This program was among the first in the U.S. to offer extensive athletic training coverage and sports medicine expertise to younger athletes. A staff of athletic trainers under the supervision of UW Hospital Sports Medicine physicians (many of the same doctors who care for UW athletes) works to provide medical coverage to 14 high schools on a bi-weekly basis and 12 high schools and colleges on a daily basis. Working closely with the staff of the Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Department , they deliver timely and effective care for high school and college-aged athletes.
