    Extractions: Reference Encyclopaedias The information contained within the biographies of scientists from multicultural backgrounds was gathered through the use of three encyclopaedias - The New Encyclopaedia Britannica, Encyclopaedia Americana and Encyclopaedia International, as well as one textbook entitled, Science In The Multicultural Classroom. The New Encyclopaedia Britannica, published in 1994 (15th edition) by the Peter B. Norton Publishing Group, relies upon editorial advice from committee members from numerous university faculties from Australia, Canada, England, Scotland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France and the Netherlands, for the information contained within its volumes. The index is arranged alphabetically and if the scientists are known by other names, which was quite common during the early and medieval periods, then all known names are stated in the index entry.
