" (i.e., the belief that fat causes obesity) to voice the Atkins mantra: low fat means high carbs and high carbs are broken down into sugar. With a convincing mix of essay/picture testimonials, clinical studies, quizzes, checklists, and menu planners and recipes, Vernon and Eberstein make the case for diet and lifestyle changes to alter the metabolism of those at risk for diabetes. They have done a yeoman's job of translating Atkins'smedical nutrition advice into a step-by-stepprogram. One can quibble about their missionary zeal or the omnipresent eggs in the breakfast sample menus. At times, the scientific data are overly detailed or hidden within a quiz. Thankfully, there is a spot-on summary of the book's paradigm-busting ideas in the appendix.-- Barbara Mackoff ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Diabetics BEWARE of Adkins
My book came quickly. It was in excellent used condition. I would buy from this seller again.

HOWEVER the Adkins Diabetics diet itself is still dangerous for people like me who are already Diabetic.
After 12 days on the plan I was in the Hospital's ER... The doctors there said diabetics should NEVER
let themselves go into Ketosis, it is dangerous. Since Adkins is all about Ketosis all I can say is
BEWARE! Don't get me wrong I have always thought the Adkins diet is the best, just NOT for diabetics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Atkins for Diabetics great program!
I have now been on the Atkins For Diabetics plan for almost a month. While my body has responded nicely, my husband's, who has been diabetic for much longer and whose liver seems overactive, has not. My sugar is dropping, his is not. So be sure you communicate with your doctor about changes you are making (just as the Atkins Program suggests) because you may need more carbs and not know it. But when I need to take my jeans off, now I don't even have to unsnap or unzip them, I've lost that much in three weeks!(I neither measured nor weighed, but I can tell I'm smaller.) Give it a try!

Also, as far as Amazon's role in my purchase, the estimate of how quickly I would receive my book was two weeks longer than it actually took, so if you are very close to the point of origin, you too might get yours in less time than you thought! My book was in pristine condition when it arrived. I have since made it mine, but it started out great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Atkins diabetes revolution
This was a very good and detailed book on what and how to do things
with having diabetes it does wonders

5-0 out of 5 stars Atkins Diabetic Revolution
We are so pleased with the information and layout of this material. It has been extremely beneficial since the day we recieved it.An absolute MUST HAVE for any diabetic who would like to live life healthy and medication free!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars An Improvement Over Traditional Low-Fat, High-Carb Diabetic Diet
I must give credit to Dr. Robert C. Atkins for popularizing an approach - carbohydrate restriction - that helps people with diabetes control their disease, and likely helps prevent type 2 diabetes in others.Vernon and Eberstein do a great job explaining his program.

I can best summarize this book by noting that it is the standard Atkins diet with a few modifications: 1) special supplements2) you add additional carbs to your diet more slowly3) the warning that diabetics may well end up with a lower acceptable lifetime carbohydrate intake level.

By way of review, the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution $5.99 is a very low-carb diet, particularly in the two-week induction phase."Very low-carb" means lots of meat, chicken, fish, eggs, limited cheese, and 2-3 cups daily of salad greens and low-carb veggies like onions, tomatoes, broccoli, and snow peas. After induction phase, you slowly add back carbs on a weekly basis until weight loss stalls, then you cut back on carbs.

As an adult medicine specialist, I have no expertise in pediatrics.I didn't read the two chapters related to children.

The authors present "complimentary medicine"in a favorable light.Unsuspecting readers need to know that much of complementary medicine is based on hearsay and anecdote, not science-based evidence. In that same vein, the two chapters on supplements for diabetes and heart disease recommend a cocktail of supplements that I'm not convinced are needed.I don't know a single endocrinologist or cardiologist prescribing these concoctions. Then again, I could be wrong.

Vernon and Eberstein provide two excellent chapters on exercise.

A month of meal plans and recipes are provided for 20, 40, and 60-gram carbohydrate levels.[The average American is eating 250-300 g of carbs daily.]The recipes look quick and easy, but I didn't prepare or taste any of them.

The 5-hour glucose and insulin tolerance test (GTT, paged 61) that Dr. Atkins reportedly ran on all patients who came to him is rarely done in other medical clinics. This doesn't mean it's wrong, but certainly out of the mainstream. The authors admit that at least a few people will have to count calories - specifically, limit total calories - if the basic program doesn't control diabetes, prediabetes, and the metabolic syndrome.Limiting portion size will speed weight loss, they write.

What we don't know with certainty is, will long-term Atkins aficionados miss out on the health benefits of higher consumption of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains?Much of the scientific literature suggests, "Yes."

What if we compare the long-term outlooks of a diabetic Atkins follower with a poorly controlled diabetic who's 80 pounds overweight and eating a standard American diet? The Atkins follower is quite likely to be healthierand live longer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Explanation Ever
I finally understand the relationship between carbohydrates and starch to my overall well-being. Dr. Thompson not only provides a layman's explanation of the glycemic index but gave me the tools to determine what foods to avoid or at least eat in moderation. i am not a diabetic but if I were, I would commit this book to memory.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous book!!!!!
For the first time I understand why I have problems keeping the weight off!! This book was a revelation to me. What I really appreciated was that Dr. Thompson writes in a way that I could understand. It is the only diet that I have been able to follow and it works!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Modern Atkins

10 years ago I lost 100lbs using Dr Atkin's low carb books and felt great. I then met and married my dear husband, moved to America, had children and several miscarriages, partook of the terribly sweet foods and excessive portion sizes until last Oct. I had gone to the doctor for a knee problem and discovered my BP was high. I was horrified, knowing I was overweight again by some 50lbs, and expected to have a heart attack immediately. That visit was a true blessing as it was the shock I needed to change my health again. I went back to Atkins, started riding my bike, mounted on an indoor trainer since we have snowy winters, 30mins 5 times a week. After 3 days once again I was feeling so much better, sleeping better, had more energy.I came to Amazon looking for any updated Atkins/low carb books and found Rob Thompson's book. I confess I got it from the library to read but then bought it for my Dad, who has type 2 diabetes and he thinks it great too! It is less severe than Atkins, which I believe makes it more doable long term. He explains things very easily and has really added modern findings since Atkins day as far as how foods affect your blood sugar levels. I have been on his way of eating etc for 3 months and lost 12lbs and several inches.I would encourage you to record your measurements rather than rely solely on your scales. My blood pressure is now normal and so are my cholestrol numbers.I would not hesitate to recommend this book and his others to you, even if you are not struggling with weight issues.

5-0 out of 5 stars A real eye opener and a big help
For years I've been concentrating on a low or NO sugar diet but that didn't stop me from eating bread, rolls, pasta and potatoes. Dr. Thompson's book has shed light on the importance of concentrating on a NO STARCH or low starch diet to control or prevent diabetes. I thought that would be impossible for me.But I found, that as the days went by on my diet,my cravings for starchy foods abated.NOW, after a few weeks, I don't miss bread at all.I lost 16 pounds.Of course I also follow a strict exercise plan.I do pushups and walk 40 minutes a day.Dr. Thompson's book offers good advice on coping with controlling blood glucose levels. My readings are normal. My doctor is pleased with my diet plan. And I find that I can eat fruit and even ice cream and still keep my sugar levels down.
This isn't rocket science.A lot of what's in this book has been known by doctors for years. But this book is surprisingly easy to read and understand. And it offers recipes to add a little variety to your diet. I highly recommend this book.It changed my life and I hope it helps others as well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works better than low carbs
By concentrating on the low GI foods the authors recommend, I've been able to keep my blood sugar stable between 80 and 120 all day and night.I'm full without feeling stuffed or sick, and I get to eat a wide range of low cost, perfectly normal foods. No more expensive snack bars or costly meat, meat, meat!

I tried low carbs and those plans didn't work for me.With low carbs, my blood sugar would tank before meals triggering horrible migrain symptoms.I don't get that any more and can just eat normally, without forcing myself to eat for fear of getting hungry and triggering a headache or the dreaded blue flashes.I really do feel so much better and my blood sugar testing clearly shows that my sugar is well controlled even after a high carb meal, provided I eat the carbs recommended in The Glucose Revolution.

I think you'll be suprised at how easy and satisfying these foods are.Normal foods.Normal eating schedule.Normal blood sugar levels.Gotta love it.This booklet is well, well worth the money.Don't hesitate to buy it. ... Read more
