Extractions: INDEX: Many of the United States provide some form of intermediate service centers to support educators who are working on state reform initiatives. In Illinois these are called Regional Offices of Education. In Michigan these are called Intermediate School Districts. In that case, ISDs have boundaries that overlap regular school districts and have their own taxing authority. In New York and Colorado these agencies are called BOCES which stands for Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Texas has 20 Education Service Center Regions. If you don't know how to access assistance from these agencies, click here to link to the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) which can connect you to the state board of education in your state. You should be able to find out there if such agencies are in your state. The only USA exception is Hawaii which has one school district for the entire state and so, the state provides the assistance directly.

May 1999 Press Release By Lindsey Kaufman Director of Student, staff, Community dev. Re Champions forChildren Selected as One of ohio's BEST Practices in education for 1999. http://www.pcchampions.org/pressrelease_may99.htm
Extractions: Education for 1999 Champions for Children has been selected as one of "Ohio's BEST Practices" in education for 1999. The local program is one of 46 education programs statewide to have earned the award and will be honored as the Fifth Annual Ohio's BEST Awards Gala in Columbus on September 14, 1999. The announcement was made this week by a group called Ohio's BEST, a coalition of more than 100 education, business and community organizations that have united in a major statewide campaign to improve education in Ohio. Launched in 1995, the Ohio's BEST Practices initiative identifies and promotes innovative education programs that have proven to be successful at improving education results in Ohio's schools. "I am proud of the Champions program and, particularly, the staff employed by Champions. Receiving recognition as a BEST practice is an achievement that could only be accomplished with everyone, parents, staff, the Port Clinton School District, and community partners working together for the good of our children and families," commented Lindsey Kaufman, Port Clinton City Schools Director of Students, Staff, and Community Development and project director for the Champions program. Champions for Children is an after school program designed and initiated three years ago by Port Clinton City Schools. Now operating three elementary sites and one junior high site, the combined Champions programs currently meet the needs of 100 children and youth between the hours of 2:30 and 6:00 p.m. Since inception, more that 175 children have taken advantage of a healthy snack, homework assistance, tutoring, recreation, socialization, wellness, and enrichment programs offered by Champions.

Continuous Improvement Plan by the ohio State Board of education including the in order to prepare for the ohioGraduation Test. specialists; Math Science Network Principals; staff dev. http://www.swcs.k12.oh.us/continuous_improvement_plan.htm
Extractions: Executive Summary The South-Western City School's Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) was reviewed by a district advisory team made up of representatives of the Board of Education, SWEA, OAPSE, SWAA, and program directors/coordinators. The purpose of this review team was to collect the data necessary to evaluate the goals, strategies, or lack thereof, toward achieving the performance indicators. Members of the review team were assigned to each of the tasks enumerated in the CIP based upon their interest and area of responsibility. The members of the review team determined that there was no need to change the overall goals and strategies of the CIP. Graduation, attendance, proficiency, and fiscal responsibility remain at the forefront of everything we do and continue to represent the focus of our efforts. A tremendous amount of data was collected to support the fact that we are making progress in achievement of our performance indicators in most areas. Changes were suggested in those areas where the data indicates we need to shift our focus slightly, develop new tasks because the previous ones had been achieved, or we need to refine our performance indicator to make it more measurable. The review team did suggest several revisions in the CIP tasks. These changes can be summarized thusly:
