5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
This book is full of the info on the animals and reptiles I was looking for. Would recommend it for anyone who is interested in watching wildlife.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reader's Digest N. Am. Wildlife
I really like this book. I am a nature lover, enjoying nature walks, gardening, my fish pond, and bird watching at all my feeders. I have a lot of individual books on specific studies--birds, nests and eggs, trees, flowers, etc., but I enjoy this book because there is so much information on ALL forms of nature life, both plant and animal, all under one cover. I ordered two books so I could give one to a friend. One was ordered from seashellbooks, which I received within two weeks. The other was ordered from keen_northwest at the same time. I would suggest you do not order from them, as I still have not received my book from them.Today is March 4th, and I ordered the books on January 31st. I was not able to tag this below, but would definitely RECOMMEND.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Beginner's Guide to Wildlife in North America
I bought this for a young girl who is interested in wildlife. I loved the detailed illustrations and the information included. I would not suggest this book for an adult, but it was a big hit with the recipient.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Good Field Guide

5-0 out of 5 stars Wildlife of the pacific Northwest
Beautiful tool to have around if you have been enjoying the great outdoors for years and would like to learn more about it. Very well written, organized and with fantastic pictures. I only wish it would be lighter so that I could carry it around in my backpack. I feel more inspired about looking into the secrets of wildlife more than ever before.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for wildlife trackers and all those who spend time outdoors
This field guide instantly become my favorite tracking guide. David Moskowitz has a masterful way of teaching wildlife tracking and animal behavior that makes this guide very user friendly for beginners and expert trackers alike. I recommend this book to anyone who spends time in the outdoors and has interest in animal behavior and/or wildlife tracking.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Top-Notch, In-depth, and Beautifully Designed Field Guide
Wildlife of the Pacific Northwest is much more than a traditional field reference guide - it gives regional context, takes nothing for granted, and is jam-packed with the author's crisp, color photographs.

The mammal section is most in-depth, but there is ample coverage of birds, some inverts, as well as reptiles and amphibians.

Dave Moskowitz is a very knowledgeable, articulate, and experienced wildlife educator and tracker. If you spend any time in the outdoors in the Pacific Northwest, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of this indispensable text.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have, superb regional guide.
Having been involved in field herping for more than 30 years, I have gone through my share of field guides. Amphibians and Reptiles of Delmarva is one of those that I read over and over again. Comprehensive text and outstanding photography make this guide an excellent resource for those who wish to study reptiles and amphibians of the area or for those that just want to be aware of what is living in their backyards.Personal observations by the authors and several of their -more than qualified- associates are depicted within the text. These observations along with expert identification and habitat descriptions are also valuable to those who do not live on the DelMarva Peninsula and those who live in states that share similar herpteofauna.
Truly a must have!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed...
I was looking for a guide to reptiles in my area, and this book was recommended by at least two local experts as THE guide to have. They were right...easy to ID the snakes and frogs we find.

5-0 out of 5 stars A high -class regional guide
Most regional field guides that I've come across are poorly produced, minimally illustrated, and not all that helpful. Not so here. The writing is lucid, the section of color photos is well-reproduced and the text is arranged in an easily accessible manner.

Would that they were all so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars top marks for the new R and A field guide
Review of Amphibians and Reptiles of Delmarva
By Amy Wendt White and James F. White Jr.

This is the first field guide that I have read from cover to cover - a recommendation in itself. The descriptions of the habitats of Delmarva, the history of herpetology on the Peninsula, and the basics of observing and identifying local amphibians and reptile were all well written and useful.I would have liked a scale (like the ubiquitous quarter or rock hammer) in some of the photographs, but the photos themselves were visually stunning, and with the written descriptions, quite complete. I fully intend to use this field guide often, as a reference for teaching and as a help for identification when I am in the field.

5-0 out of 5 stars extremely satisfied!
i purchased this book for my grandson - was very happy w/this as it was exactly as described - just like new!
shipping was prompt and it was packaged well. would buy from this seller again!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great photos and great for kids
My 7 year old LOVES this book! The photos are great (better than illustrations) and I can read all the details to him.Every little boy should have this set of books!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great! But some details are off.. ..
First off I'd just like to say that this book is great for getting your foot into Herpetology. It quickly gets you acquainted with all the different types of reptiles and amphibians and what makes a reptile a reptile and what makes an amphibian an amphibian. The pictures are great and the book as a whole is very well put together.

My only thing is that the length measurements are off. They list the chinese box turtle (cuora flavomarginata) as only reaching 4-4.5" long.Which is wrong and anyone that is into turtles knows that they can get up to 7 inches. And the African Spur Thighed Tortoise aka. Sulcatta is listed as only reaching 12-15".They can EASILY reach 30" long and the largest on record is 41.6".

I never leave reviews, but I just wanted to share this because it makes me question the integrity of the other information as well.

I love the book though and it is a great reference guide!

5-0 out of 5 stars a useful book
I've the same book but a french one, it is the most useful book a reptiles' lover must have. It is simple to read, to understand. There's a good introduction to reptiles classifications (which is not obvious for begginers), the "identity card" for each animal is well conceived.
A good book to bring for travelling.

5-0 out of 5 stars One great book.
Like all the books in this series "Reptiles and Amphibians" gives a species by species look at a huge variety of creatures. From Chameleons to Cobras this book has a great selection. There are not many field guides out there with such fantastic and detailed photos so I suggest it for anyone who loves the to some "unlovable" slimy or scaly creatures of our world. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A FABULOUS book in a FABULOUS series
I adore this FABULOUSseries of very informative books on Florida's natural world and Florida's Fabulous Reptiles and Amphibians is one of my favorites.I hope to collect them all eventually but for the time being I am immensely enjoying my Reptiles, Butterflies, Insects, Land Birds and Waterbirds.

Florida's Fabulous Reptiles and Amphibians is listed on Amazon's product page as a children's book but adults should not be put off by that description because these books are for adults and older children alike.

I love Florida's Fabulous Reptiles and Amphibians for the lizards alone!I'm very fond of these wonderful creatures that grace my property in such great numbers and varieties, especially the Anoles.I'm so glad for the extensive education about them that this book provides me as well as for the hours of entertainment.

These books are absolutely beautiful! The pages are high quality glossy and while the books themselves are too large to be practical as field guides, they do provide everything, and I do mean everything, one could possibly wish to know about each subject.Every page is loaded with stunning full color photographs as well as many interesting side notes and curious tidbits of information. One can spend many hours exploring the contents of these truly fabulous books.

Florida's Fabulous Reptiles and Amphibians includes alligator, crocodile, poisonous snakes, non-poisonous snakes, frogs and toads, salamanders, lizards, fresh water turtles, land turtles and sea turtles.Every Floridian can appreciate this marvelous guide to our favorite reptiles!

I highly recommend this and the entire Fabulous Florida nature series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Book
I would like to say that I am extremely happy with this book. The pictures are huge and are printed on extremely high quality glossy paper.I would recommend this book to everyone that lives in Florida or is considering moving here.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly informative, and "fabulous" photos
My kids and I went on a kick of reading reptile books at a difficulty level similar to this one. After a week of going through various titles, I was surprised to learn more about alligators from the short section in this book than I had learned from all the previous stuff we had read together!Ditto for cottonmouths, and other reptiles.

The photographs are superb, and there are enough pictures of each species to give a true feel for what it looks like instead of a single profile view of each.

5-0 out of 5 stars the perfect resource for your children
we LIVE in central florida and my nature loving kids are constantly bringing home wildlife. the vivid accurate photos in this book allow them to ID their living treasures with confidence. (then they get additional info from the internet). the book is also full of useful info, and conservation topics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have for FL relos
This book was given to me when I relocated to Florida, and I have thanked my benefactor many times over. Living in Florida means living with and respecting the wild critters, who are part of the beauty of this wonderful state. The colorful photos make it easy to identify the animals who slither through my new world and give me valuable information about which ones I should admire from afar. ... Read more

Product Description
Frogs and snakes are not cuddly like pandas and not magnificent like tigers. Many people think they are ugly and boring. But they, and other reptiles and amphibians, are just as surely disappearing from the face of the earth. Why? A host of reasons: habitat destruction, pollution, disease, climate change, and over-collection for exotic pets, food, or folk medicines. If these animals go extinct just like the big dinosaurs did, then not only will we be the poorer for their absence, we will also be in big trouble. Populations of insect pests and disease carriers will explode without frogs to eat them; rodents and other small animals will flourish without snakes to fear. Our global ecosystem will be severely damaged. So what can we do? In this book, Marty Crump covers the 'state of the species' from common misconceptions about amphibians and reptiles, to their exploitation, to the solutions to the problems of their decline. These include protecting habitats, doing more research about these animals, and enacting protective laws against capturing and killing them. Most of all, it means educating people about the value of these creatures and the need for their conservation. ... Read more
