As the spring sports season begins its transition from conference championship to NCAA championship phase in the next few weeks Carolina's excellence has become abundantly clear once again. On Saturday, the Tar Heels' women's outdoor track and field team won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship, giving UNC four league titles this school year. Row New York has launched this pilot project in conjunction with the YMCA of Greater New York, New York City's Department of Parks and Recreation and NYC2012. Row New York founder Kraus said: "I was inspired to found Row New York after working with a similar program in Boston that greatly enhanced the lives of its participants. Rowing taught them responsibility and commitment to a team, and it gave them strength and confidence as they took on greater challenges in their lives. I am thrilled to bring this same opportunity to the young girls of Flushing, and ultimately, New York City." Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe said, "We are happy that young women will be able to learn to row on Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
