Extractions: Purchasing Your RV By Cris McHenka By now you know I travel the country by motorhome. This form of travel has been an adventure for me and my family, and has given us a great deal of pleasure. However, the motorhome as an industry, and our RV in particular, is suspect in several ways. I would like to take the time to go over some of these problems with you. Many people young and old dream of traveling around the country. Carefree, a person can watch the sun come up over the Great Smokies, and traveling west, watch it rest in the foothills of the Great Rocky Mountains in Oklahoma. The miles in between are a feast for the eyes and the mind. Depending on which motorhome or trailer you are traveling with, you might get there on the same day, or maybe the same year. Maybe maybe not. What most people do not know is that the RV industry is not regulated in the same way as the auto industry. If GMC rates an engine at a particular capacity, you can be sure it can run up to that limit. Not so with an RV. Many owners of RVs have read the capacity labels on their units and loaded their units accordingly, only to find out (usually after a break-down) that the axle that is rated at such-and-such a rate is not even on the trailer. In addition, many of the most expensive motorhomes made are also some of the most poorly made. One maker of just such a motorhome sells their units in the mid-$100,000 range. The units leak so badly that within the first year the damage to carpet, walls, and ceilings is more than just an eyesore it is a fire hazard. Most of the wiring for a motorhome runs through the ceiling, and once it becomes wet it can be dangerous.

We know what it is like to move around a motorhome when you pull up on the wrong side of the fuel station. Side Mounted Radiator - Provides minimal power drawn from the engine (the fan is not driven directly from the engine). It also provides maximum cooling efficiency as the air is much cleaner on the side than in the rear of your RV (just look at the back of the coach after a long trip). Finally, it allows ease of access to engine compartment area. A rear mount radiator can make access to the belts, dip stick and other service points less convenient as the radiator sits right behind the engine; in essence, it blocks your access. The side mount radiator totally opens up the rear engine compartment for ease of service and maintenance. Exhaust Brake
LPG Cylinder - Types And Safety are approved by the Land Transport safety Authority (LTSA). and thus increases theenjoyment of your motorhome. Lex Ward (12673) Wards rv ACCESSORIES Wards http://www.wards.co.nz/lpgcyltypes.htm
Extractions: The most common body is the Department of Labour, Explosives and Dangerous Goods Division. This Department controls the approval and operation of all domestic and commercial gas cylinders within New Zealand. This includes all LPG cylinders other than those used as Automotive Fuel Cylinders, i.e. to store fuel to power a vehicle, which are approved by the Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA). All LPG cylinders used to supply LPG Vapour must be approved by the Department of Labour and if manufactured after 1980 must also have a LAB No stamped on the cylinder that shows this approval. If a filling station is unable to identify the approval for a cylinder, it is not permitted to fill the cylinder. Like wise if the cylinder has not been retested within the last 10 years it is not permitted to fill the cylinder. You will in either case be referred to a Gas Cylinder Test Station.

Experienced automobile drivers already have the necessary skills. Motorized RVs typically come equipped with automatic transmissions, power brakes and power steering. With proper attention to the differences in vehicle size, height and weight, youll find it fun and easy to take the wheel. Towing skills are also readily acquired for the various types of towable RVs. You dont need a commercial drivers licence to run an RV for personal use, but units with air brakes do require a short course.
