But to prove the Pretty Committee is worthy of the honor, the girls need dates to Skye Hamilton's "famous couples" costume party. On top of all that, Massie has to convince her old crush, Chris Abeley, to be Skye's date . . . or else they can kiss the room-and their popularity-goodbye. Kristen Gregory: Loves supersensitive guys, and thanks to ESP, has her eye on a boy who loves The Notebook as much as she does. So why on earth is she going to Skye's party as the Bride of Chucky?
Alicia Rivera: Diss-missed her crush, Josh Hotz, for having a bizarrely clean room. Then ESP tells her Josh's sister is actually the neat freak, and suddenly hawt Hotz looks hawter than ever.
Dylan Marvil: When ESP clues her in to the fact that guys-plural- like a girl who's not afraid to eat, it's all mozzarella sticks for this former Jenny Craig groupie. Will gaining six pounds make her regret trusting her sixth sense?
Claire Lyons: As the only Pretty Committee girl with a real boyfriend, the date-mission should be a breeze. But when her newfound Claire-voyance tells her Cam's hiding a huh-yuge secret from her, his gifts of gummies leave a stale taste in her mouth. ESP? Extra Sucky Problem is more like it.

"Mean, Rich and Massie" by Zoe Streffer
The Clique
By Lisi Harrison
The Clique is an amazing book focusing on real-life drama and people. It has many of the problems that kids have in the 6th grade all the way through high school. This book shows how to solve your problems in that area.I definitely recommend it!
The Clique is a story about a new girl and her problems with the "In Crowd".She is living in the guest house of the richest girl at the school. She tries and tries to become friends with this girl, but whatever she does, it doesn't work. She finally has enough of Massie's, the rich and popular girl, snobby-ness and decides to hack into her AIM.She impersonates Massie and tells all of Massie's friends mean things, making it look like Massie said it all.
The Clique has a great moral about having equal respect for everyone.I love Lisi Harrison's style of writing and the humor and drama in her stories.Plus, the things she writes about definitely refer to things happening in my life right now.Even though she's a lot older than me, I feel like I can relate to her.
I think the genre of this book is realistic fiction. It could happen to anyone, which is why I think it's realistic fiction.Lisi Harrison actually wrote this book while she was working for MTV.She realized that so many of her colleagues did whatever they could to be "in".It reminded her of her 7th grade year, so she decided to write a book about it (only later did she decide to write an entire series).
Too Bratty
Massie is a plain jerk from the beginning trying to make Claire feel left out. I think it's too rude and naughty for anyone. leave this book on the dang shelf! horrifying and a disappointment.
Not bad, but nothing memorable
Popular and rich Massie is devastated when she learns that not only is her father's significantly less wealthy friend planning on staying in their guest house, but he also has a daughter Massie's age whom Massie is expected to befriend. When Claire appears wearing Keds and non-designer clothes, Massie is determined to shun Claire at every opportunity. Enlisting the help of her clique, Massie proceeds to mercilessly mock and torture Claire. Claire might be a nice girl, but she isn't about to go down without a fight. Mean girl cattiness ensues.
Targeted toward the middle school age bracket (though fine for high schoolers as well), The Clique is closer to the movie Mean Girls than the other "Lifestyles of the Rich and Cruel" type book series. Unlike books like Gossip Girl, The Clique characters don't engage in any risqué behaviors with sex, drugs, or alcohol. Instead, the focus of the book revolves almost exclusively around the interpersonal dramas of female friendships. Loyalty, taunting, embarrassment, secrets, backstabbing, friendship, and insecurity are all featured. The inner thoughts and feelings of the characters are not really explored, so there isn't any moral or psychological message about the motivations of the characters.
The book is straightforward and serviceable, but neither the plot nor the characters stand out in any way. The characters are all two-dimensional and resemble caricatures more than fully-formed characters. Still, they are familiar caricatures who most girls probably have some experience knowing or being, so it is easy to relate to the actions and feelings the characters experience. Though The Clique is now a lengthy series, the first book can easily be read as a stand-alone. Not bad, but not memorable.
First book...
Everyone says first books best... NOT true in this seiries. The first book is good but the other ones are better. In my honest opinion the get better every book in seires.
Depends on what you want your kids reading....be careful
My 10 year old tore through the first 4 books in this series (borrowed from friends) before I realized what was happening. I've never seen her read so fast in my life. While they are apparently quite entertaining to 5th graders, to me, they are trashy and mean spirited. Parents, just read them first and decide if this is what you want your daughter to be reading. I will not allow her to finish the series until she is much older.
