Extractions: A small group of us like to go out skating together most Sundays around the many paths and back streets of Brisbane and surrounding areas. If you are able to skate comfortably for about 2 hours and are confident with your braking abilities down hills, then you might like to join a few like minded skaters for a social roll. We generally go a bit further on Sundays and often tackle a few good hills if in the mood. Normally meeting a little before on the bike path @ Lower River Terrace (LRT), South Brisbane. Some weekends we may go for a skate somewhere else, where we drive, or catch a train to and meet somewhere else, like the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast or outer suburb to start the skate on some of the wonderful paths that have been laid.

My dream is to do a two+ year "road trip" in all the best-rated locations for mountain biking in the western states, Canada (summer), and Mexico (winter); hoping to find someone who is an avid mountain biker who may want to go along for all or part of this tripplanned to include small RV and possibly some tent camping. Prefer female, 35-55, healthy, fit, easy-going, good-rider, and with some time available to share all or part of this adventure. Road mate first, romance a possibility. Extractions: Page 09, In-line bladers roll legally at UI News Story by Karen C. McDonald, 04/09/97 University students no longer have to search for a place to legally roller-blade on campus. On March 31, the Division of Campus Recreation opened an outdoor in-line skating pad located in Champaign on Oak Street between Stadium Drive and Kirby Avenue. The facility is across from Hopkins Hall. The pad opened because there was student interest in a new recreational facility, Chantel Brennan, a pad supervisor said. The pad is the newest in-line skating facility to roll into town. Brennan expects more skaters for the pad since the Ice Arena has closed for renovations until the fall. The pad is only part of the new multi-purpose complex. There are also three sand volleyball courts and lighted fields for soccer, flag football or softball. Although the majority of skaters have been University students, the facility is open to the general public also. Both recreational roller blading and in-line hockey can be played at the facility. Until participation levels call for a more structured schedule of recreational activities, the skaters will determine the type of activity on the pad during drop-in hours, Bagger said. The drop-in hours are Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. until dark and Saturday and Sunday from noon until dark.

Extractions: Dimensions Editor Roller hockey, in-line fitness skating, speed skating and good old recreational skating have all become a part of some people's everyday lifestyles. For some it is even a form of transportation. So, what some may say is a fad, is actually here to stay. Opportunities to in-line skate are arising everywhere, from transportation to recreational use. One of these opportunities happens to be available at Chico State University. The new Roller Blading class met for the first time Friday where neither students nor teacher had any idea what to expect. Being a novice herself, Roller Blading teacher Gail Lipton asked that her students let her know what they want to get out of the class. "You guys are the pioneers as far as what we're going to do with the class," she said to the 30 enrolled students. And although the class met at the tennis courts Friday, Lipton is hoping the students have flexible schedules so they can meet at other places such as a bike path in Paradise.
