Good deal, albiet an outdated version
Great price, good quality.I didn't read close enough to realize that this version of the book was published in 2002 which makes it a bit outdated.However it's a good book, very educational and it was in good shape for the price I paid.Shipping was a little slow, but not terrible. ... Read more

Great overall book
Ohio Real Estate Law by Irvin and Irvin is a great overall book for learning more about the laws and rights of real property ownership. This is a beneficial book to read for the paralegal as well as the individual just looking to learn more about property rights and Ohio law. It is an easy reading book that includes actual cases to help the reader understand an issue from more than one perspective. I recommend reading this book to anyone purchasing, renting, or living on real property. This includes you.

need to use this edition which is completely updated
The only reason I am filing this review is that I want to correct a comment that is on this page (page reviewing the 8th edition of the book).An old review of the book has been placed on this page erroneously.It refers to the book's being out of date.It is referring to a much earlier edition of the book and was reviewing that edition of it.The book on this page is the latest edition, the 8th, published in August of 2004.I just used it myself this fall term of 2004, and will be teaching from it again this winter semester of 2005.It is completely updated.You will discover that if you buy earlier editions, also for sale on amazon, that they are out of date.I insist that my students use the 8th edition and made them return earlier ones. An out-of-date text is of little use in our classroom.

The text does a superb job of covering real estate law essentials in Ohio, however, there due to recent (1996) legislation, two of the largest and most important chapters are out of date and must be re-written!!! Good text book
I have taught from this book and consider it among the better Virginia Real Estate textbooks.While a lawyer could explain it: so can any licensed instructor for Virginia.It is getting a bit dated because of recent legislative changes.

A lawer could tell you what the book is saying
Okay, I have a high lvl of reading which requires no college classes but I am definiely not a law school student either. Reading the first chapter I felt like I didn't understand anything because I didn't, no matter how many times I read it. Don't take this class on the internet .... just a warning. American Landlord Law (Paperback)
Appears to be comprehensive and knowledgeable but only a very small portion of it was of interest to me. I am attempting to rent an up-scale house for $3700/month.

Covers all 50 states and DC!
Excellent landlord tenant law resource for those with rentals.Without getting too saturated in boring legal rhetoric, this book breaks down everything you need to understand about the most important aspects of being a landlord/property manager.

The best part is that each primary area of landlord rights and responsibilities is so easily digested for every state and it is so easy to read. You have to see inside it to appreciate the look. Oh, and it comes with a CD that installs on your desktop!

AMERICAN LANDLORD LAW
This book hits the mark.It give me the information I need for managing my 20+ properties.It has given me great advice on security deposits, move-in and move-out procedures, best of all ways I can keep from getting sued.I am a broker and have my own property management company and this book is very helpful. There is only one other book that helps more and it cost a great deal more($100), it is directed for the laws of the state of Georgia.

Appreciative Landlord
I just got this book two days ago and have read through it completely.This book is very informative, very well organized and has excellent reference charts in each chapter for quick and convenient review.Chapter 15 contains a helpful"...collection of individual state summaries from every chart referenced in the earlier chapters..." of the book.The helpful appendices at the back of the book provide detailed information regarding various environmental hazards that may require landlord disclosure, the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and Fair Housing information.I plan on keeping this book close to my desktop for quick reference regarding landlord/tenant issues that come up.I recommend this to both new and experienced landlords.I have not yet had a chance to examine the accompanying CD, but, look forward to doing that next... ...
