5-0 out of 5 stars chameleon book
I received the book in a timely manner and it's a nice book filled with good information.
I am happy with the product, and it was a quick delivery.
Thanks

1-0 out of 5 stars Doo doo
This book is DOO DOO!I bought it hoping it would tell me how to take care of my newly purchased chameleon and maybe tips on breeding. All it talks about is how they live in the wilderness.LIKE I CARE?!?!

3-0 out of 5 stars my thoughts
i think that it covered too many species in such a small book it wasnt detailed enough on each species.it would be much better if it had more categories for sections of particular species e.g. feeding your veiled chameleon etc

3-0 out of 5 stars The word here is "BROAD".
To start, this book seemed to be filled with a lot of information at first. Then after a while, I realized that it contained nothing useful to me, because I was looking for very detailed and specific information on Vieled Chameleons and this book only had a broad overview on the physical characteristics, and the care section was 5 pages long. Not a bad book for a overview. Not a good book for details.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand
It was exactly what it said it was.A quick read for caring for Fire-Bellied toads. It could have been a little more thorough but all in all I was please with it.It will help my 12 year old help me care for these creatures.

2-0 out of 5 stars Easy to read, too basic
I had gotten it into my head that I wanted to keep these adorable fire-bellied toads they sell at pet stores. The book helped a lot with diet and how to house them, but it didn't go into possible health issues, and I decided against keeping the toads because I wasn't sure what I was headed for in the lifespan/health department. I could not find other books on these pets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quick and easy guide
I purchased this book BEFORE buying my Fire-bellied toads.Everything you need to know before you bring home the cute little toads.

5-0 out of 5 stars A solid text, and a lot of value for the price
It's hard to find a book that gives solid information on these popular serpents. As pets, the garter and ribbon snakes are very common in Europe, a little less-so here in America, but they are still widely kept. The only other texts I know of that deal with these snakes are either outdated or terribly off-target (i.e., they spend more time discussing broad snake-related matters and less time dealing with ribbon & garter snake specifics).Dick Bartlett writes a good book on these snakes, but Philip Purser's is far superior, in my opinion.I've kept these snakes (various species) off and on through the years, and this book answers so many of the questions/issues that arose during my snake-keeping exploits.I wish it existed years ago.Definitely a soild investment for anyone interested in knowing more about these demure little serpents and their care in captivity. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Lacks a lot
This book lacks a lot of important information but it is pretty old. I like Hermit Crabs for Dummies much better. The book does have some good info too. Pretty thin book, fast read. It is worthy of purchase but not the only book you should have on hermit crab care.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of detailed information
This little booklet (about 32 pages) gives you basic information on scientific names, anatomy, size, how long they live, habits, selecting land hermit crabs, designing enclosures, shells, water, food, molting, handling, breeding, diseases and other types of common land crabs.

I've had myhermit carbs for over a year, and after reading some information online, Irealized that they require much more care than I have been giving them. It's amazing how much I didn't know about them before reading this book.

If you have hermit crabs, I suggest you research a bit online or throughbooks like this one. If you were to buy any other type of pet, you wouldget information of the living conditions they need to survive; so learnmore about your hermit crab. The more you know, the better.

This book was for my boyfriend and all I know is he loves it.I do know the shipping time was fast and received in a couple of days from placing the order.

5-0 out of 5 stars You Must own this Book to Own a Rhac!
This Book is a must have for anyone who is thinking of owning a Rhac species. It has eveything you will ever need to raise your animals. I got this book just before my month old Gargoyle gecko came. I read it in 1 day. I t has every type of Rhac and even if you are only interested in owning one species it is facsinating to read about all the others. It has great sections in care, housing, handleing, and everythign else! I recommend to everyone. It is worth the money many times over! Buy It you Won't be dispointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Called the "Rhac Bible" for good reason
This book is fantastic if you need the basics to advanced details on the Rhacodactylus family; written to be understood by even young hobbyists without being childish for the adults. Though it already needs to updated on the morphs of Crested Geckos at the very least. Rhacs have already at least matched the Leopard Gecko in popularity and diversity through captive breeding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Interesting and great knowledge...
This book is a description in very specific details of the rhacodactylus family. I find it very important to know where these animals come from, how to maintain them in the most naturalistic way possible, etc. This book is a must need for Rhacodactylus keepers!

5 big thumbs up!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good basic information on garter snake care
A book on the captive care of garter snakes for beginners has been badly needed for quite some time, and this excellent little book fills that need very nicely indeed. While it does not provide the level of information that serious garter snake hobbyists would like, and could be more precise in terms of diet and the unique requirements of some species, that sort of detail would be inappropriate in a beginner's guide like this one. It sets out the basic requirements (feeding, caging, health) that any snake keeper just starting out is going to need to know. I breed garter snakes myself and am very happy that I can now refer my customers, particularly the younger ones, to a book that answers so many of their questions.

It is a must have for the Iguana keeper. So many books today have outdated, and downright dangerous, information in them. This book is NOT one of these. 5-0 out of 5 stars Amphibians:Their Care and Keeping
The word amphibian comes from the Greek words meaning two lives.Amphibians are animals that, with only a few exceptions, spend part of their life in water, and part on land.Scientists so far have identified more than 4,500 species of amphibians.Frogs are probably the best-known amphibians.

Steve Grenard's latest book, Amphibians:Their Care and Keeping, is an essential reference for anyone interested in these fascinating creatures.Grenard is a herpetologist with more than thirty years experience with amphibians.

He starts with the evolutionary history of amphibians, a story that "began some 350 million years ago during the Devonian period."Today, they're the "most numerous of all living vertebrates, [and] have adapted to virtually every climatic and geographic locale, save for full-strength sea-water."

Grenard then describes the biology of amphibians, explaining how they eat, sleep, and reproduce. He also explains how they defend themselves against predators. He devotes one chapter to taxonomy, listing the three orders of amphibians:limbless (cecillians); tailed (salamanders and newts); and tailless (frogs and toads).

The second section of the book describes how to care for captive amphibians. He starts with how to chose the best animal and where you can find healthy specimens. He then provides information on how to provide the best home for your pet.He says that "amphibians are primarily for display, study and exhibit purposes--they should not be handled any more than is absolutely necessary."He describes the procedures to follow when handling is required, such as when cleaning the cage.

Most amphibians eat live foods.Grenard explains food preferences and offers tips on obtaining the correct foods. He also describes good health care, both to prevent a diseased pet, and the transmission of disease from animal to human.

He finishes with a discussion of conservation and legal protection. Some amphibians are already extinct, and others are endangered.Grenard also incudes listings of resources in the appendices, including national and international societies, finding a knowledgeable veterinarian, and habitat and equipment suppliers.

Amphibians: Their Care and Keeping is a must-have book for anyone contemplating sharing their home with these creatures.

Sandra I. Smith Reviewer

4-0 out of 5 stars one of the best I've seen, and I've seen a lot
amphibian-care books, especially newt and salamander books, tend to be vague and unhelpful, telling me little I didn't know. This book, however, is what I've been looking for, especially to recommend to new newt ownerswho complain that they haven't been able to find a helpful book in thisadmittedly sparse field.
